Book 1 of 3 in the Nine Minutes Trilogy.
On May 15, 1975, fifteen-year-old Ginny Lemon is abducted from a convenience store in Fort Lauderdale by a member of one of the most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs in South Florida.
From that moment on, her life is forever changed. She gets a new name, a new identity and a new life in the midst of the gang’s base on the edge of the Florida … the Florida Everglades—a frightening, rough and violent world much like the swamps themselves, where everyone has an alias and loyalty is tantamount to survival.
And at the center of it all is the gang’s leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender. She becomes his obsession and the one true love of his life.
So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows and forced to lean on the one person who provides attention, affection and care: her captor. Precocious and intelligent, but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity.
Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive—or get out at all? Part psychological thriller, part coming-of-age novel, filled with mystery, romance and unexpected turns, Nine Minutes takes readers into the world of one motorcycle gang and inside the heart of a young girl, whose abduction brought about its fall.
RECOMMENDED FOR READERS 18 AND OLDER DUE TO STRONG LANGUAGE, SEXUAL SITUATIONS AND VIOLENCE.

I was scared to read this book. I told Beth I was and she talked me down. Omg. This book. It was a punch to the gut and something I won’t get over. I loved Grizz and Kit. I loved Grunt and Moe. This book isn’t like a typical MC book. Thank goodness, because I despise them. This book is so much more. Thank you Beth for making something so much more.
This story is different and sometimes difficult to read. I loved everything about it. And all the characters. Definitely one of the best books I’ve read in years
I absolutely loved this story. I hadn’t realised until I’d started the book that I’ve actually read it before. It was roughly 5 years ago and I had completely forgotten everything that happens in this story, which was fabulous. It was like reading it for the first time again.
I honestly could not put my kindle down. I’ve sat and ignored the lists of things I needed to do today just so that I could finish the book. I’m usually not one for spoilers BUT what I loved was knowing the outcome of the story which was written in the prologue and then having the whole book build up to that moment in time…… brilliant!! I got so lost in learning Grizz and Kit’s story anyway, that I put what we were told to the back of my mind and I didn’t think about it at all…. until the end.
I totally understood Ginny. At one time I would have found her feelings for Grizz unthinkable, but her upbringing and the events that she goes through made it understandable that she would seek love and acceptance from others. I adore Grizz – I feel that I shouldn’t, but I can’t help that I do.
There are twists and turns throughout the story which I loved. Revelations I did not see coming at all!! This is a dark, gripping, intense, addictive, raw and captivating page-turner of a story. I highly recommend Nine Minutes to you to read. The title of the book and knowing the meaning behind it I feel will always send shivers up my spine.
Five fabulous must-read stars!!
This book was great from the first page to the last page. Ginny was going school and doing what she need to do so she could go to school because her mother and her step father. Grizzs was looking after Ginny and what happen to her then when she was 15 he had her pickup my one of his guys and bring her to the hotel where he lives. But now it is time to buy the book to find out what happens to the people in the book and I will be buy more from this author.
One of the best series I’ve read in a long time.
Without a doubt this trilogy, “Nine Minutes, Out of Time and a Gift of Time” are by far the absolute best books I have ever read. I quite literally have read several thousands of books. Most books I don’t remember a day after reading them. This trilogy I read over a year ago and it still has the same impact as when I put it down after reading the last page of the trilogy. Holy smokes this woman can write! She made me feel as if I were right there in the story, the feelings she was able to Invoke in the reader with her words were far stronger than any other I have ever read. This is an MC story and yes there is brutality and sex. I have read lots of MC books and do enjoy most of them…but this trilogy was and is the crowning jewel of any books I have read!!!
This is not your typical biker romance. I thought this was original. It did have violence and sex but the author did not stress these parts of the plot. I enjoyed this book.
I fell in love with the characters. It was so haunting. It was hard to put this series down.
All three books are must read in order, five stars for sure.
Absolutely loved this book and these characters!
In 1975 Guinevere Love Lemon was abducted by the notorious Satan’s Army motorcycle gang. As the story is told we learn that the leader of Satan’s Army, Grizz short for Grizzly, had been watching Ginny since she was a little girl. When she hit the age when teenagers start to date, Grizz decided it was best for her to be brought to live with him.
This is the first book I read by Beth Flynn and I am impressed. She was able to make me fall in love with a hardened murderer. I immediately started to read the next book in the series to see what she has in store for me.
There are scenes that relate violent actions of Grizz as told to the main character, Kit. There is also cursing which I think one should expect when reading about a motorcycle gang. I was surprised that there are no sex scenes. The closest this book comes to a sex scene is the night Kit loses her virginity. It could be considered dubcon, but the author does not write a graphic scene. The absence of sex scenes did not retract from the greatness of this book or the love story or stories told within its covers. If anything it made me appreciate falling in love with Grizz (and a little bit in love with Grunt) even more!
I highly recommend Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn!
This was the first book I’ve read by this Author, but I really enjoyed it. I liked the characters, even the bad ones, and I enjoyed thebrwosted tale we got from Nine Minutes. Kit has been through a lot in her short life and there’s no wonder she’s all over the place. I can’t wait to dive into book 2.
This book started me on a journey, one I hope to never reach the end of. It’s my top read of all books, ever.
4*
Grizz has been watching Ginny for years unbeknown to her.
When an opportunity arises she takes the offer unfortunately its not in her favour.
This is the first book I have read by this author and the story grabbed my attention I’ve already downloaded book 2 “Out of time”
This book and this trilogy is one of the best books I have ever read. This author knows how to write a book and do it well. This is the story of Grizz and Ginny and this book just blew me away, there was no putting this book down. So many twist and turns, these books deserves more than five stars. Absolutely loved them
Ok. I’ve been putting this review off because it makes me sad to write it. This was a book that was hyped up…A LOT…by multiple people. People that I trust because we tend to have the same taste in books.
But this just wasn’t it y’all. This wasn’t a complete fail for me, but it was far from a success too.
I had problems with a few things:
-The pacing was off. It felt very choppy and that kept pulling me out of the story. Which in turned made me take 4 days to read this 330ish page book.
-Grizz and Ginny’s relationship was missing chemistry in my opinion. I wanted more behind the scenes where they talked and got to know each other, and yes even when they were intimate but all of that was glossed over. So I didn’t understand their relationship, and I most definitely didn’t connect with them. I was more for Ginny and Tommy’s (aka Grunt) relationship more than her and Grizz. I’m all for age gaps, even big age gaps, but I wasn’t attracted to Grizz’s character at all. I just found him to be a violent dude with soft tendencies when he wanted kidnapped underage pu- well you know.
-We would get bits and pieces of background info on our characters but it wasn’t enough for me to really connect with anyone. I respected Ginny’s will to survive, but I feel like she put up zero fight from the very beginning. I did feel for her throughout the story because she went through some tough times.
I’m undecided if I will be continuing on in this series.
Overall rating 3 stars
Steaminess 1.5 stars
~~5 GAGA FOR GRIZZ STARS! ~~
I have no FREAKING words to describe this wild and crazy mind fk of a book!
Grizz was bad to the bone, unapologetically alpha, fiercely loyal…and eeeek…I pity the man or woman who dares to cross him or any member of his nefarious biker family. But beneath his menacing, cold-blooded criminal persona, the head honcho of the Satan’s MC gang has an Achilles heel. Ginny. From start to finish, Grizz’s tender-hearted, obsessive love for “Kit,” his captive turned teenage bride was beyond intoxicating! And tragically, hauntingly beautiful.
Beth Flynn, a new to me author, sure lived up to her legendary rep with this first installment in the NINE MINUTES trilogy! Her memoir approach to relaying this heart palpitating tale from Ginny’s pov was fascinating, and overall I found this spellbinding novel to be insanely addictive, achingly emotional, brutal and unflinchingly raw, gutwrenchingly romantic, and chock full of mind-blowing twists and turns!
The love story that unfolded was totally unconventional but utterly bewitching and after that SHOCKING ending, I can’t wait to dive into book two!
A MUST READ!
One of the best books I’ve ever read.
Without a doubt, a 5 star read for me. Any book that can suck me in so deep, make me feel so many emotions for the characters and leave me deep in thought about it for days meets the criteria for a 5 star read. I might not like the characters, might not like the story line but if it causes me to feel emotionally connected to both the anti-hero and the victim, then it’s a damn good book. I waited five days after finishing this book to write this review because I wanted to try to intelligently articulate my feelings about this book. To be honest, I don’t even know if I can do that today. But here goes….
Nine Minutes seemed like I was reading a combination of Ann Rule’s true crime story mixed with Madeline Sheehan’s Undeniable. I did some research and found that a young 17 year old girl was allegedly abducted by a motorcycle gang in FL in 1974. She was never found and her family experienced a horrible nightmare searching for her. Now that is terrible and tragic. But IMO this author took a similar scenario and gave us a story that didn’t break everyone’s heart, except for our sympathy about Kit’s exposure to the terrible things she saw and experienced. Her parents really didn’t care that she was gone and she had been basically neglected her whole life. She was a good girl and not a wild child. I do not want to minimize what her character experienced in the book but I did separate the real from the fiction.
Grizz is definitely an anti-hero. Some readers will never accept him as a good guy. Personally, at this point, I’m totally Team Grizz. Now that might change after I finish book 2 but right now, I believe he loved Kit 100% and made many drastic changes just for her. He could be a monster to everyone else but to her he showed a softer side. Her protection and happiness was his top priority. Yes, Kit may have suffered from Stockholm’s Syndrome but IMO she actually fell in love with him and still loved him 15 years later.
At first I thought Grunt was a sensitive, loving soul who was concerned about Kit’s well-being. But as the story progressed I found myself wondering if Grunt has his own agenda. I usually hate, hate a cliff-hanger but this book falls into a category of its own and I am so glad I read the book. It is quite possibly the best book I have read in 2014. Certainly no other book has stayed in mind, made me feel sad, mad and a little repulsed by some of the actions in the book.
I think this author’s writing style is totally unique and that she is not doing a spin-off of any other author’s work. If you are looking for a perfect hero and a love story with no angst, heartaches, or flawed characters, then this is not your book. If you can separate the real world from romantic fiction and accept that the deepest love sometimes comes from the deepest pain, then this could be the best book you have read in a long time.
“It took nine minutes. It sounds quick. Less than ten minutes. But for me, it was an eternity.”
I’d never attended an execution before. Well, at least not a legal one. My husband sat to my left. A reporter for Rolling Stone was on my right. Rolling Stone had an upcoming issue dedicated to celebrity bikers. They thought it would be interesting to include a real biker story in that issue. The story of a girl who’d been abducted by a motorcycle gang in 1975. That girl was me.
Well that was just part of the prologue and I was already baited…hook, line, and sinker. The story was beautifully written, with well developed characters, that really made you live in their moment. There were so many twists and turns by the end, that I’m still dealing with the whiplash! The only thing I can say is, I love you Grizz!!! #TEAMGRIZZ
I need book 2!!!
Wow. Great story. This book pulled me in from the first page. The prologue basically tells the ending. So many twists and Wow moments, especially at the end. I can hardly wait for the next book.
“Who was this person who could hack a man to pieces one day and save a kitten the next?”
I listened to the audiobook for a re-read and I think I loved it even more. Monique Makena is a new to me narrator who blew me away with how she brought this story to life.
This was my first book by Beth Flynn and most definitely will not be the last!
First thing I want to mention is that this book is really for readers 18+ as there is violence, strong language and sexual situations!
With that being said, I loved this book! Once I started I simply could not put it down. Could not flip the pages fast enough and I read into the wee hours of the morning.
This story is filled with every emotion and then some. The story between the big bad biker Grizz and sweet and quiet Kit was just jaw dropping. From the minute Grizz has Kit kidnapped my emotions went on a wild ride. So many thoughts and feelings will roll through you from hopeful to fearful, depressed to amazing, from sad to joyful, mean to lovable…and really everything in between.
This story brings out the best of both Grizz and Kit, slowly overtime. They are each other’s first love…but is that enough to save them both? Can’t wait to read book two to see when their story goes next. I can tell you that it’s probably going to be a bumpy a ride thanks to Ms. Flynn and her twisted ways!
