San Francisco crime reporter Tom Reed is burned out. On the day he decides to finally quit the news business, a sensational story breaks. A heart-stopping robbery-homicide at a jewelry store. The suspects have shot and killed a police officer before fleeing with a female hostage. Reed rushes to the scene, his passion resurrected for one last big story.
Arriving at the chaos, Reed is stunned to … stunned to learn from a staff member, still clutching a receipt, that the hostage is his wife, Ann Reed.
Horrified, Reed confronts San Francisco Homicide Inspector Walt Sydowski and other detectives on the case. All know the odds.
Reed is paralyzed with anguish, but his son, Zach, refuses to give up hope of finding his mother, despite the grisly trail left by the killers. Now the clock is ticking down as Reed battles his demons and Sydowski in a life and death search for Ann.

Always enjoy Rick Mofina’s book. Good, easy reading. Enough detail and suspense to keep me going.
It was an awesome read. Something I would highly recommend and will read again.
Best I’ve read in a long time. I wanted to turn to the last page half way through it.
A true surprise. Great read. Actually, I hated to put it down.
Now I am a huge fan and will order more
I always enjoy books by this author. Great mysteries. There is some profanity, which I don’t like.
I couldn’t put it down. Beside the pull of the plot, the book was well written. Throughout the story, the reader knows the ending could go either way.
Very good suspense. Didnt want to put down.
It was so good I couldn’t put it down! I read it in three days. I will be reading more books by this author.
Great development of characters
you do not want to put it down until you find out what happened, I loved it!
good book
Great
Tom Reed goes in to work to quit, but a story breaks and he can’t resist. Jewelry store robbery, hostage taken. Tom is all into it, then he finds out the hostage is his wife. He gets a look at the other side of journalism as he is harassed and hounded by reporters.
Pretty good story, but sometimes the writing is a little clunky.
Great read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading No Way Back. Keeps the reader anxiously turning pages to see what happens next!
Good charecters, good plot and a happy ending…
For those of us that enjoy mystery this one keeps you going and going – Just one more page type book. This is a wonderful author – I very much enjoy his writing.
Great book that kept me wanting to read more. Interesting characters with good storyline.
Great book. Keeps the reader engaged as action packed story keeps moving from one thriller situation to another.
Builds empathy for the kidnapped victim and her family, especially her son who never loses faith that his mother will survive and will not let his father stop searching for her. The conclusion is smooth and logical. It leaves the reader feeling positive with the situation, justice as a natural result,
and hope for the victims’ recovery from a horrible ordeal.
Great book, I really liked the writing.
