“Clavell’s biggest triumph yet . . . storytelling done with dash and panache . . . a rousing read.”—Washington Post The setting is Hong Kong, 1963. The action spans scarcely more than a week, but these are days of high adventure: from kidnapping and murder to financial double-dealing and natural catastrophes—fire, flood, landslide. Yet they are days filled as well with all the mystery and romance … all the mystery and romance of Hong Kong—the heart of Asia— rich in every trade. . . money, flesh, opium, power.
Praise for Noble House

“Tremendous entertainment . . . a seamless marvel of pure storytelling.”—Cleveland Plain Dealer
“A mesmerizer . . . spellbinding.”—Los Angeles Times
“Breathtaking . . . only terms like colossal, gigantic, titanic, incredible, unbelievable, gargantuan, are properly descriptive . . . . Clavell has made himself the king of super-adventure thrillers.”—Chicago Tribune Book World

READ THIS MANY YEARS AGO. MY MEMORY TELLS ME THIS WAS A GRIPPING, DO NOT PUT DOWN BOOK. WELL FORMED CHARACTERS, PERIOD /HISTORICAL ACCURACY.MADE ME WISH TO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PERIOD IN THE ORIENT. I READ SHOGUN FIRST AND WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED BY MR. CLAVELL. MADE ME BUY NOBLE HOUSE. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
This is one of my all-time favorite books. I have read it in print several times and finally bought the Kindle version. The villains are villainous but interesting, the main characters are complex and fascinating, the plot is full of twists and turns. Even the minor characters are vividly drawn. As always, Clavell’s insights into Asian culture …
My most favorite after Shogun. The reason I love historical fiction!
The espionage is still going on today. It is an excellent novel about Hong Kong.
This book, like all of Clavell’s books, is certainly a page turner. Noble House was the final installment of his Asian saga, and having read all the other ones, it was neat seeing how he tied all of the volumes in to this story. He tends to over-use cliches and some of the writing is prosaic, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I did all of his …
You can NEVEr go wrong with Clavell
#6 in James Clavel”s Asian Saga that starts with Shogun. Excellent story that takes place in Hong Kong in 1963, lots of interesting characters, spying, and sub plots.
A classic.
Just like all the books in this series Clavell keeps you interested in following the excitement
An excellent novel which is a classic.
One of my favorite books of all time.
Structurally, it is the best book I’ve ever read, never mind it’s impossible to put down. It starts with a typhoon, and then picks up the pace! Master story tellers like James Michener can run two or three story lines at a time; James Clavel BRAIDS his. If a bus boy delivers a telegram, we know the basics of that young man’s life, and what he …
Anything by James Clavell is GREAT! This man was a British prisoner of war during the WWII in a Japanese prisoner of war camp in Singapore. Despite the torture and horrible things he went through in the camp, he fell in love with Japanese culture and his books reflect his love for Asia, they’re sexy, full of intrigue and business and the blend …
