C.L. Schneider again gave us an amazing read with two great worlds that I simply love. Dahlia is such a character and reading about her journey has been fascinating to me. As someone who was not a fan of the genre, this book, this author sure have changed my views. I give this book 5 stars!

Nite Fire: Smoke and Mirrors by C.L. Schneider is the third book in the Nite Fire series. This book can be read as a standalone although ideally you should read them in order as each book follows on from the one previous.
This book is everything I have come to expect from this series – action packed, intense and full of mystery and intrigue. The characters just get better each time we delve into their story. I never find it difficult getting into these books, it is so easy to fall back into this world.
The author does a fantastic job at creating a universe that combines the normal and the supernatural. It is completely believable the whole way through and fascinating to read about. I have enjoyed this book just as much as the others and I cannot wait to see what else is to come.
This is the third book of the series and just like the others I was lost amongst the pages and completely hooked I just couldn’t pull my eyes away. There just so much going on that you can’t just be drawn to the storyline from mystery to reality and your just so intrigued that you want to read on so stopping isn’t an issue while reading this novel. I have loved every second of this novel and can’t wait to sink my teeth into more . This is a must read even if your like me and not usually into the fantasy/shapeshifter reads but don’t be too quick to judge this may just change your views!
As soon as I read the description of Smoke and Mirrors, I knew all plans were off until I finished reading. A serial killer and clues to follow that are too good to be true? Nothing gets past Dahlia for long but the ride in between is phenomenal. I’ve read the previous books and love Dahlia as well as her relationship with Detective Creed. Their banter is genuine in both its irritation and respect.
The two worlds involved are incredibly rich in the details provided and, while I never suggest reading a series out of order, the reader is given enough to get by on the previous events bother normal and supernatural. But why dive into the the third when the set up is the best part?!
All types of readers will enjoy this book and the entire series. It’s mystery with supernatural poured on top, deliciously mixed in, and with a list of compelling characters, C.L. Schneider will have you hooked.
Nite Fire Smoke and Mirrors (Nite Fire #3) by C.L. Schneider
4 Stars!!!!
I am just hooked. This is the third book by this author I have read and I just couln’t put it down. The author has really got such a refreshing style. The characters just jump right off the pages. I felt as though I was right in the action as the drama unfolds.
I really find that I am drawn to Dahlia’s character. The way that the book unfolds just draws you deeper and deeper into the story. I really like that it is a supernatural mystery. The mix of human and supernatural beings just adds to the story. The partnership of Dahlia and Creed really adds to the drama. Evens being a human and coping in the Supernatural world is just another added bonus. I really like how the author draws out the drama and the mystery . I will definitely be reading more from this author and I hope this series in the future.
I was very excited to see this book! This is the third in the series. I would recommend reading the other two books before this one. It’s not necessary but there is a lot of reference to stuff that happened in them. In this one Dahlia and Creed are searching for whoever is leaving body parts all over the city. Yes I said body parts! Her sidekick Evans is back helping her all he can. Plus doing all those sidekick activities while looking for his sister.
This is a fast moving story full of action. It’s easy to read and follow along. The characters are full of zest and that Dahlia can wield a weapon. I have to say I was happy to see Coen in here. He is always so mysterious and sexy. The story answered many questions that arose in the last two stories.
On a side note I love that cover and the title. Both fit the story perfectly!
This intriguing fantasy world built by the author continues in epic fashion in this third book of the series. I continue to be enchanted by the world I dive into within the pages and the characters I meet. Dahlia continues to be a favorite. I really just love her for reasons I’m not sure I can fully explain. Simply put, I love this genre, mixing fantasy and reality seamlessly with plenty of intrigue and mystery. Beautiful details, fast paced plot development, excellently written. Loved it.
Nite Fire: Smoke & Mirrors (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider is a four star novel. Even though this type of novel is not my favorite, I have grown to really fall in love with the characters and the development of this story. The author is very good at bringing the characters to life, like they were actually a part of my town and I could meet them on the street. Even though this is a longer book, I was still able to read it fairly quickly because of how easy of a read it is. Dahlia is of the supernatural world but lives mostly as human. She works as a police officer by day. When her and her partner start coming across disembodied people, she knows she has her work cut out for her and also knows she will need to use her gifts to make sure to stop whatever creature might be lurking. Will she be able to solve the case and also keep her secret with her partner?
Smoke and Mirrors is the third novel in the Nite Fire series by C.L. Schneider. This is my second novel by this author.
While I have not read the second novel, I was excited to start this. I was not confused much while reading.
Dahlia and her partner Alex Creed work on a case involving dismembered bodies that are not human. While investigating, Dahlia is forced into worlds: the world of humans and the world of the supernatural. Will she be able to solve the case and find the one responsible?
I really enjoyed this novel and loved the two worlds aspect with Dahlia feeling conflicted which fit with her personality. I love reading about her. She is a strong, interesting, female character that is relatable and shows a lot of emotion.
With school starting again, it hard to get into a book, but this book was a roller-coaster that left me wanting to finish reading even though I had papers and assignments to finish.
For anyone looking for a interesting take on the supernatural genre, I highly recommend this series. The covers are so pretty, they just pull you in.

Wow! This incredibly phenomenal author has managed to amaze me once again! This fantasy read by C.L. Schneider is the third book in the Nite Fire Series, a series that should absolutely be read in order as each new book follows the one before.
This storyline is a one of a kind, it’s intense, action-packed, detailed, shocking,
unpredictable and somehow funny all at the same time. There’s always something going on that kept me highly entertained and sitting on the edge of my seat.
Honestly, I loved everything about this storyline so I was able to finish this book in record time as I couldn’t get enough of these characters. I’m always taken on a wild journey when I dive into a book by this author and for that reason, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for their next fantasy read!
This is the third book in this series, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. This story is full of action from shapeshifters to creatures that lay hidden in the night, this story will keep you turning pages. Dahlia and Alex are great characters. They make the story come to life plus keep you on your toes. Secrets and killings, Dahlia has her hands full. But what will happen when worlds collide and secrets struggle to stay hidden? I highly recommend this book, you won’t regret picking it up.

Smoke & Mirrors is the third book in the Nite Fire series.
It isn’t holding my attention like I hope it would but I’m committed to finishing the series to know how the complete story unravels.
This is the 3rd book in the Nite Fire Series and wow they just keep getting better and better. Like the second book this could be read as a standalone but I do really recommend reading them in order as the story is amazing. The books are full of mystery, danger, secrets and paranormal creatures. They keep you gripped.
In this story Alex Creed and Dahlia Nite are on the hunt for the creature supernatural or human that is leaving a load of dismembered body parts behind them. Trying to hide as much as she can about other creatures from her partner Dahlia has the challenge of that as well as solving and finding the true murderer.
Added to this in her spare time she teams up with her other partner Evans to solve and find his sister. Why did she disappeared and can they rescue her before its too late?
Dahlia Nite is back to up her old tricks again and this time, she is chasing a banshee through the streets of Sentinel City, something very unusual must have brought it there, but after she and her Sidekick Casey Evans take it out and they succeed despite its best efforts to kill them in return, but no sooner than they are done that they are called in to another gruesome scene at the riverbank, a lot of body parts have been uncovered by the recent storms and not all of them are human, neither are the bits of tanned skin they find at the scene either, but it isn’t just an animal attack, there are also precision cuts where the parts have been removed and it is in a place where nobody really goes and hasn’t done for many years, but when they are called over to a nearby sewer where there are more body parts floating around, the two decide to go into the tunnels and take a look around.
What they find there looks like a converted jail cell, complete with bars, but it also looks abandoned and smells like it too, as Casey checks out all of the cells, Dahlia hears something moving further down the tunnels and goes to investigate it. They know that she is tailing them and that they are leading her somewhere specific, but she has no idea where, until she enters the basement of an old steel works where rumours of toxic waste and man eating mutated piranhas abound, but what she finds there is more sinister, multiple gurney’s covered in blood where it looks like the victims were strapped on while they were tortured and dismembered, she can sense the horror which lies in wait for her as well. She spies the person running along a skywalk being followed by another three people, but more are on their way as Dahlia is showered in bullets and only just avoids them before being engaged in hand to hand combat, again! She is surprised by the speed and agility, they look human, but she has a feeling that they aren’t, but there is no telltale smell or other indication telling her what they are, but she does her usual, but gets no further information from any of them before she is forced to set the place alight, hoping that there are no more victims being caged there as well.
As she tries to explain away the destruction and get Casey out of the way of it, Detective Creed doesn’t believe her, again and tja Captain of the force wants answers yesterday. The only lead they have is the van tyre tracks which they found and as it is the only solid thing, it means that they will be doing their best to track it down. Just as they finish the meeting Casey informs them of a crime at a past crime scene of an altercation which may have a non-human origin, so all three head three due to its proximity to the steel works. When they get there, Creed interviews the witness and Dahlia goes to look for clues to what happened and what creatures were involved, she finds some blood and some fabric, one she shares and one she examined and keep for further tests, but what she initially finds explains the mystery of how she wasn’t able to smell or use her senses to identify her assailants earlier. She also sees the evidence of a struggle and works out that it probably isn’t prudent to stay in the dark as it is in the backyard of the criminals they are looking for.
Later that night, Dahlia is running tests and comparisons to try and find out what type of creature the suspect is when the alarm in her gym goes off and when she gets there, she knows exactly who and why, she talks to Casey again about the dangers he was just walking into and although she understands that he just wants to feel close to and find his sister, she still tells him off until they are interrupted by someone being attacked, they try to help, but the victim doesn’t speak their language and as they are trying to decide what to do, they escape, now they have to worry a out then becoming a victim of a different type, these worries are put onto the back burner when a new lead appears and when it shows other connections, the hunt is in for her and Creed.
Will they be able to figure out who is behind the abductions and dismemberments, or will they fall foul of more than they can handle as the tangled web of secrets is revealed? This is another whirlwind of a tide across realms where revelations are not always what they seem and which hook you into their mysteries as well.
4 ½ Stars
Smoke & Mirrors is the third book in the Nite Fire Series by C. L Schneider. There is so much to love about this series- an urban fantasy with plenty of supernatural and paranormal elements, danger, shifters, action, adventure, mystery, suspense, drama, intrigue, fantastic characters, brilliant world building, and much more.
A lot has happened since we started the first book, so I really recommend reading the other two books first before starting on this one- as there is important backstory and character details to be discovered there, which will enhance your reading experience of this book.
This is a complex and multi-layered story, with so much going on, and as I have come to expect from Ms. Schneider, there is more to the story than first meets the eye. I was completely immersed in the story, devouring every word- and loving every exciting minute.
This is a fantastic third instalment, and a wonderful addition to the intriguing, unique, and very imaginative series. Ms. Schneider has proved, yet again, to be a quite the masterful storyteller and talented author.
I really recommend this book/series to anyone who loves a great paranormal story with supernatural elements, crime + investigation, action, and adventure.
Thank you, C.L. Schneider!
