DaneWhat does the expression, “having it all” mean? For me, does this mean having a career as a successful author? With more money than I need, best friends… a nice house?I’ve been publicly linked to a phrase that might as well be mythical in nature. No one person walking this earth “has it all.”I have a privileged life, yes, but is it anywhere near fulfillment? Not even close… until I met her.Skylar… fulfillment?
Not even close… until I met her.
Skylar
I won’t deny that I view the world through rose-tinted glasses.
Maybe it’s because I’m an artist, or maybe it’s because of my upbringing.
Regardless, not a single day goes by that I’m not grateful for my life, my friend, my apartment.
I never dwell on what might be lacking in my days, but spending my time picking them apart will never allow me to grow and flourish.
That’s not how I’d like to spend my life.
Have I reached the level of contentment I’m yearning for?
Not even close… until I met him.

Dane Noble is a writer and author in the pyschological thriller genre. He is a private person, perfect gentleman and keeps to himself. Unfortunately, Dane has some dark secrets from his past. Skylar Ives, art teacher loves her job. Her boss informed her today to expect a guest speaker in her creative writing class. The guest speaker is, Dane Noble. Skylar does not know a lot about Dane, except that he is a writer. She is so excited about this. When these two people meet they are immediately attracted to each other, almost as if fate brought these two people together. This is an enjoyable story. Engaging characters and well written. Two entirely different people find each other for the right reasons. Looking forward to reading Blue Diamond.
A steamy romance, seasoned with wit and a touch of suspense, the story brings two people from very different backgrounds together. Dane’s psychological thrillers are not on Skylar’s TBR list, even though everyone else raves about his books and that he is the hottest new author on the horizon. In an act of public service, Dane finds himself teaching one of Skylar’s classes and discovers a woman with hidden depths, whose art calls to his soul. Whilst Skylar’s mother and best friend form the bedrock on which she builds her life, Dane is surrounded by people he can trust and who are more family than friends. Entering Dane’s orbit brings Skylar into a new dimension, one where the need for bodyguards and book signings are everyday events. I loved the humour and interplay between the friends, as well as the romance that built up between Skylar and Dane as they explored their lives together. When a hint of danger threatens Skylar, Dane and his friends quickly close ranks around her. Whilst Dane is naturally inclined to be reclusive and withdrawn, his interaction with the gentle Skylar draws him out. Her understanding of his personality goes a long way to make this a tender romance, however, her tendency to burn food makes her a lot like the rest of us! The story is a standalone and comes to a happy and successful close, although it should definitely come with an age restriction. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. This is the first book I’ve read by Dawn Umrie and I can honestly say I loved it. The author’s characters are well developed, each having a story to tell. The storyline was interesting and fun to become involved with….. having elements of romance and suspense.
I would love to see a sequel, a continuation of the story with the focus on some of the background characters. I definitely recommend this book and will be looking forward to reading more from this author.

The beginning and middle were great. The story moved well, the characters were well written, and then the ending fizzled. It was good, but I felt it could be outstanding with a little more energy in the ending. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
Skylar Ives is a teacher at Pioneer Creative Arts Cultural Center where she teaches adults. She loves the freedom she has teaching and is looking forward to having a successful writer come in for some classes to share his expertise.
Dane Noble is a very successful author who guards his privacy and life as much as possible. He agrees to come into the Pioneer Creative Arts Cultural Center and is not prepared to be so attracted to Skylar from the moment he first meets her.
The chemistry between Skylar and Dane is immediate but soon someone else seems to have it out for Skylar. Will Dane be able to keep her safe?
This was a great book and the first time I have read this author.
I liked Skylar and loved getting to see her in her element with teaching but I also liked that she was working on things for herself too with her passion for the creative process. I also thought it was awesome what happened after Skylar read Dane’s book.
Dane was very private with only a few people he allowed to get close to him and that included his bodyguard, Cason. I liked learning about Dane’s past and how he was struggling to deal with everything and how he was battling within himself on how to come to terms with it all.
When things started getting sketchy for Skylar I was curious to discover if the stalker was a Dane fan or someone that wanted Skylar. I liked the way everything played out but I think I would have preferred if we had more interactions with the stalker as themselves.
I really liked the relationship between Skylar and Dane and how everything progressed. There were great lighthearted moments and other HOT moments!
The end definitely surprised me as I wasn’t expecting that but I loved how everything ended!
