No Place Too Far (A By the Sea Novel) by Kay Bratt
Just finished this amazing book and I can honestly say once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down!
This is a wonderful story of Maggie Dalton and the conquering of her fear of pretty much everything. Her life is in limbo because of a stalker – he went to jail, but she still lives in fear. Maggie, along with her new friends from the Veterinarian’s office overcome many obstacles and adventures to finally realize that no place is truly too far for love and friendship.
The best part of this book for me, is the continuing story of Quinn – some author’s leave you hanging and just continue another part of the story. Not here!! Kay continues to unfold Quinn’s story as well!
A great read from a great author – highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley for my advanced review copy.

Although this is the second book in the By The Sea Series, it can easily be read as a standalone. That said, having read the first one I was able to follow the back story easier. This book was mainly Maggie’s story but intertwined with her best friend Quinn whose story was told in book one. Set in Maui, Maggie moves to be closer to her best friend and away from the mainland and her stalker. Kay Bratt does a wonderful job of mixing friendship, romance and suspense in this book. Great read. I was given this ebook in exchange for a unbiased review and this is solely my opinions.
Another memorizing read from Kay Bratt
I’m not quite sure how I survived the wait for this book, but I’m so very glad I did. After reading the first in this series (True to Me– go ahead and grab that one if you haven’t read it yet) I was ecstatic to return to paradise to check on Quinn and Maggie. And I trust Bratt to handle my heart with care, so I had no problem opening myself up to laugh and cry and hurt and find redemption within her pages.
And she did not disappoint. Layer upon layer of relationships, conflict, self-discovery, Hawaiian culture, suspense, romance, and selfless love are artistically woven together to create a story that truly took my breath away. Despite it’s intricacy, this is an extremely easy read that is pretty much impossible to put down.
There is a perfect blend of mystery and anticipation and sweetness and sass, all impeccably researched (or lain out honestly, from experience) — something for every kind of reader, which I find to be true for all of her books. You will adore this novel, trust me, and you’ll be left dying for more just like I am.
No Place to Far by Kay Bratt is the 2nd book in this series. True to Me was the 1st book in the series located in Maui. In No Place to Far we learn more about Quinn’s Friend Maggie Dalton and her son. Maggie and her son settled in Maui after following Quinn. Maggie is trying to get settled after running for a year from a stalker. The storyline follows both Maggie and Quinn. This was such a great story and I just couldn’t put it down. It was a really believable storyline and the characters were very relatable. The description of Maui wants me to go as soon as I can. No Place to Far had romance, suspense, family drama and friendships. This is a great read and would highly recommend. I can’t wait to read more of Kay Bratt Books. Thank you Kay and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read it.
I absolutely loved this book! Kay Bratt is such an exceptional author that I am so absorbed that I forget everything around me while reading her books. The way she describes everything makes me feel that I’m right there. Lol, I even had to look up a recipe and fix an all Hawaiian meal just to experience it in real life! Don’t pass this one up!
No Place Too Far is the second book in the By the Sea series by Kay Bratt, and it is just as fabulous as the first book.
Book 2 follows Quinn’s best friend, Maggie, as she escapes her previous life to Hawaii with her young son. Though I’ve never been to Hawaii, the author’s descriptions are so beautifully vivid that I could easily picture all of the various settings in the story. I loved that Quinn, along with the other characters from the first book, are very involved in this story. Getting to read more of their stories playing out was extremely satisfying.
There is a fair amount of creepiness and suspense in this book, and I absolutely love it. The mystery of who the villain is and how far he/she would go to achieve their goals drew me in from the moment the villain was mentioned, but I was still shocked when the final confrontation occurred.
Kay Bratt’s writing and storytelling are brilliant, and I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
Wow! Okay, I need a minute to breathe a little as No Place Too Far hit extremely close to home. That being said, you’ve got to read this second story in the “By the Sea” series. You will laugh and you will cry. Did I say laugh?! Dr. Starr and his antics will entice a full on belly chuckle. I see some resemblances of Kay’s life in this book and if you’re like me, it’ll fill your heart. I highly recommend this book. Thank you Kay Bratt and Netgalley for my requested copy of this ARC and all opinions in this review are my own.
This is the second book of a series, the first being “True To Me”.
This story is just as engrossing as the first one. It continues the lives of all of the characters but adds a bit more emphasis on Maggie who came to Hawaii after her best friend Quinn moved there to meet her biological family.
Maggie and her young son, have been on the run for quite awhile, trying to keep a step ahead of a stalker who had been terrorizing her.
Once the authorities, captured him and put him in jail, she felt she could finally breath and the thought of seeing her best friend in Hawaii would be great for both her and her son.
This story is full of good friendships while going through challenging decisions, and at times nerve wracking experiences. I fell in love with most of the characters, as they portray strong people willing to do anything for one another.
This is a must read series in my opinion, as the progression of the story and characters is worth the continuing story. But it could also be read as a stand alone book.
This authors stories a so fun to read, she keeps me entertained and I never want the stories to end. I cannot wait for the next one in the series, and I don’t usually like to get caught up in a series.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for a copy of this book.
No Place Too Far by Kay Bratt
This book takes us back to Hawaii. This time we learn more about Maggie, Quinn’s friend. Maggie is tired of running, tired of hiding, tired of looking over her shoulder. Has she finally found peace in paradise? Join Maggie, Quinn and the rest of the gang as they learn to love once more.
The descriptions of Hawaii are wonderful. I wish I was there too!! The detailed descriptions of the landscape and traditions are phenomenal and thought provoking to say the least. Ms. Bratt has a way with words that paint a picture for you to see as you read. I could picture myself in the lush landscapes and ocean breezes. I wanted to learn more of the island traditions and way of life.
You won’t want to miss this great read.
This book was everything I hoped it would be and more. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I went from not wanting to put it down to wanting to putting it down because I didnt want it to end. Great from the first page to the last! Well done!
Another beautifully written love story with ups and downs like everyone. Maggie is running from an abusive situation and learns to lean on family and friends. There is also betrayal for Quinn and she is forced to make a life changing decision. This book has lessons in life and love the characters go through and learn from.
This book continues from True to Me and is a fabulous read. Kay Bratt hit a home run again.
“No Place Too Far” tells of the intertwining relationship of two best friends supporting each other through their separate struggles with family and men. Maggie and Quinn are there for each other through thick and thin, bad relationships and good relationships. Quinn struggles more with her belonging to her family while Maggie seems to be running from her family.
Set in the beautiful setting of Maui, the details are perfect and exquisite. Having traveled the roads of Maui myself, it was special to read this thrilling book set in one of my favorite vacation spots.
Even in paradise, all is not safe. As the plot unfolds, we learn that you can’t always run from your past, even on a remote island. I was not expecting the ending and kept reading into the wee hours of the night to finish this book. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series so I can follow these beloved characters as they become stronger and more confident in their places in life.
I was excited when the second installment of Kay Bratt’s “By the Sea” series, set in Maui, was announced. This book gives us insight to Quinn’s childhood BFF, Maggie, with whom she reunited in “True to Me”, the first book. “No Place Too Far” is about 12-18 months later, Maggie has relocated to Maui, and we are introduced to new supporting characters.
We see how Quinn is coping with the reunification with her biological family and her loyalty to the woman who raised her. I felt based on where they are in the relationship, the storyline is realistic. Siblings figuring out the new pecking order and parents trying to reconcile the little girl they lost with the young woman she has become. I imagine this would be a slow, sometimes rocky, journey. We see Quinn evolve into a more confident woman enjoying the success of running an inn.
We also learn more about Maggie and how dealing with a stalker has changed her from the person Quinn remembered prior to losing touch. The struggles of being a single mom and the fear that the rug will be ripped out from under her again have taken their toll. However, as Maggie begins to open up to others about her stalker, she finds the strength to reclaim her life. I enjoyed the introduction of Maggie’s co-workers to the story. They are funny and quirky. I hope we see more of them in book three. Woodrow is a pretty cool dog.
I would have liked a couple more chapters to round out the ending which felt more like an epilogue. I did not agree with the offered suggestion for explaining Quinn’s disappearance without implicating the people responsible. Too many holes. While I think Maggie ended up with who she should, I’m also left wondering about the other guy. Maybe book three will bring him a resolution?
All in all, the book kept me up until 3am, because I could not put it down. I will definitely re-read “No Place Too Far”. The character development is solid and consistent. The plot line kept me guessing to the end with believable twists and turns. I can’t wait for book three to see how the characters grow through their experiences.
I received it as an advanced copy from Netgalley in return for an honest review. When it releases in September 2020, I will be buying the Kindle and Audible versions.
Another heartfelt page-turner by bestselling author Kay Bratt. The continuation of Quinn’s story from True to Me along with her best friend Maggie on the island of Maui does not disappoint. Both women and their stories will touch you deep within your heart. Kay Bratt does an amazing job of describing the island life and the importance of family, culture, and love. A love story with quite a bit of action and learning one’s true self. A can’t miss combination! Thank you for my requested copy of this ARC and all opinions in this review are my own.
No Place Too Far by Kay Bratt is the second book in the new By the Sea series. In this story, readers return to beautiful Maui as Quinn’s friend, Maggie Dalton, begins to renew her life with her son, Charlie, on the island after her stalker was sentenced to prison. Maggie begins a new job at a local vet clinic with the handsome Dr. Joe Starr and meets the eccentric staff including Juniper, the no nonsense receptionist with brightly colored hair and a nose ring. As she begins to live again and find new friends, her worst fears come to life as her stalker may have been able to find her again despite being in prison. Just as Maggie is learning to deal with this possibility, Quinn is adjusting to reuniting with her family as well as her new relationship with Liam. When a reporter threatens Quinn’s new life on the island, her only solution is to run. Has Maggie’s stalker truly found her on Maui? Will he attempt to come to the island? Will Quinn run or will she stay and fight for her new family and home?
No Place too Far is an awesome sequel to True to Me and I enjoyed following up with Quinn and her story as well as learning more about her long-time friend, Maggie. Maggie’s story with a stalker is creepy and eerie and I can only imagine the paralyzing fear that she and victims of stalking must deal with during the stalking and in the aftermath. In this digital world of email, social media and more and more of life existing through online connections, it is easy for someone to find another person and it makes it extremely hard for someone to truly hide. I enjoyed all the new characters especially Joe and Juniper. I look forward to see them along with Quinn and Maggie in book 3 and beyond in the By the Sea series. Overall, No Place Too Far is about standing firm and fighting for yourself, your loved ones, and your freedom. I highly recommend No Place Too Far!
No Place Too Far
will be available September 1, 2020
in paperback, eBook and audiobook
If you have not yet read True To Me, I highly recommend it.
True to Me is available in paperback, eBook and audiobook
When Maggie Dalton follows her close friend Quinn Maguire to Maui, she does so because she is in danger and trying to escape a stalker. Both women have been broken in some ways by their lives and are trying to remake themselves; neither trusts the world or many people. But in Maui, they begin to find healing and begin to recreate their lives and trust again. I truly enjoy Kay Bratt’s voice. This book is in part a romance, but it is much more. She’s a wonderfully descriptive writer so it was a little like a great vacation — minus the air fair and ocean breezes. Her characters, even her minor ones, are round, not mere vehicles to move plot. And there are multiple plot lines, all of them well-written and developed. I highly recommend this book. It should be noted that it is the second book in the By the Sea series, but it stands alone just fine. That being said, I encourage you to grab True to Me and enjoy Quinn’s story as well — I predict by the time you finish No Place Too Far you’ll be clamoring for #3!
No Place Too Far (A By the Sea Novel 2) is a wonderful uplifting book. It is the story of Quinn, Maggie’s friend that we met in True to Me (A By the Sea Novel 1) and her adventures creating a new life for herself. Kay Bratt’s writing carries you to Maui, and who doesn’t want to go there? Thoroughly enjoyed both books in this series!
Kay Bratt has done it again. She pulled me in with this 2nd book in her “By the Sea” series, No Place Too Far. Set in Maui, Kay has described the island so perfectly that you feel like you are right there. Her characters come alive on the pages and you feel like you truly know them.
In this book we are reintroduced to the characters from True To Me. This book is Maggie’s story. Maggie has been through a great deal in her young life. Fast-forward to No Place Too Far where Maggie has moved to Maui with her young son to start anew after dealing with a stalker. Her stalker has been apprehended and she finally feels like she can move on. Maggie is excited for her new life and new adventures she will have. Renewing her friendship with her good friend, Quinn, is an added bonus. Both young women had been through so much and this was exactly what they needed. Can Maggie truly escape her past and start fresh or will her past haunt her?
Thank you to Net Galley for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
I loved this book that is the second in the “By the Sea” series of books featuring the beautiful setting of Maui, Hawaii. The first novel, True to Me, introduced us to Quinn and Maggie, best friends, who have each other’s backs through thick and thin. They’ve already been through adventures. What life doesn’t have them? Quinn was the focus of the first book in the series and is very much a part of this one too. Maggie, and her adorable four-year-old son, Charlie, take the spotlight though as she tries to find her way through a new life in Maui where things aren’t easy. When I started this book, it was as if I had never been away from them. Immediately, I was drawn back into the story and the characters as if there had been no interval at all between books. New characters fit seamlessly into the storyline, and I learned even more about favorites who had been introduced previously. All of it was intriguing and enjoyable, and I’m happy to say that there will be more! It isn’t done with this book. A third one is on the way too. And I will be first in line to see what happens next. Thank you to Kay Bratt and Netgalley for the advance reader’s copy. I have become completely invested in this story, and I can’t wait to travel to Maui yet again.
Another great book by Kay Bratt!! I love how Kay told about the history of Maui during the book! I’ve never been to any part of Hawaii but the way she describes the landscape and scenery makes me feel like I am there! I loved that it had a vet, animals and the characters that own them! I look forward to reading more books in this series! If you haven’t read any of Kay Bratt’s books you really are missing out! Thank you Kay for another great read!!
