When twenty-something Lia’s grandmother dies, her life is knocked upside-down. In order to satisfy the terms of her inheritance, Lia is forced to move to the family’s apartment complex in the scenic mountain town of Applebarrow, leaving behind her dead-end job and long-term boyfriend, Jason. While she’s happy to fulfill her Granana’s unusual dying wish to play social director to the eclectic … group of tenants, she’s surprised to discover they are not what she was expecting.
Her days as an RA in her college dorm were inadequate preparation for personalities such as a jealous librarian who names her Thanksgiving turkeys, a charmingly naive mechanic who thinks New Wave is beach music, and a volatile menopausal woman who claims to be a delicate flower.
To add to the mayhem, she meets Logan, an attractive young bartender with a penchant for rescuing her from absurd antics, such as losing her phone to a raccoon and thinking Long Island Iced Teas contain little alcohol. As Jason’s behavior becomes increasingly suspicious and erratic, Lia can’t help being drawn to Logan’s thoughtfulness, wit, and intense blue eyes.
As she adapts to her new community, secrets and lies emerge, and Lia wonders what the deceased, AND living, people in her life are hiding. Working to uncover the evidence, Lia hopes a wacky, unexpected visitor from beyond will provide the answers she craves – before she loses her grip on reality, and the love of her life.

I’m a sucker for chick lit, cozies, and light paranormal books so I was excited when Carol Maloney Scott announced her new paranormal chick lit book, NOBODY TELLS LIA ANYTHING! I loved the idea of Granana playing matchmaker—she was probably my favorite character—and while there were some predictable moments, there were definitely a few things that kept me guessing right up until the end! The cast of secondary characters were a hoot as well. Would love if they were my neighbors! If you’re looking for a light chick lit read with a little love triangle, crazy neighbors, and a ghostly Granana, go snag your copy now!
This is a great book; this is book 1 in the Spooky Matchmakers series written by Carol Maloney Scott. While she’s happy to fulfill her Granana’s unusual dying wish to play social director to the eclectic group of tenants, she’s surprised to discover they are not what she was expecting. This is a great book with well-developed characters. Once I started reading this book I didn’t want to put the book down until the end. I can’t wait to read then next book by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Quite the hoot!! This is a laugh out loud paranormal romance that is utterly fantastic. Great characters all around not just the main ones but all the secondary ones too. They are fully fleshed out and alive. This is a really well written and very funny book. Such a different plotline and presented in such a dynamic and hilarious way. This is the first book by this author that I’ve read and it won’t be the last. I hope this is the first installment in a brilliant new series. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a laugh out loud paranormal matchmaker romantic comedy.
I recieved an advanced copy from the author. This is my voluntary honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this book that tells the story of Lia and what she was left after her grandmother passed away. Filled with humor, a bit or romance and a little bit of paranormal elements, it’s not my normal read, but can’t wait for the next book. Well written and fast paced, I couldn’t put it down once I started reading.
Oh, what a crazy ride this book was! Lia’s life is turned up-side-down because of her late granma’s will. She moves into her granny’s apartment complex believing she has to be it’s manager, but her dear granny had other plans in mind! Even from the beyond, she plays matchmaker, trying to persuade her to give up her current boyfriend Jason and fix her up with Logan, the hot bartender and resident of the apartment complex.
Needless to say, the residents of the apartment complex is an assortment of eccentric characters, while Lia is prone to crazy accidents, involving Long Island Teas, raccoons and mud, to name a few. Not to mention that everybody has something to hide, starting with her boyfriend.
The book is full of humor, crazy antics, and yet deep emotional moments. One moment I laughed out loud, while the next I cried as I felt the emotional turmoil Lia was in. While some will claim that Lia was trully stupid in trying to save her relationship with Jason, I can’t help but sympathize with her. She’s invested too many years of her life in a relationship and she feels that she has to try and salvage it. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and with a little help from the spirit realm everything comes full circle and questions are answered.
This was my first book by Carol and it really hooked me! I read it in one sitting and I can’t wait for the next book in the series|!!!
Wow! This is a delightful book full of endearing characters that succeeded in making me laugh out loud! Lia is a lovable young lady who shows some understandable confusion when her beloved Granana leaves some unusual conditions in her will. Lia needs to leave her home for a year, move to where her Granana lived and play social director to a group of tenants whom she is suppose to make happier. She (Lia) decides to do this to honor her Granana and find out more about her life. Lia manages to find her way even though faced with many challenges such as a boyfriend from her home who is acting strangely, new friends who are acting equally strange, tenants who seem to be happy without her help, multiple situations that are hilarious, and a new man who seems to frequently save the day and has enough honor not to interfere with her current romance. During this time no one ever shares everything with Lia (as the title suggests) and she is determined to know it all . Granana makes some interesting appearances in the tale while she learns to handle her new situation. These are unique people from many walks of life who come together to win your heart and leave you smiling. This author has the ability to tell her story with unbelievable wit and grace. I probably should not have stayed up till 5 AM reading but it was difficult to put such a wonderful tale down. I will read this story again!
