The only thing worse than having a hot neighbor you’re too intimidated to talk to is accidentally hitting his cat with your car. Felix Lane was perfectly content to spend the rest of his days with Sunny, his canary life companion, in their quiet little corner of the suburbs. But then Kirk Shoo with his unusual eyes moved in across the street, and Felix’s carefully constructed life is starting to … starting to unravel.
When your every bad-boy fantasy lingers at the mailbox, stands too close and smells too damn good, what’s an under-appreciated administrative assistant to do? Besides sneak out the backdoor to go to work? But when Kirk’s cat runs out in front of Felix on his way home, he has no choice but to face the music and his dream man. Unless …
What starts as a tragic accident turns into something far more bizarre. And when Felix’s backyard begins to look like a pet cemetery, he has no choice but to come clean. That is, if he can manage to find his sexy neighbor at all.

Felix Lane is still mourning the loss of his pet bird, Sunny. He’s also avoiding his neighbor, Kirk Shoo. There’s something about Kirk that makes Felix uncomfortable. Some of it is because of how intense and unnatural Kirk stare was in their embarrassing first meeting. A little of it might also be a bit of paranoia since he seems to run into Kirk everywhere he goes.
After a bad end of the week at work , Felix is returning home when he accidentally hits and kills Kirk’s cat. Bad luck seems to be following Felix because the very next day another incident with the same looking cat occurs. Then another accident…it seems no cat is safe from Felix.
I found this to be a bit cute and humorous and just a tad sad how Felix keeps accidentally murdering the same looking cat. I really felt sad for Felix since every incident had him crying and feeling remorseful because he’s an animal lover. It was a fun story and I found myself intrigued with why Felix was suddenly surrounded by cats. I think I would have liked to learned more about the cat shifters as a whole and how their pride worked. I enjoyed seeing Felix interact with Sofia and his show of possessiveness when others tried to encroach in his territory. I also like that there was an emphasis on how special Felix was and what that meant for the rest of his family.
I hope the author decides to revisit this universe and possibly write stories for Raphael (Rafael?, sorry can’t remember the spelling) and Mr. Diaz.

I always grab books by Ofelia Grand. They are unique, full of quirky characters, humor, a little mystery, sometimes magic. This is a quick and entertaining read with no angst. Only Ofelia could make me laugh at a character burying dead animals in his back yard. I loved Kirk’s perseverance and patience, and the way the cats pursued nerdy, innocuous Felix was oddly sexy. Felix was clueless, while the reader could pretty much see what was going on. And the notion of a suitor marking his territory like Felix’s boss made me cringe and laugh at the same time.

This fun book was such an enjoyable and entertaining read with a great storyline and wonderful characters that kept me in total awe as I turned each and every page until the very end! This book was such a page turner that I read it in one sitting!
This is a well written book with a sweet and fun story line. The author does a great job developing the story and pulling you in with the humor and mystery throughout. It’s an interesting story that kept me turning the pages. The characters are strong and the story moves quickly and smoothly.

A thoroughly entertaining read.
4.5 stars. Just a bit of twisted humor is needed, so this fit my tastes very well. Felix’s life is quiet, controlled and boring. He’s a bit skittish when it comes to Kirk his neighbor. Kirk just wants Felix to talk to him, to give him a chance. After burying his beloved bird, poor Felix has one dead cat after another to deal with. The pet cemetery in his backyard is growing quickly… sort of. I enjoyed the way the storyline seems to ramble until it all becomes quite clear that it’s really poor Kirk who’s had the hardest time of things.
Felix and Kirk were some seriously lovable characters even though poor Felix seems to have a black thumb when it comes to keeping animals alive. This was such a funny story and I don’t want to spoil the fun by saying to much but the nine stones in the title are not rocks.

Cute and humorous tale of an animal lover with a garden problem!
4.5 stars
I read this cute and funny story in one sitting. The humor is hooked to Felix, a dyed in the wool animal lover who gets involved in a revolving door of accidental animal casualties. The poor guy just can’t get a break, what with his work and domestic life bringing him down His attractive neighbor Kirk adds a lot of frustration and mystery but it does not take a rocket scientist to quickly spot Kirk’s fascination with Felix and his connection to the escalating carnage at Felix’s property. A really enjoyable read, simply but well told and with a promising outcome. Can’t say a “sunny” outcome because poor Sunny …
