Harry Bosch has known the owner of Fortune Liquors, John Li, for years. When Li is murdered Bosch promises the family that he will find the killer. He enlists the help of a detective with the Asian Gang Unit. Little does Bosch know the case will lead him to Hong Kong and a life and death struggle with a vicious Triad.
It seems like a normal case. In fact, if it weren’t for the fact that the South LA bureau is too busy, Harry and his partner would never have taken on the case. The owner of a convenience store has been shot and killed. Because the owner is Asian, Bosch quickly calls in the Asian Crime Unit, and the trail seems to lead to the Chinese triad. …
All the Bosch books are great reads. This one is exceptional.
This book takes Harry Bosch to Hong Kong where he discovers a daughter he never knew he had.
As every great novel written by Connelly, it’s action packed with true to life /realistic scenarios.
I love Harry Bosch and can’t get enough of him. This is another excellent book. Ten out of ten.
You can never go wrong with a Harry Bosch book. Do yourself a favor and read them in order. While you don’t have to its more enjoyable if you do.
DIFFERENT KINDS OF DRAGONS
9 Dragons by Michael Connelly is another powerful installment (no. 14) in the Harry Bosch/Mickey Haller series. This one takes Harry on a wild ride pursuing a suspect from LA to Tokyo, even doing battle with some of Yakuza Dragons as well as some dragons of his own. Then Harry’s own daughter gets kidnapped and all …
Superior author
I have read everything he has written and he is one of the best authors. His books are page turners.
Love Michael Connelly, but this wasn’t his best. Harry Bosch’s daughter is a BRAT!!
9 Dragons is one of the most harrowing Bosch series books. Connelly takes Bosch out of his usual LA existence and sends him to Hong Kong to deal with the kidnapping of his daughter, Maddie, who lives in Hong Kong with her step-father and mother, Eleanor Wish. Bosch blames himself for the kidnapping as it was an investigation he was involved with …
It’s Harry Bosch
Another great Michael Connelly book!!!
Another great Harry Bosch story.
Good story – very tense – holds together very well.
One of my first brushes with Michael Connolly. It was enough to make me a regular subscriber. He did a fascinating job of developing characters and defining locales. It turns out much of what transpires in Nine Dragons lays a foundation for ensuing Harry Bosch story lines. Seems there is more action in Nine Dragons than in other Connolly …
Great book. One of my favorite series as well. This book changes Harry’s life drastically.
Another great one from Michael Connelly.
I met Harry Bosch in ‘The Black Echo’ in 1992. We’ve matured together. Gone through life’s changes together. Faced our personal and professional challenges together. He has become a dear friend. Michael Connelly created realistic criminal procedure stories without fear of giving Harry EQ along with IQ as he tackles each case, each mystery with …
