#1 New York Times bestselling author Fern Michaels weaves a powerful story of betrayal, courage, and starting over . . . From her silver Mercedes to her designer kitchen, Molly’s life is gleaming and beautiful—at least on the surface. But no one in her exclusive neighborhood in Goldenhills, Massachusetts, knows what living with her demanding husband Tanner is really like. They know even less … like. They know even less about the life she left behind in Florida almost two decades ago.
Back then, Molly was Maddy Carmichael, living with her twin brother and neglectful mother in a run-down trailer park amid the orange groves of Florida. After the terrible events of her high school prom night, Molly fled north and reinvented herself. Now the veneer of Molly’s polished existence is finally cracking—and Molly must find the strength to become the woman she once hoped to be.

It was a really good book but I did expect more at the end. The book built up suspense and then all of a sudden, the end, problem solved.
Maddy Carmichael reinvented herself after a devestating experience at her senior prom and an accident that followed. Twenty years later Molly realizes that she has changed from one prison to another of her own making. She suffered abuse and neglect from her mother and brother in her home town before she escaped to the Boston area. She married Tanner after he hired her as a nanny for his young twin sons. He was a wealthy dentist and she would not resist the salary he offered. Things changed after they married and Tanner became abusive and his sons followed his lead. The only good part of their marriage was their daughter Kristen. When Kristen leaves for Europe on her high school graduation trip and Molly receives a phone call from someone claiming to know about her past, she decides it is time to go home and face what happened all those years ago and free herself from the past. I felt sorry for Molly and was happy when she finally got the gumption to leave her husband and sort out her past.
A great story about a woman taking back her life and living for herself.

I am a big Fern Michaels fan but this one didn’t grab my interest as fast as some of her other books. Once I got a little further into it I found that I was looking forward to seeing how everything would work out for the Molly a.k.a. Maddie. I was very happy with how things came together in the end.
