Lily was smart, tough, snarky, and I loved her. Lily was forced to be a vampire hunter when she was sold to the guild by her father at the age of seven. If she didn’t do what they wanted she would have been dead. Now the Guild is destroyed and she helped, what is she to do with her life? Why go to the Vampire part of Grimalkin Academy of course. But as the only human amongst vampire students who will want to kill her she has a guard. A guard who she is growing closer to. But she has foreseen her death by the hand of a student who has befriended her and her visions always come true .I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Most stories about vampire slayers start with someone who fell into the occupation or were born into it. The only other hunter I can think of who was sold into the occupation is B.R. Kingsolver’s Erin McLane aka Scorpion. It may be an acceptable risk to have one strong-minded rebel out of a hundred ‘interns’ but when that one rebel takes down the organization …. yoy. It is good to see Lily take full advantage of her second chance the way that Erin did. I wonder if it is going to work out in similar ways. Maybe they should talk….

*Spoiler Alert*
Lily (FMC) has only known one life as a Vampire Hunter. Thats all shes done since she was a child & has no idea about anything outside of that. So now shes the prisoner of the very people (Vampires) that shes been hunting but it gives her an opportunity to attend the Grimalkin Academy. Except she has to study with the very people that hate her. making her a target and needing a bodyguard – Bryce. Who both dont seem to hit it off at first. Two opposing people who seem to find some common ground through the course of the book. Its actually quite sweet the way they interact with each other even though they should actually hate each other. A pretty good read though
Lily is being held in a vampire den after the vampire hunter guild she was a part of is taken down. She didn’t want to be a hunter, but she had no other choice. Ashryn tells Lily that she needs to think about what she wants to do. After thinking about it, she wants to go to school. They decided the only academy she can go to is Grimalkin. Lily is cautious about being sent there, but excited to be able to free. There is only one problem she will have a bodyguard, he doesn’t seem to like her.
Lily is settling into the academy as well as she can. Bryce and herself seem to be getting closer. Lily is surprised her feelings for Bryce, but is hopeful. There is a girl that seems to want to be friends with her. Lily is not sure she wants to or she can trust her. No one knows her secret. Lily has a vision that will change the course of her life. Lily’s life is in danger and she has other visions of things to come.
This was a really entertaining book, it was fast paced story line. You will enjoy reading about Lily, her new life, and slowly her past. This is just the beginning, looking forward reading more.

First off, I love Grimalkin Academy! Lily is an ex-vampire hunter now living under Ashryn Baker’s watch. After confinement in her room for so long she’s going crazy, she’s given some leeway to venture out. So, she chooses to attend school at Grimalkin Academy. It is going to be dangerous for her since she at one time hunted and killed so many. Her identity is supposed to be protected and she has a vampire bodyguard attending with her. She will have to deal with all of the school’s entitled students, teachers with an attitude and her 24/7 roomie. Bruce is on a mission to prove he is loyal to the Den and given the job of guarding Lily. Kill him now, he hates this! However, the more time they spend together they find they have more in common than they ever thought. Someone is out to get Lily and he may not be enough to protect her. I really can’t wait for the next book. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Great start to a new series
Great character building stared in this new series. Both the main characters are running from their past sort of. Both were made to do something they didn’t want to and are trying to survive in this new world of theirs.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

This was indeed interesting. Ex-hunter going to school with vampires. However on this exact case we are not any longer sure who’s a prey. But what is cute is what grow between Lily and Bryce, despite them both having heavy past, in some ways similar, they can understand each other and there is something blooming there between them. I really liked this story.
