Hannah Prescott has an overzealous admirer whose advances have gone from challenging to terrifying. There is only one solution: Nikolai Ivanov. Nikolai, with his tendency towards violence and connections to the Russian mob, is exactly who Hannah needs to keep herself safe. Nikolai Ivanov has had no use for relationships. However, witnessing Hannah’s distress and fear pulls him at ways he doesn’t … he doesn’t want to admit. He agrees to Hannah’s charade, but is determined to keep it impersonal. At first. Against his will, all of his protective instincts are triggered and while he wants to create distance between himself and Hannah, he can’t keep his hands off of her.
Nikolai’s father creates more problems when Hannah and her younger sister are threatened in attempt to control Nikolai. Can Nikolai keep Hannah and her sister safe while admitting how important Hannah has become to him?

Really enjoyed this! Great characters and development. I cant wait to read more from this author!
I loved this story so much. I loved the characters, the suspense, chemistry, and overall storyline. Nicolai was this broody mafia prince who had a reputation at school and Hannah was this introvert nerd hiding away from the world and needed Nicolai’s help. I loved how she finally came out of her shell and found herself. There was so much happening and it was a little fast paced but I never felt like it took away from the characters or story. This will definitely be added to my reread list and I hope we get Drago’s, Ivan’s, or Jake’s story or all 3. I would definitely recommend it. (less)
Hannah Prescott has had a miserable high school experience thanks to one overzealous admirer. She hasn’t been able to have any of the high school memories that most kids have. She’s too busy looking over her shoulder and hiding away in her house.
Nikolai Ivanov is the hottest guy in school, he’s ruthless and intimidating. Who can blame him, considering his dad is the leader of the Bratva (Russian mob). Nikolai doesn’t do relationships or even give girls the time of day unless he is looking to get laid. Then he dismisses them once he’s done.
Hannah knows Nikolai is her only chance to be rid of her admirer once and for all. She’s hoping he will connect her with his family and she can get the mob to help her. She’s come up with a plan and now the only thing left to do is get the courage to approach Nikolai and convince him to help her. Little do either of them know this is just the beginning to a whole slew of problems.
This book has MAJOR potential. The plot, twists, characters, feelings, story development, suspense, etc. are all phenomenal! For this being a debut novel, wow! I’m very impressed with the writing style and I hope Kristin will continue to write, she has amazing talent. I think the only thing this book needs to make it a 5 star read is an editor. There are quite a few mistakes in the wording, just something that needs a bit of tweaking but honestly that’s the only reason this book didn’t get 5 stars from me.
Nikolai was exceptional, he was exactly what I wanted! So much depth to him and his feelings and persona. I loved the struggle he went through with himself and I enjoyed watching him grow and learn about himself. Him and Hannah’s relationship was exactly what I would expect with them being young and unsure of most things in life. I loved Hannah’s innocence and naivety, I loved watching her grow as well and I loved seeing her blossom! She was like a perfect flower that has finally gotten to see the sunshine after a very gruesome winter! Gah, she was… I don’t even have words. Just perfect. I liked the fact that she didn’t have friends and felt like she didn’t know how to respond to situations with Nikolai or what to make of it. I was actually thankful for that, so she didn’t have girls telling her to do this or do that. She grew even more because of that, she was on her own having to figure out the way to handle everything and interpret what it all meant.
The plot twist were so much more than I expected. I loved the suspense! I couldn’t quit reading this book. I just HAD TO KNOW! I had to know what happened, who was the “mysterious guy”. (Not gonna get any spoilers here )
I am ready for the second book in this series and I can’t wait to see where the characters lives take them next!
