The setting for this series is beautiful. I’ve never been to Hawaii but these books take me on a mental vacation to the islands. There is also a lot of information about the history and culture of the Hawaiian people that was very interesting.
This is a book full of suspense and fear, friendship and love. I love the friendship between the two main characters that kept getting stronger no matter what adversity was facing them. I hope that there is another book in the series – I’m not ready to say goodbye to Quinn and Maggie or to the beautiful island of Maui.
Thanks to the author for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own
NO PLACE TOO FAR by Kay Bratt is a beautifully-written and emotional story of family and love set on the island of Maui. I loved TRUE TO Me, the first book in the By The Sea series, and couldn’t wait to return to Maui and the wonderful characters I met in Book One. Quinn’s friend, Maggie Dalton has been on the run with her young son, Charlie trying to escape a dangerous stalker. With her stalker now in prison, Maggie moves to Maui to be near Quinn and to begin a new life. She takes a job at a local vet clinic, makes some new friends and things seem to be going smoothly until she learns that her stalker may have found her again. Is there anyone she can trust with the secrets of her past and can she overcome the paralyzing fear and anxiety that have never really left her? Quinn is also facing the some demons from her past. Having been reunited with her biological family, she soon learns that there are secrets and mysteries yet to unfold as she builds new relationships with her family. Both women are suddenly faced with heart-wrenching decisions that could change everything about their new lives. I was totally engrossed in this heartfelt story and I felt like I had been transported to Maui by the vivid descriptions of the setting and Hawaiian culture. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next book in the series. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read an early copy.
(Thank you the author and publisher for an advanced reader copy of this book! All wording is of my own opinion.)
No Place Too Far
by Kay Bratt
This was a powerful story! I really enjoyed the characters of Katie/Quinn and Maggie. Each of their stories pulls you in and keeps you captivated. A mom on the run to protect her son from a stalker and a daughter who was lost at sea. Their friendship is also very real! I really enjoyed the action and drama in this story as well! Definitely a page turner and great read!
No Place too Far by Kay Bratt is the story of Maggie who has dodged a dangerous, deranged stalker for a year and now hopes she’s found peace, safety and security in Maui with her young son Charlie and her best friend Quinn who is also facing serious life issues of her own, including the recent discovery of her biological family and her complicated childhood. I love reading books written by Kay Bratt and No Place too Far is Kay Bratt at her best. Without giving away any spoilers, the author has done an outstanding job in carefully constructing and weaving all of the characters into the storyline. This book has all the elements of a really good book including the plot, characters, romance, danger, and suspense. The author is to be commended for her outstanding description of life on the beautiful island of Maui, the customs, culture, the people, and the food. I rated it a five.
I love Kay Bratt’s books. This one did not disappoint me. Strong female lead characters. Overcoming every obstacle thrown at them. A story of love, compassion, and strength. So many emotions while reading this! I didn’t want to put it down or for it to end!
What more could I want? This wonderful tale has it all…suspense, relationships between friends both new and old, relationships between siblings and between parents and their children, and Hawaiian traditions. And, yes, some of the story takes place around a vet’s office and the fun patients dealt with there. I am already eagerly thinking ahead to what might be in the next book in this series. Kay Bratt never disappoints me!
In this, the second in the By The Sea series, we follow Maggie and Quinn farther into their journey about Life, Love and Family. The twists, turns and sage wisdom will keep you turning pages, until the very end! Once you get there, you’ll be anxiously awaiting the third in the series and hoping that their story doesn’t end there! Kay’s characters bring you into their world, and will have you talking out loud to them. Don’t you wish they could hear you!? A+ Kay! Thank you!
Purchased this as I loved the first book. 2nd does not disappoint, though I waited too long between books 🙂 I love that this reads like a series in that the 2nd book picks up where the first leaves off, introduces you to more new characters but also continues with the first characters. It was a greasy escape for me!
WOW great book i have read all Kay Pratt’s books She is one of my very favorite’s
I loved No Place Too Far and I can’t wait for the 3rd book of the By the Sea series to be released.
True to Me starts off this series. Do yourself a favor and start with that book. If you don’t, you’ll miss out on a lot of the continuation of Quinn and Liam’s story in this book.
This book focuses mainly on Maggie, who is trying to outrun a stalker by moving to one of the Hawaiian islands where her best friend lives. This is in a beautiful local as well as a beautiful culture. The plot is part suspense, part romance, part family and relationships of family and friends.
Ms. Bratt is an incredible author that keeps me captivated by the tales she tells. I can’t wait for the next in the series!
I love every book of this author & this series book #2 is no different! It grabs your interest & makes you want to finish in one sitting! However, I chose to savor it! Just outstanding! #3 is already preordered!
I enjoyed settling down with the suspenseful sequel No Place To Far by Kay Bratt. It was well written with wonderful characters and gorgeous scenery. It’s a story of mystery, secrets, trust, love, friendships, family and finding happiness.
Maggie Dalton & Quinn Maguire, childhood best friends, are both trying to move on from difficult pasts & fears, by making a fresh start on the island of Maui. Just when Maggie feels life is moving forward safely her and her son, someone from her past returns, as Quinn is just learning to build up trust with her family members after a 30 years absence & family secrets.
No Place too Far is the 2nd book in Kay Bratt’s A by the Sea Novel Series. Even though this is the 2nd book in the series it can very well be read as a standalone. Ms. Bratt has written a wonderful story which drew me right in, making me forget everything else and did not let me go until I turned the last page. Once you start reading you will not want to put it down Ms. Bratt’s writing will keep you engaged until the end. I loved how the author described everything so vividly I was able to visualize being in Maui I felt like I was right there with the characters. This is very well written and has well developed and likable characters. I’m excited to see what she has in store for us next!
The second book in Kay’s series No Place Too Far (A By The Sea Novel) is addictive. I started reading it, thinking I would read a few chapters and get some errands done. Nope, no errands done that day because I couldn’t put it down until I read the last page! We were introduced to friends Maggie and Quinn in the first book, True To Me, and in this sequel, we learn more about family secrets and fears that brought them to beautiful Maui and forces them to face life head on. The book is filled with twists and turns in the lives of these two women, that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you read more and just as you think, ahh, I have it figured out now, there is a new twist! Family secrets surface for Quinn, as she tries to figure out where she truly belongs. Maggie comes face to face with her biggest fear, you must read to find out what happens! Hawaiian traditions and scenery comes to life and is brilliantly intertwined in the story. You feel as if you are there. The story is as fascinating and unexpected as driving on the road to Hana, you never know what will be around the next curve in the road. Beauty, strength, traditions, friendship, suspense and willingness to sacrifice are words that come to mind as I think about this book. Kay Bratt,I love all of your books, they just get better and better. You hit another one out of the park and I am anxiously awaiting book three in the series. I will just make sure not to start reading it when my errand list is too long!!
Kay Bratt writes from her heart. And what a heart she has! Her characters quickly become people that you want in your life.
After her best friend Quinn moves to Hawaii, Maggie Dalton moves there also with her son to escape a stalker. She has been on the run for so long that she doesn’t trust anyone other than Quinn. She takes a job using old skills at a veterinary office & quickly makes new friends that she is learning to trust. Life is beginning to get easier when all of a sudden things start to change.
Follow Maggie, her son & Quinn on their quest for a new life! You will be glad that you did!

This was my first time reading a book by this author, and while I found her writing to be proficient and her characters to be likable for the most part, I had a hard time getting into and finishing this book. The problem is that the book is what is probably labeled a “cozy romance,” and that is just not my type of book. I didn’t feel a strong connection to any of the characters and couldn’t invest in their issues. I especially had a problem with Maggie, who is being stalked, but instead of asking for help from her big brothers, she uproots her young son and relocates to Hawaii. This situation does not seem realistic to me. This book is the second in a series, but I had no problem following what was happening and understanding who all the characters were. I’m sure this book has a substantial audience, and as I mentioned, the writing was good. As such, I gave it three stars. Thank you to Net a Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read it.
I enjoyed reading the book, in some places I couldn’t wait to see what happen next and other places, I just enjoyed reading it. There are many characters that played important parts in the book, sometimes I had hoped that I would learn more about some of those characters. It was an easy book to read and I enjoy how she puts history into it and does research. It didn’t disappoint me at all.
I enjoyed reading more about Maggie’s story in the second book of the series – especially after getting glimpses of her in the first book (which focused on friend Quinn – her story also continues in this book). You can read this book without reading the first book, but I highly recommend reading both because they are both excellent reads! The only reason for the 4 stars is that I felt some parts of the book were a little bit rushed. I loved the characters, the setting, and the story line and look forward to the next book!
Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for providing a copy for review.
It was a good read. It kept me entertained.
