One thing I know Riley will never fail at…Is bring you the hottest Military Romance out there! Nix is a new favorite and boy do I have a crush. He made me swoon and turn into a piddle of goo, over and over. Mckenna also stole the show. She is a feisty heroine and can make a big bad military man fall to his knees. Well eventually she gets there.
This is not just an ordinary steamy romance. Nope, you get a lot of angst and drama in the mix. I loved the characters and even the teenage attitude that comes with the whole package. Nixon’s Promise is a MUST READ!!! You will be glued to this book and forget about adulting for a couple of days <3
I am torn with Nixon’s Promise, by Riley Edwards. I really enjoyed a huge portion of it, but disappointed with others. It is very well written, with alternating POV between McKenna and Nixon.
Nixon Swagger is a former Navy SEAL who meets McKenna after he returns home. He has just left the service under circumstances that are not really fully explained and he has kind of a bad reputation in the town from when he was a younger kid. The townspeople do not appear to be willing to let him live that youthful reputation down. 30 year old McKenna has custody of her teenage brother and sister, following the recent death of her father and stepmother.
I enjoyed the romance between McKenna and Nixon. They were very sweet and tender with each other and the love scenes were I’d say 3 on a rating of 5.
The story starts off as a relationship story between Nixon and McKenna as he helps her regain her relationship with her troubled brother and sister. Then about the 50% mark it takes off as a suspense story when an old colleague asks Nixon to look into signs that there’s some sort of terrorist event pending in Philadelphia. Nixon forms a squad and software guru McKenna ends up helping out. There’s additional danger in the form of a old nemesis of Nixon’s that threatens his happiness.
I was disappointed in the hfn ending after a gruesome finale. Due to this and because the bad situation that drove his whole unit out of the SEALs is never fully addressed, I’m giving 3 stars.

If Riley Edwards has asked me for ingredients for what I love in a novel…she added all of my favorites in Nixon’s Promise.
Small town romance
Alpha male with a huge heart
Suspenseful plotline
Family and friends that add just the right dash of flavor
This is one of Riley’s best books to date! Filled with heat, suspense, chemistry, an alpha male who isn’t over the top, but completely yummy and insta-love-worthy. Nixon’s Promise is one to add to your TBR now so you have it ready to read when it releases.
Nixon Swagger is a former Navy SEAL. He’s home trying to repair and update his family home and farm from years of neglect. His father passed away several years ago and unfortunately his land has sat vacant since. Nixon doesn’t mind hard work, but he appreciates the helping hand of his neighbor’s brother, Zack, a teen who has also found himself recently without parents. Zack is living with his older sisters not too far from his own farm and Nix really doesn’t mind Zach’s help especially when it comes to Zack’s oldest sister, McKenna. Nix is all too willing to provide male guidance to the teenage boy and helping out McKenna, who has her hands full raising her younger siblings, if it means spending time with her. She is smart, beautiful, and so giving. It isn’t long before Nixon finds he wants to spend any spare moment in her presence.
McKenna Wilson has her hands full and is all too grateful when her sexy neighbor offers to help. She has been beside herself in raising her much younger brother and sister. Actually, lost doesn’t even begin to describe her emotions on taking on this monumental task. So when Nix steps in on numerous occasions to help, give a guiding hand, just be support to lean on, McKenna lets him, especially when she notices how Zack looks up to him as a role model. Now if only she could get her sister on board and life would be great.
Aside from the family drama, Nixon is approached from one of his former teammates to help the government stop a terrorist attack, in an off the books way. Nix is highly intrigued, knowing he’s been wanting to form his own company once he got his life in order and like they say, there is no time like the present…and so the Gemini Group is formed.
I don’t want to give more away, because you really should experience the suspenseful plot yourself….sooooo….
Nixon’s Promise is the origin story, per say, as to how this group is formed. It’s brilliantly put together, along with introducing the other members of the Gemini Group and the small town in which the base of operations will take place. McKenna, Nixon, and her family will play pivotal roles going forward…I have a feeling…so if you love Riley’s books I’d suggest picking up this one, especially because it’s sooooooo good!
This book is now in my top 5 of favorite books by Riley Edwards.
Nixon’s Promise is . First let’s start with the cover, sexxyyyy. Nixon is all alpha, he’s confident but not arrogant. The way her takes charge in this book is sexy to me. He has traditional gentlemen but with a touch of modern flare. McKenna is smart, caring, and according to Nixon she’s hot.
The entire book was page turning goodness. The secondary characters are great and they will also steal your heart. Just an overall beautiful story.
Nixon’s Promise (Gemini Group Book 1)
By: Riley Edwards
Nixon Swagger
Do men like Nixon Swagger really exist?? Riley Edwards has done it again by bringing you the new series Gemini Group, with fantastic compelling characters, supporting characters, and breathtaking storyline.
Nixon stole my heart but McKenna also made me wish I was her. There was love, action, and tear-jerking moments. The story kept me guessing, as well as, turning the pages.
I could not put this book down!!! Completely addictive and I cannot wait for the next book in the Gemini series. Absolutely 5 huge stars and a MUST read!!!
Any book by Riley Edwards is a 5 star read and Nixon’s Promise just proves my point!! Don’t miss out and pick your copy up ASAP!!
Thank you Riley Edwards for another phenomenal book!! Please keep them coming!!!
Oh my gosh did I ever love this book, and to think it’s the first in a series, so there is more to come. Nixon’s Promise is extremely well written with characters that touch the heart. What a remarkable storyline that will make you laugh, smile, hold you in it’s suspenseful grip and leave you hot and bothered all at the same time.
After the death of their parents, leaving McKenna to hold what’s left of the family together. She is a strong independent woman, who is trying to raise her two grieving teenage siblings but has no clue how to help them through it. But her life changes when she meets Nixon, the town’s war hero who has returned home to figure out what to do with his life, now that he’s left the Navy Seals. Nixon has returned home to the farm his father raised him on hoping to find peace and a path to follow. But returning to his roots also bring back grudges from his youth. But when he meets McKenna at the local feed store and later finds out she’s his neighbor in need of help, his life does a complete 180. From this point in the storyline the author will take you on an amazing journing. A trip full of surprises, laughs, heartbreak, tenderness, suspense and romance.
In a perfect world every woman would have a Nixon in their lives. His strength, compassion, loyalty, and fierce protection of what is his, will have your heart melting and leave a smile on your face. Not only is the book is appropriately named because if Nixon makes a promise you can bet your life on it but his name says it all: Nixon Swagger definitely has all the Swagger it takes to back up everything he says and does. Ladies you definitely need to grab this book up ASAP, trust me you will not regret it. This is a great start to what this reader thinks is going to a phenomenal series and I am anxiously waiting for book 2: Jameson and Kennedy’s story.
2 Thumbs up and 5 Outstanding Stars for Nixon’s Promise.
Nixon Swagger…holy moly that man is *sigh, insert dreamy eyes* swoon worthy. He’s a moth to McKenna’s flame and when they meet, the sparks sure do fly! Nixon, being the alpha male former SEAL, falls hard for the single country girl struggling to raise her 2 younger siblings. When tragedy and drama arise, it takes the whole Gemini team help him save the country from terrorism and the girl from the hands of a crazy small town sheriff out for revenge. Riley Edward’s has proven without a doubt that she cannot write a bad book…ever!
Returning home after spending years in the Navy, Nixon is ready to slow down and go home. Small town life is the same yet different than he remembers and it all starts to change for him when he meets McKenna. A strong female lead with an Alpha male that the dynamic works is simply amazing. Throw in small town drama and a job that takes a bit to understand and you have the perfect book.
I don’t want to give too much away but this book does not disappoint in any way.
I loved this book. It has everything you need in a great book. Nixon was a Navy Seal and he’s home to take care of his father’s property. Makenna is his neighbor and met her thru her pony and goat who came on his property. Makenna is trying to raise her brother and sister after their parents died in an accident. There is action, heat and her siblings are fighting each other. There is trouble brewing and its unsettling. There is witt and caring and understanding. HEA
Holy crap this is a good book. I wish that there were more stars to give it. I need a Nixon in my life. This was a fantastic start to a new series and I seriously need the next book like now. I fell in love with Nixon and his crew and I know already this entire series will end up on my to be re-read list. I started this book and finished on the same day. I could not put it down.
Loved this story. Great characters, small town setting, grief and loss healing, family, corruption, Seals and love.
This story has it all and it lays it out in a way that captures your attention and holds it.

Can not wait till Riley’s next in the series is out in Sept.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book in her new series . From the beginning it keeps your attention and doesn’t stop. Throw in a girl raising her 2 teenage siblings and good looking man and his new team, Home land security and some terrorist and you have the making of a great new series. Can’t wait for the next one
I love Ms. Edwards stories. They are so romantic, but more than that, it’s a woman’s fantasy of what a man should do and how to treat a woman. Walking on the outside of the sidewalk, opening doors, meeting them when they come home. It’s all over the book and how most of her character’s live. In chapter 6, there is a great paragraph where “Nix was thinking about all the ways he’d like to prove his theory right. In his vast experience, woman preferred a man who was confident enough to know what she needed but gentle in the execution. Until they hit the sheets – then there was a hole new set of rules. His. Confidence still played a part, along with a healthy does of control, which always led to an explosion and ended with gentle concern. Same principle, different order of operation.” This was reiterated throughout the book as Nix came to realize what a wonderful person McKenna was. Being blocked by a 15 and 17 year old is also funny. He’s never felt that way before. McKenna ghosts him for almost two weeks and Nix has had enough. I absolutely loved the buildup of this relationship. When other characters eventually come into the story, the banter increases and its very entertaining.
This is an awesome first chapter in this series and I highly recommend ANYTHING Ms. Edwards writes.
I received this advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review.
Riley Edwards has done it again. Great story line with hero and heroine dealing with family values as well as attraction for each other. Also dealing with mission op involving terrorism
All I can say is holly hotness!!!! This book will pull you in and keep you entranced in the world of Nixon and McKenna. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours with this amazing couple. Nixon’s funny, sweet, protective bossy badass self just has you swooning from the first time he opens his mouth to McKenna’s sweet, witty, stubborn, independent not afraid to go toe to toe with the hot badass himself or a couple of douchbags who think they are the law, that girl is what you hope you will be like if you were in her shoes. You can feel the connection with these two right from the start but it wont be easy for Nixon and he knows it but he isnt afraid to jump in with both feet. Having two unruly teenage siblings depending on her, McKenna thinks she has to do it all and on her own but Nixon is having none of it from her nor the teenagers and shows them just how things are gonna go. Just when you think they have it all conquered Riley throws you a curve ball or two to keep you on the edge of your seat and make these two give it all they got to get all they want. Definitely a must read and one of Riley’s Best. One’s. Yet!
Let me first say Brilliant writing and Absolutely Awesome story once again by Riley Edwards and just when I think she cant top her last book she completely blows me away again. Nixon is the first book of the Gemini Group and series and its absolutely a book that will keep you hooked from page one until the end and its filled with suspense and chemistry and romance and steamy sex and action packed and let me say former navy seals. I’m not going to give anything away because this book is absolutely a must read and get the full effect and get sucked into the characters emotions. Bravo Riley Edwards!!!
#nixonspromise
I didn’t want this book to end! The first in the Gemini Group series, the book includes the formation of the Gemini Group, so it’s a good base to have read. But, it’s so much more. I think one of Riley Edwards’s strengths as a writer is her ability to have her characters be simultaneously badass, caring, stern, and loving – and she does this perfectly with Nixon in his interactions with McKenna and her siblings. McKenna, too, is a character I want to read more of; I hope she at least pops up in future books. I found McKenna’s experience hard to read – no spoilers! – so brace yourself for that. This was definitely a one-sitting read, and it has it all – suspense, heat, character development, and eye candy (do you also visualize these guys while you read?).
This is the first book in a new series, so not only do we get Nixon’s relationship with McKenna, we’re also introduced to Gemini Group. There are separate storylines regarding the formation of Gemini and Nixon’s romance, but the story flows well and I never felt overwhelmed by the number of characters introduced.
McKenna had her hands full raising her siblings, but Nixon didn’t hesitate to step in when needed. There was plenty of heat between them, balanced with humor and a touch of suspense. I’m looking forward to book two.
This is the first book in Riley Edwards new Gemini Group series and it was a hit for me! Nixon Swagger has finally returned home after years serving his country. He’s trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life and returns to the small town and family farm that he left so long ago. What he didn’t expect was to run into a woman that would impress and surprise him from the moment that he saw her. McKenna Wilson likes the quiet life in this small community and is now raising her siblings here since their parents passed away unexpectedly. Small towns are loaded with rumors and gossip and she’s heard all about Nixon and plans to keep her distance no matter how hot he is. Well fate has other plans for these two and they have some big hurdles in their future. Two angst ridden teenagers, home grown terrorists and unscrupulous local law enforcement are among the many things that will be thrown into their path to happiness. This story has it all; action, angst, heat, lust and love. It’s written from 3rd person POV for Nixon and 1st person POV for McKenna so I really got to connect with these characters. I recommend this book completely and am looking forward to the next book in this series.
Riley Edwards just keeps getting better and better and if you love a book that keeps the chemistry flying between 2 people who can’t believe it’s happening, drag in a couple of stinky, skanky men, a group of hotter than holy smokes alpha men with another problem to solve and you get a heart racing, edge of your seat, AWESOME book. I give this one at least a bazillion stars…Loved it
