“If three characters were good in Big Little Lies, nine are even better in Nine Perfect Strangers.” —Lisa Scottoline, The New York Times Book Review
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Little Lies
Could ten days at a health resort really change you forever? In Liane Moriarty’s latest page-turner, nine perfect strangers are about to find out…
Nine people gather at a remote health resort. Some are here to lose weight, some are here to get a reboot on life, some are here for reasons they can’t even admit to themselves. Amidst all of the luxury and pampering, the mindfulness and meditation, they know these ten days might involve some real work. But none of them could imagine just how challenging the next ten days are going to be.
Frances Welty, the formerly best-selling romantic novelist, arrives at Tranquillum House nursing a bad back, a broken heart, and an exquisitely painful paper cut. She’s immediately intrigued by her fellow guests. Most of them don’t look to be in need of a health resort at all. But the person that intrigues her most is the strange and charismatic owner/director of Tranquillum House. Could this person really have the answers Frances didn’t even know she was seeking? Should Frances put aside her doubts and immerse herself in everything Tranquillum House has to offer – or should she run while she still can?
It’s not long before every guest at Tranquillum House is asking exactly the same question.
Combining all of the hallmarks that have made her writing a go-to for anyone looking for wickedly smart, page-turning fiction that will make you laugh and gasp, Liane Moriarty’s Nine Perfect Strangers once again shows why she is a master of her craft.

I love Liane Moriarty’s novels. I was disappointed in this one. Not one of her best stories. The characters were just ok but the story had very little action.
I absolutely loved this book. One of my favorites this year.
I liked the unique setting of the high-end spa, the variety of characters and the twist at the end of the story. Moriarty never disappoints.
After reading almost all of her books I was disappointed in this one. It did not have the humor and I could not relate to the characters.
Another great book by Moriarty.
Love everything Moriarty writes and was not disappointed with this!
A great web of characters created fully and thoughtfully. The events that take place are suspenseful, but realistic, adding to the incredible story. Writing is clean and captivating. Several times I stopped to say, WOW that was a beautiful sentence. I recommend this book to everyone that wants an enrapturing reading experience.
Ridiculous
I loved how we get to know the characters so deeply.
A very entertaining story about personal transformation and the twisted path it takes and how you can’t really predict the form it takes, yet the outcome is positive, if you are willing to see it as such.
Liane Moriarty writes well! This is an entertaining read following nine characters that show up to a remote spa for a relaxing retreat. (Three of these characters are family, so not perfect strangers… unless Moriarty is playing around with the idea that their shared tragedy has turned them into perfect strangers.) She does a great job getting the reader to root for each character. Nice balance of humor and sadness.
Terrible book. Not worth my time reading it.
Haven’t read it, but didn’t Agatha Christie cover this in 10 little Indians?
This book was a great surprise to me, with its multiple points of view, characters that felt real and with whom I could empathize, and twists and turns I never expected. The characters range from a haunted teen to a self-absorbed but engaging young woman and her trying hard husband, to distraught parents and middle aged people craving more in life. Then there was the impossibly perfect but secretive host of the spa where all these characters meet. Each new point of view brought more and more depth and interest to the story. The ending was a little disappointing, but the journey to the end was fantastic.
I would have enjoyed it more if the MAIN character POV was anyone else. Was not a huge fan of her but that’s real life.
This is the story of nine people who arrive at a health resort. They all have different reasons for joining this 10 day retreat. Some want to escape their daily lives, some want to lose weight. But they have no idea what is in store for them on this “life changing journey” they were promised.
Half way through the retreat, things take a terrible turn, and the strangers are forced to work together to make it out.
This book was just okay. I do really like this author, but this book fell flat about 3/4 of the way through. Just unraveled. This story idea was a great one, but it wasn’t executed well.
I was disappointed in this book. I usually love her books but this one was just ok.
This is a book that you can form a love-hate relationship with. Some of the characters are predictable, some are a total surprise and one turns out to be so off the wall you will keep turning the page to see what outrageous thing she will do next. I enjoy the authors work. This book made me a little nuts but I kept reading at a fast and furious pace because I simply could not figure it out. Read it.
Slow start but a strong twisted finish.
Definitely a page turner!
