Great story mixing mystery, plot and romance
The whole story is fascinating. It seems started as a romance and ends up as an action movie.
From the beginning, I really liked when the heroine Ember discovers that her new boss, Gray, the vet from a small town is the target of all singles, and he manages to give nothing to them.
The atmosphere is heavy from the start with the mystery surrounding the small town, the tension of women towards Ember because of her proximity with the doc when she works for him, the tension between the doc and her, but it’s nothing facing to the secret of the city and rumors of failed experiments of the army. Ember is a innocent in this little world with this doctor who hides a heavy past and protects the city against an enemy that few know.
Little by little she discovers this man, but the threats seem to come closer with the return of enemies.

A heart-racing home run read for me that kept me eager to learn what happened next. Thrilling suspense, humor, scenes that leave you breathless, spine-chilling danger, and fiery passionate romance make this a most electrifying read.
Doc (Gray Caldwell) the Veterinarian is the most wanted bachelor in the town of Heart’s Edge. Desperate for a Vet tech, he hires September (Ember) Delwin via a phone call. Doc’s secret past keeps him from having a peaceful life. He also pays the fawning women that seek him out no mind. Meeting Ember, who is somewhat of a klutz, has him in a whirlwind of uncontrollable desires. Though she is years younger than him, he is impressed that she does not falter in her job. When the danger of the past reappears in Heart’s Edge protecting the town and Ember is his number one priority. Many twists and bends occur before their awesome ending.
Thrilling well-thought-out read from start to finish. Intriguing backstories give insight into Doc, Ember and the legend of Heart’s Edge. A full cast of admirable characters brings the story to life. Unconditional love finds a home in this story. Doc and Ember’s chemistry is spot-on; love them together. I found this to be a most gratifying read.
This book has everything steamy hot chemistry, mystery, espionage, small town gossip, grief, secrets, good friends, cats, dogs and love. Nicole has written a wickedly awesome story so beautifully orchestrated that it pulls your heart strings in every direction as only Nicole can. This is the story of Gray known by the town as the handsome single sexy Veterinarian “Doc” the heart throb of every single women. Doc is very closed and keeps to himself until he hires young petite clumsy Ember as his vet tech. It’s when Ember and Doc work together each day that the story begins. These two unlikely people learn to trust communicate and love. This is a page turner as Doc fights his demons and brings true peace to Hearts Edge. A story with so much mystery and suspense you aren’t able to put it down. Ember and Gray share such chemistry that they will live on long after you finish their story. WOW! WOW!!!!
You Miss Nicole are one of my favorite authors!!! I cannot imagine a world without you in it. This story is so well written its like a peaceful flowing river that is so serene but yet around the corner is a very gorgeous waterfall that continues to flow with a rainbow rising out of it. I loved this story! Ember was the perfectly written to fit with all the angles of Doc. These two make the pages of your story sizzle with all the candy coated surprises that you create with every character you write. Be expecting a heck of a ride and I say Welcome back to Hearts Edge!
I am honestly reviewing an ARC copy.
This is a good story. I liked Ember and Doc although it wasn’t always easy to see their connection.
Ember and Doc
Opposites attract… And that seems to be true regarding Ember and Doc.
Ember the young and innocent girl and Doc, the end thirty-er, hardened by life and cynical… Both characters are very vivid, true to themselves and comprehensible in every way possible.
I loved the contradiction as well as I loved the suspenseful, mysterious and thrilling plot. Breathtakingly thrilling parts alternate with sensual parts and parts that made me laugh. What a mixture!
And then there’s this hot passion that almost made me fear that my e-reader could catch fire … WOW!
I could have melted into a puddle myself just by reading those parts…
I L.O.V.E.D this book! So much!
What a great book this was. Once I started it was hard to put down. Heart’s Edge will keep you on edge with all the twists, emotions, surprises and happenings. Dr. Gray was all alpha with an attitude. Ember, his vet assistant was adorable and so sweet compared to the Doc. A slow burn with lots of chemistry. The characters were well-developed and the storyline was engaging. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
I loved this book! Fun, hot, suspenseful, action-packed and exciting, this read is the whole package. I thought that Ember and Gray made an amazing couple. She is the perfect blend of light, sweet and quirky to balance out his dark, solemn, coldness. Thick, sultry attraction, smoky chemistry and slow-burning, steamy scenes will have you needing a cool drink, while the sweet emotions, humor and the tender moments will have you smiling and your heart melting. The storyline keeps you engaged as it unfolds and the likable characters will have you very firmly rooting for a HEA . I found this to be a swoon worthy, charming and totally delightful age gap romance.
Ember beneath the Ashes…
Small towns are known to be laid back, quiet, slow paced. Not so in the town of Heart’s Edge. Speaking of edge, that was me, on the edge of my seat reading this story. It has enough suspense and intrigue to have the reader anticipating what happens nextwith bated breath. The characters in this town harbor secrets and are not always what they seem on the surface.
Take veterinarian “Just call me Doc” Gray Caldwell, single and sinfully delicious causing all the women in the town to blatantly throw themselves at him trying to get his attention. Doc is not interested in the least. He does not want or need the drama andalso feels he does not deserve to be loved. He does love the town of Heart’s Edge and does everything in his power to protect it from harm’s way.
It becomes even more a priority when a wisp of a girl Ember literally stumbles into his office and his heart. She is like a breath of fresh air that he desperately needs in his life. Their story is a slow burn romance that threatens to blaze out of control. If any couple can struggle through hurt and tragedy to come out the other side to find happiness, it’s Gray and Ember.
No Good Doctor is a great read.interesting, engagging, intense filled with secrets, suspense, action and romance..a romance story of Gray a vet and Ember a vet tech. great storyline, interesting characters with great chemistry, wel done! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
There is a long history regarding the story of Nine in the small town of Heart’s Edge and no one is more familiar with the history than the mysterious Dr. Gary “Doc” Caldwell. His desire to keep the sleepy town safe goes beyond the destruction it received many years ago when deception, betrayal and greed rampant among his colleagues. The past reared it’s ugly head as danger returned to the quiet town with avengers and he’s determined to keep the secret buried.
Doc Caldwell is a veterinarian and owner of The Menagerie in the small town of Heart’s Edge. He’s a chick magnet due his physical appearance and the most eligible bachelor within miles away. He didn’t acknowledge any advances thrown at him because of his past guilty actions. He hires Ember as his veterinary tech and things changed and a light switch is turned on.
September “Ember” Deiwen is a young single lady who was hired as a vet tech for the Menagerie. She just moved to Heart’s Edge because she needed a change of scenery after the death of her father. She was unaware of her new employer popularity until her initial day on the job.
An amazing story of secrets, heart pounding suspense and chaos that will ultimately leave you gasping for air.
****I voluntarily received an Advance Review Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review****
He is the moody town vet with secrets. She is his assistant with a curiosity streak a mile wide who is determined to know his. Well things get exciting, emotional suspenseful with a lot of twists and turns. Throw in love in the mix and what a ride. A page turning book you can’t put down. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This was one fantastic book to read with great character and storyline development that made this book one very enjoyable read!
Lots of twists and turns that keeps you flipping the pages. Love Gray and Ember’s story.
Favorite quote: Gray ~ “Then in flame, I was reborn. Now, it’s flame where I find her, my Firefly, this sweet ember that ignited the spark inside me and taught me how to live again.”
“But it wouldn’t be make-believe; If you believed in me.”
Wow. This powerful story is the guts of the whole Heart’s Edge community. Doc and Ember – AKA Dr. Broodypants and his Firefly – meet when she becomes the new vet tech at his animal clinic, but they truly band together when an old threat returns to Heart’s Edge and Doc is the only one who knows the truth about what they want.
<< It's the only way I dare to keep a monster here, a demon in the freezer. >>
This book will drill its way home right in the center of your heart. It’s filled with gut-wrenching emotional insights and characters that you wish were real. The action and suspense are masterfully threaded throughout the smoldering love scenes, making this a non-stop read, even though it’s probably the longest book I’ve read this year. There’s plenty of humor sprinkled along the way, along with imagery and emotions so vividly described you’ll feel every bend and dip in the road as if you’ve been to those woods yourself many times.
Ember’s inherent optimism, despite her own heartaches, is the blinding force field that finally melts the ice around Doc’s perennial mask of cool efficiency that not even the years of “fluttering hopefuls” have been able to crack. The mysteries only alluded to in the previous book and novella are fully explained here, and I guarantee it’s not anything you would have imagined.
<<“Is starting over even possible?” he asks softly.>>
Yes, yes it is, but only after the truth of the past has been thoroughly cleansed and aired out to dry. The HEA was as triumphant as it was cathartic, and left me with a huge book hangover. This book is more than just a snack or even a delectable dessert; it’s a full-course buffet of heat, humor, and heart that you’ll want to settle in for and savor every delicious bite. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Open your copy of No Good Doctor and get swept away by Doc Caldwell; swoon and sass entangle in this story and leave the reader both satisfied and wanting more! Doc is the only veterinarian in this small town and he has a bit of a mysterious past. While the some in the town guess about his past and others talk he keeps everything tight to the vest. Who doesn’t love a mysterious man, especially one great with pets? This attacks every available female in town and while he loves to flirt, he turns them all down. Enter Ember and even though he tries to resist the sparks and heat fly.
This author knows how to write stories that are brilliant and detailed but my favorite of her talents lies in her character development. I could not have loved Doc Caldwell anymore then I do. He has this perfect balance of characteristics that makes him both lovable a frustrating at the same time. I felt for him yet loved when Ember set him back on track. Ember was a fun character as well because she was quite but at the same time held her own.
The chemistry between these two is wonderful and tension filled. I could feel it all the way through my kindle; and ohh what a story that makes. I loved the balance these two brought each other and that they were so different yet fit so well. I could re-read this book again and just hit their dialogue and still find the book wonderful. Highly recommended! I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review.
She Was His Firefly, The Light In His Darkness
Heart’s Edge is once again about to be rocked by secrets and deception. This small town has more to hide than you could ever have imagined. I did not see thing one coming.
Doc has been a part of this small town for years. He has just always kept himself a step apart. He’s the town veterinarian that every single woman makes it a point to cross his path. The most desired man in town has a fan club. Too bad for them, he pays them no attention.
Ember is new in town. A beautiful, young woman just hired on for her first veterinary technician job. Doc is a bit intimidating, but Ember was meant for this position. Now if only she could stay focused on her job, rather than her handsome and elusive boss.
There was an incredible intensity between Ember and Gray. They just had an amazing connection and you felt it. It was an unlikely pairing, but it was utter perfection. However, an age gap and the doctor’s secret past may just tear them apart.
Another great story with more characters I cannot wait to know more about. I was kept wondering and trying to figure out what could possibly happen next. It was action packed and constantly keep me guessing. Another riveting suspenseful ride in Heart’s Edge.
A great story
The characters were so great and the chemistry between the two main characters was scorching hot.
This book was filled with action, suspense, intrigue and twists and turns with a great ending.

****Doc and his Firefly
Since Warren found his happily ever after in No Perfect Hero it’s only fair for the good doctor to get his story next. Doc whom we met in the first book of Hearts Edge is shrouded in mystery. We all want to know his story. Of course it takes a Firefly to get the story out of him. Doc has dark secrets that he doesn’t think Ember or ever the town of Hearts Edge should know about. He thinks this is safest for everyone. Well, all those secrets are about to come back in to town to bite him in the ass. Can Doc and the hero’s of Hearts Edge save the day? Go get the book and find out.
I read an advance copy of this book
Doc & Ember just seem to have that connection. Ember just makes Doc feel more calm and centered when she is around and Ember feels safe with Doc. Both want to protect the other and they have such good chemistry. The book has so many twists & turns and Doc has his secrets. When someone from his past shows up he knows Heart’s Edge is in danger like it was once before but this time he has more reason to want to protect the people of his little town….
This was such a good read! Nicole never disappoints with her stories. Once you start reading it, you get lost in it and you can’t put it down!
Definitely recommend
