This is a fab second chance story set in the big city! High school friends who end up working together in the big city! It’s a great story of growth, life struggles and romance and I read in one sitting!
I enjoyed reading this addition to the No Brides Club series. I like Jon, love his relationship with his grandfather and that he gets a real chance to build a relationship with his high school crush. Kate is a likeable character as well, I couldn’t figure out why she was so driven to be in such a miserable work environment with all the smarts she has. The past is the past, they’re all grown up now and they make a sweet couple. I received a free copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the 5th in the No Brides Club series and the club is mentioned but the girls hardly get a mention. This is a sweet story and Jon and Kate are a great couple, even if they spend most of the book trying not to be a couple. The Club really needs a name change but I look forward to Julie finding her true love.
Ah, Kate and Jon….the “old high school friends that reconnect after years of no connection”!!! They weren’t sweethearts, more like Kate sort of bullied Jon and feels bad about that but they did have a connection because they were in Mathletes together in a country high school. However, Kate couldn’t wait to get out of the country and Jon didn’t mind it so much. Kate had a great family and Jon….did not. Kate lives for work and Jon….does not. I liked all these opposites between the two of them after they surprisingly reconnect at the same financial firm when Kate becomes Jon’s boss for the summer. Jon was just my kind of person. I would have liked to be around him! Kate was very “into her work” though and lived for it. That’s why she’s in the No Brides Club! However, love can somehow make you rethink those priorities!!!!! Jon’s grandfather was fantastic! I loved his character! Another awesome book in the series!
This series is fabulous.
Each author has their own style and they all meld greatly.
This story had humor, soul–searching and romance.
This author made her characters feel like friends and her plot had us right there with them.
This is the fifth book in the No Brides Club series.
Kate Lewis is done with country life. She’s lived her life on her family’s dairy farm and now it’s time to see how life at NYU treats her. Loving New York City she vows to stay there and never return to farm life again. The ladies of the No Brides Club value work above all and that includes romantic relationships. They don’t have time for it in their quest for the climb to the top in the financial world and Kate is no different . A senior analyst for a mutual fund she’s been passed up for a promotion twice for portfolio manager. She vows it absolutely will not happen again and by putting in long hours she is sure of it. John, eh, no big deal she has known him since childhood when he was just a chubby nuisance but wait, he’s become a competitive swimmer and has really toned up. Forced to work together the high school sweethearts feel the flare up of romance again but when he may be offered the promotion over her will their love fizzle out with her jealousy? Loved this series. It was a lot of fun.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
When Kate discovers her high school rival has matured into a handsome man who she has to work closely with, will she fall for him or let her mistrust and career goals continue to rule? No Time for Apologies is a fun story of workplace relationships, overcoming the past and second chances. Will the chubby nerd get the girl or continue to let his lack of self confidence rule his life?
No Time for Apologies by Jean C. Gordon is book 5 in The No Brides Club series. Each book is an enjoyable standalone. Kate and Jon’s story is set in the dog eat dog world of high finance. Kate is trying again to move up the corporate ladder with a promotion that is well deserved. Enter Jon, a nerdy acquaintance from high school, who Kate feels is after the same position. Jon denies this and states he is only there for the summer and will start to teach at the community college in the fall while helping his Grandpa with his beef cattle farm. Jon is no longer nerdy but Kate is totally committed to her job….or is she? Fantastic story!
No Time Apologies is the first book I have read by Jean C Gordon. I found fifth installment from the No Brides Club series to be fun and entertaining. I enjoyed Jon and Kate’s chemistry. Although the story predictable, it is still most definitely worth a read.
I give No Time Apologies four stars. Looking forward to the conclusion of the No Brides Club series.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
No Time For Apologies!
This is the fifth book in the No Brides Club. Of course, 4 of the 6 friends have found their HEA leaving just 2 who insist they are concentrating on their careers and have no time to find a man and get married. I this book, Kate and Jon were friends and competed together and against each other on their high school math team. Kate was always a beautiful girl, and she was popular in school, whereas Jon was overweight and a typical nerd. He had a crush on Kate, but she never had time for that with him. Fast forward to present day, and Kate is an analyst at an investment company looking to become a fund manager (unusual as the industry is typically male). Jon comes to Kate as her new assistant where he can save some money before becoming a math teacher. He is no longer overweight, and actually has grown up as man-candy! Unknown to both Jon and Kate, he’s who the management team have determined should become their newest fund manager!
Kate and Jon were fabulous together! I was truly frustrated with the misogynistic treatment Kate faced regularly in the company. This was a sweet romance that left you feeling good about their relationship, but unsettled about the misogynistic treatment that doesn’t seem to end.
I received an ARC copy of this book courtesy of Sweet Promise Press and am voluntarily reviewing it. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.
This is another great book in this series.
Kate Lewis moved to NY and works with finance, trying to prove herself in a male world.
Jon Smith had a crush on Kate in high school, but she wasn’t very nice to him.
When they begin to work together, feelings surface, but Kate suspects that he is there to steal her promotion while he states that he is only there during the summer to raise money to save his grandfather’s farm.
Will they be able to overcome the differences and have their happily ever after, just like Kate’s other friends?
I loved the story and the characters and highly recommend the reading.

Kate Lewis and Jon Smith went to high school together, but despite a common love of math she was the popular girl and he was the chubby nerd. I loved his transformation to sexy swim athlete. It would be fun to by a fly on the wall at their high school reunion. Jon lived the world of successful stock fund manager and he’d rather work his grandfather’s beef cattle farm and teach college. While all Kate dreams of is moving to the next level from senior analyst to fund manager. But the company she works for, DeBakker Mutual Funds is sexist and would rather promote men than women. I guess no woman would sue over this for fear they would be blackballed from other firms. Jon takes on a short-term assignment as Kate’s assistant and all senior partners at DeBakker-Gelm can think is that he would be perfect for the next fund manager opening even though he doesn’t want it and Kate has clearly shown that she does. Kate put her career first, but it really didn’t make her very happy and DeBakker-Gelm really didn’t care about her. I’m happy she chooses to put her heart first in the end.
I’ve never heard of this author before now, so I was a bit unsure if I would enjoy it or not. I have to admit, I was rather pleasantly surprised by this story!
For it being novella length, it flowed smoothly and felt like a full and complete story. I liked how the author incorporated Kate’s feelings of loss now that most of the No Brides Club had started romantic relationships, as I thought that was a very realistic touch!
I have to say, I liked both Kate and Jon, both as people and as a couple. They had a lot in common, and their differences balanced each other out. They were clearly a loving couple and felt very realistic to me. I’d have to say that they’re my favorite out of all of the No Brides couples so far.
My one complaint was the lack of resolution with the situation that forced Kate out of her position. It was a little vague, and didn’t feel fully explored to me. Other than that, this was an enjoyable and engaging read! I look forward to the final book in the series!
I loved Kate and Jon’s story!
S is for Satisfying, oh it was so sweet,
W is for Warm, when Kate and Jon meet.
E is for Entertaining, I loved this book,
E is for Engaging, one page was all it took,
T is for Thrilled, I was roped in from the start,
R is for Romance, to warm up your heart.
O is for On a mission, Jon has things to do,
M is for Misfortune, the troubles he runs into.
A is for Analyst, that’s what Kate is,
N is for Nice, when they finally kiss.
C is for Captivated, that’s what I was,
E is for Enjoyed it, read it without pause.
Sweet Romance 🙂 I just couldn’t help myself. I loved this book!
In No Time for Apologies, Kate is a super intelligent financial analyst trying to break the glass ceiling. She has been passed over for promotion to fund manager several times. Suddenly, the company has hired her an assistant, Jon Smith, whom they are obviously grooming for Kate’s promotion.Jon has left the financial game behind for teaching. Jon wants to help his grandfather keep his farm so he takes this position for the summer. Kate and Jon were high school classmates. Kate and Jon were great together. The plot is interesting and reminds the reader to focus on what is truly important. It is so irritating when companies treat their female employees the way Kate is treated. This is a great book that you should not miss.
No Time for Apologies is a tale of sacrifice that proved years in the making. Gordon turns youthful infatuation into a grownup rivalry. Kate and Jon have a history that she’s trying to outrun and he’s trying to bring into the present. A hometown crush could lead to big city heartache for a romance that never got the chance to become something more. Apologies is a tale of life, love and sacrifice with all the complications of the real world, but the simplicity of great romance.
The 5th book in the No Brides Club, another quick and easy read. Kate and Jon go way back, both coming to terms in how they were as classmates. Now back together working at same company, some misunderstanding along the way, but in the end a HEA. I would recommend it to others.
I enjoyed reading No Time for Apologies. Kate, a mean girl in high school, and Jon, an overweight math nerd, meet again in the corporate world. Kate is apologetic for her past behavior, and Jon has grown into what one of the No Brides Club members call eye candy. Kate’s his boss for the summer. I loved Jon’s care and devotion to his grandfather and to their cattle operation. One of my favorite scenes is Jon and Kate adopting sister cats and how loyal Jon’s cat is to him. I received an ARC from the publisher. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
I enjoyed this romance and thought it was fun and sweet. Jon was simply a great guy. I f you ask me Kate was very lucky, maybe even a little luckier than he deserved. I was not a fan of who she was but she did grow on me. I enjoyed this couples chemistry and was happy when they got together.
