New York Times bestselling author Brenda Novak welcomes you to Silver Springs, a picturesque small town in Southern California where even the hardest hearts can learn to love again… her son, Jayden, a battle she refuses to lose. Desperate, she accepts a position assisting Dawson Reed–the same Dawson Reed who recently stood trial for the murder of his adoptive parents. Joining him at his isolated farm seems risky, but Sadie is out of options.
Dawson has given small town Silver Springs plenty of reasons to be wary, but he’s innocent of the charges against him. He wants to leave his painful past behind and fix up the family farm so he can finally bring his dependent sister home where she belongs.
As Sadie and Dawson’s professional relationship grows into something undeniably personal, Sadie realizes there’s more to Dawson than the bad boy everyone else sees–he has a good heart, one that might even be worth fighting for.

This book grabbed me from start…to finish. Not only was the story amazing, it is a relevant storyline that can happen to anyone. The story deals with events that have happened to me personally and Ms. Novak wrote everything as I remember experiencing and my reactions to them. Moving, and eerily accurate, are some words that come to mind. This is a book two however it is definitely a standalone; I will say, though, that this series creates a town I’d love to visit and maybe live. Definitely worth reading these books.
I won’t recap the story as you should read the book but it is about Sadie Harris and Dawson Reed. Sadie has the curtest little boy and is close to the finish line on a messy, contentious divorce. Her soon to be ex is a nightmare to her and their son but the face he presents to the world is all joy and light. The author gets this personality so right, it is scary. And Dawson had just stood trial for the murder of his adoptive parents. Now that it is over, he has come home to Silver Springs to this adoptive parent’s farm, hoping to take care of his special needs sister. He hires Sadie to help with the care of his sister while he gets the farm up and running again.
No One But You pulled me into the story and I couldn’t put it down. Really great read, at times intense, sad, uplifting, funny and sweet. Dawson’s and Sadie’s road to an HEA is long and hard but watching them grow closer is truly touching. I recommend this book.
Another enjoyable read set in Silver Springs. I’m enjoying the world building that is going on in this small town. Sadie’s fear of her ex is fairly common, unfortunately, especially when the ex is a position of perceived power. An intriguing read on your next cross-country drive!
I won this book from Goodreads giveaways. I was not required to give a favorable review All thoughts are my own. I so enjoyed this book. This is another wonderful book from Brenda. This book gives you that there are innocent people out there that get railroaded into being charged for things that they did. Dawson was arrested and spent a year waiting trail for the murder of his adopted parents. His mentally challenged sister has had to live in a special home during this time and when he is finally found not guilty he needs to fix the farm both the house and the farm itself before he can bring her home. Sadie is trying to get a divorce from her husband and she and her son Jayden have been living away from him, but every job she tries to get, Sly gets in the way. He uses his badge to make people afraid of him. When Dawson puts out an ad for a care giver for his sister so he can bring her home she answer the ad, Sly tries to scare her telling her that Dawson is a murderer and then he tries to intimate Dawson himself. But it doesn’t work and Sadie feels he didn’t do it. But Sly makes things really hard for Sadie. I love the way the whole story turned out and look forward to further reads from Brenda.
I’m slowly falling in love with the small town of Silver Springs. If you love to root for the underdogs then this one is for you. Dawson is trying to rebuild his life after being acquitted of murder charges. Sadie is trying to build a life for herself and her son away from her soon-to-be ex-husband. Together they face one battle after the next. My only criticism would be that the ending left me a bit unfulfilled. I know their story ended where it needed to but I still craved a tiny bit more. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
No One But You (Silver Springs, #2) was another great read by Brenda Novak. Sadie has been struggling to make ends meet after her messy divorce. She has a waitressing job that isn’t enough to pay bills and continue to fight for primary custody of her son, Jayden. She will do anything she needs to in order to gain primary custody. She is so desperate that she accepts a position helping Dawson. Unfortunately Dawson stood trial for the murder of his adoptive parents. He was found not guilty but everyone still blames him. Even though it’s risky for her to be on his isolated farm with him, she knows that she needs to do it. Dawson is working hard to fix up the farm and bring his dependent sister home. Sadie gets to know the real Dawson and they grow much closer. I really enjoyed reading Dawson and Sadie’s story and can’t wait to read more by Brenda Novak.
Sadie and Dawson are two broken people trying to put their lives together again. Sadie’s soon-to-be controlling ex, Sly (Silver Springs police officer) won’t let her go and move on with their son, Jayden until Sly decides he wants to and continues to try to control anyone who tries to assist Sadie. Then there is Dawson, recently released from spending a year in jail after being found not guilty of killing his’ adopted parents. He is trying to find out who killed his’ parents, get the family artichoke farm and house back in shape and be able to have custody of his’ special needs sister, Angela who was put in an assisted living center after their parents death.
Even though this is part of the Silver Springs series all the books can be read as a stand alone. Suspenseful romance that I enjoyed reading and will read more from this series.
Looking forward to the new release October 29, 2019 Christmas in Silver Springs
This was another great addition to the Silver Springs series. A mother is trying to get her divorce finalized from her abusive soon-to-be ex-husband. In addition to being a massive jerk, who can be very destructive, he is also a policeman. An evil person is more powerful when in disguise of a public servant. She finds herself alone with no one’s support until she finds a new job and that helps her become free and loved for the first time in years.
This was an excellent story, as usual, from Brenda Novak. I am in the process of reading the Silver Springs series and look forward to many more great stories in this special town.
The second book in the Silver Springs series is better than the first, and I really liked the first one. Dawson Reed is looking for housekeeper and caregiver while he tries to make a make a go of his parents farm. Sadie Harris, struggling to keep primary custody of her 5 year old son, applies for the position. Sadie’s abusive, manipulative ex husband is doing everything in his power to block Sadie from obtaining employment. He feels he can force her into moving back into their home.
Dawson is falsely accused of hacking his adoptive parents to death. He is determined to find the person who killed his parents. Not only to see justice served for his parents, but also to prove to the people of Silver Springs he has been telling the truth. This book is well written and keeps me on edge, guessing who the killer is.
No One But You was a romantic read that packed a ton of action and suspense into it as well. It was one of those books that I didn’t want to end because I was enjoying the love story so much…but I needed to finish because I had to see what happened next and if the bad guys would get what was coming to them.
Sadie feels stuck – she’s a waitress and is estranged from her emotionally abusive husband – who happens to be a police officer and abuses his power. She can’t ever seem to come out far enough ahead to truly escape him and make a life for her and her son, Jayden.
Dawson was accused – and acquitted – of murdering his adoptive parents. After a year in jail during the trial, he’s back home on his parents’ farm, trying to make things right. He wants to bring home his sister, Angela, who needs a caregiver. He needs to get the farm up and running and get everything cleaned up.
When Dawson hires Sadie to help clean up the house and take care of Angela – at a rate that will allow her to finally save up some money to escape her husband – she is worried but knows it may be her only way out. Her soon-to-be ex-husband becomes enraged, knowing that Sadie will finally get away from him.
With her ex-husband spiraling out of control and no one to turn to, Sadie and Dawson turn to each other. My heart was pounding as I read their sweet love story – and rooted for them on every page. Ms. Novak is able to write in such a way that the reader is instantly pulled into the story with characters to fall in love with and a setting you want to live in. I am loving the stories set in Silver Springs, and can’t wait to read the next one.
I checked this ebook out of the library and am only sharing my honest review. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.
You can never go wrong with Brenda Novak. Great writer great stiry
I could not put it down wondering what would happen next!
I really liked this book and the development of characters. I would read more by this author.
Good to see an innocent person receive the admiration & justice he deserves. Likewise a person in an abuse situation escape & stand up to her abuser. Also, I love happy endings.
This book had me riveted from the beginning!
I love all her books. They never disappoint
4.5 gladly bumped to 5. Book two in the Silver Springs series. A little more drama and intrigue alongside some wonderful characters and some not so wonderful characters. Dawson Reed has just arrived home after spending the last year in prison for a murder he didn’t commit. At least, according to him, he didn’t commit it. According to the Silver Springs PD and citizens, he’s guilty as sin even though a jury has acquitted him. They know the truth. While they all silently condemn him he tries to rebuild his life. Part of that rebuilding means getting the farm up and running so that his mentally handicapped sister can come home. One more thing the court system has to approve. He has absolutely no faith in the system that so horribly failed him a year ago.
Sadie Harris is trying to get out of a bad marriage but her soon to be ex won’t let go. Did I mention that he’s one of Silver Springs’ finest men in blue? While he didn’t investigate the Reed murder case he sure has an opinion about the whole thing. Sly’s main focus though is getting Sadie back. He’ll use any means needed to achieve his goal. Any. His pride keeps him from letting her go. Plus, he hates to lose. In anything. Sadie answers Dawson’s ad for a housekeeper/caregiver and gets the job. Everyone warns her about being alone on the farm with a murderer. She just doesn’t see it, though. The Dawson that she knows goes out of his way to make sure that she’s comfortable and safe. Before long things escalate with Sly and then the real fun begins……
There are more intrigues and mysteries in No One but You than what you typically find in one of Brenda Novak’s contemporary romances. I enjoyed the entire read, from cover-to-cover. A few familiar faces from Silver Springs appear in this one, but basically, it’s an entirely new cast of characters.
There were so many twists and turns in this book. I loved it! I love when a book can make you happy, angry, sad, and feel all kinds of emotions. This book did that for me.
Lovely new series by Brenda Novak. A tragic tale of injustice and judgment. An abusive ex-husband out of control, and the need for new beginnings. Dawson and Sadie are strong characters in need of a human touch. This is a good read.
I had liked the previous book in this series, but this one snatched my heart. Impossible not to be sensitized by the story of Dawson and Sadie.
Beginning with Sadie’s story, who was divorcing from her abusive husband (he hadn’t YET beat her, but violence came in the form of words and some actions). He was not facilitating her life. Living in a small town, people did not want to go against him and offer her a better job where she could pay her expenses, especially with lawyer since she was fighting for the custody of her 5-year-old son .
Detail: Sly, Sadie’s husband, was a cop. And he threat and bullies everybody.
That’s when she decides to attend an interview to work at a ranch. Dawson Harris’ ranch.
Dawson had spent a year in prison as justice tried to prove who killed his adoptive parents – and guilt at the time fell on his shoulders. The whole town believed in his guilt even after the evidence was circumstantial and he was released.
At first moment Sadie was worried, but she needed the money.
Dawson wanted to reinstate his parents’ ranch and bring his sister Angela back. She was at a clinic in Los Angeles. She had mental limitation and would need a person with her to accompany her on her chores. He worked hard rebuilding the ranch haters had stolen while he was in jail, and in the fields.
As the days went by, Sadie realized Dawson could never have killed his parents. Friendship grew, as did the attraction between them.
Sly did not want to give the divorce before. Now, he would never let himself be traded for an ex-con.
A deep story about new beginning and resilient people.
Touching and romantic.
5 stars
Amazing story. Brenda Novak mixes
suspense, mystery, arson, attempted
murder, abuse of power, psychological
abuse, a child like adult along with everyday
happenings. There is also faith, friendship,
reliability with a touch of romance.
The two main characters are strong with
flaws but working to make make life better.
This story takes us back to Silver Springs,
California.

of Aiyana Turner’s boys who lived at the
New Horizons Boys Ranch in his younger
years. He was adopted by a couple who
were later hacked to death. He was jailed
then tried and found not guilty. But the
town dubbed him a murderer.
Sadie Harris is an almost divorcée with a
young child. Her soon to be ex-husband
is a police officer who does not want to
allow the final divorce to go though. For
year she has been psychologically abuse.
Dawson is looking for a housekeeper to
get the house ready to bring his sister home.
He hires Sadie. Then their troubles begin.
You will love this story.
I volunteered to read this eBook. Thanks to
the author for the opportunity. My opinion
is my own.
