This is my first time reading Claire Marti, and I am now a fan and will be reading more. It takes place on Pacific Vista Ranch in CA. The McNeill family moved to the ranch over 10 years ago after their mom/wife, an actress was killed in a freak accident on the set of a movie Chris McNeill was directing. The media and paparazzi frenzy that followed had them moving out of LA. They have built their life on the ranch. Holt comes to the ranch to meet with Chris to see if they can use the ranch for a movie that is being filmed that their is a problem with the ranch they had planned to use. Holt goes to the breeding barn and makes a joke and Sam and him are instant enemies. Sam and her sisters don’t want their dad to allow the movie to happen on their ranch, but Chris decides to allow it. It turns out he really misses directing. Sam and Holt end up at the same ballet class the night Holt moves into the guest house. They both think the other one is hot, but they still get along like oil and vinegar. Sam’s perception of Holt is changed after he offers his ear and their hate quickly turns to lust. Will they be able to overcome their initial hatred of each other? Will they be able to talk and find out more about each other? What happens if the paparazzi show up? This book is full of angst, twists/turns, suspense, steam, chemistry and some hot sex. Can hate turn to lust turn to love? Read for yourself, you won’t be sorry you picked this one up. I was enthralled from page 1 to the last page, and whoa, there were some surprises and the last chapter and epilogue are off the charts. Looking forward to the next in the series!
Holt and Sam the dislike was strong from the beginning but, like every good book that dislike always turns into some hot and good. But for these two it took a long time for them to get there. This book had great details in it that made you feel you were feeling the wind and seeing the beautiful scenery and the horses. I love when the book takes you in and you forget about everything else and all you can do is turn the page and that’s what this book did for me and I enjoyed every moment.
This was my first book by Claire Marti, and I really enjoyed it! As a matter of fact, I read it in one day on the beach. It featured a fabulous Southern California ranch setting, and well-rounded characters. Marti’s vivid writing style made me feel like I was on the ranch with the characters.
An enemies to lovers romance, this book had humor, warmth, and a steamy romance. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this series!
This is a great read!! This is my first time reading anything by Claire Marti, and I loved it!
Sam runs a horse breeding farm, along side her family, when an arrogant jerk comes in, Holt, and she can’t stand him. Although she’s extremely attracted to him, she finds out he’s bringing Hollywood to her farm. One thing her father swore would never happen!
This book is filled with angst, heartache, and off the charts steam!!
A fun and sexy ranch romance. Felt familiar at time as a So cal resident. Loved that I understood the area and the past events. I like how it wants insta love and how they clashed. It was fun to read all the push and pull! Can’t wait to see Amanda’s story.
A solid 3.5
I enjoyed this book but did feel at times it was lacking a bit more information. The family have set their lives at around the horse farm they run after a freak accident caused tragedy and media intrusion several years before. Although the accident and some of the subsequent aftermath was discussed its didn’t feel like the whole story was told or why they had such a visceral reaction to the proposal of filming on their ranch.
The sisters relationships were nice although it does seem they keep quite a few secrets from each other that may come out in later books.
There is some drama but generally it’s enemies to lovers style book. My biggest complaint about it is that I felt the ending was quite rushed and gave it a slightly cheesy feel that wasn’t in the rest of the book.
An enemies to lovers love story that starts off with instant attraction and lots of tension. I loved reading Samantha and Holt’s story.
I did enjoy this book despite not really liking Sam. She had too much of a chip on her shoulder for me.
