Enemies From Birth… I…
How can I make her mine once and for all?
“Nikolai” is a mysterious and sexy stand-alone romance, complete with HEA and no cliffhangers.
The Lark Notes:
A Mafia Romeo and Princess Juliet story, what more could you ask for? – Sophiemore
A captivating page turner that’s fast paced with plenty of action and well written! You’ll love reading about the characters and getting to know them throughout the story. Even if you haven’t read the previous books in the series you can still enjoy the story line and not be lost.

Does the mistake of the past mean loosing their future?
by sewsummore
Nadia lost her mother and several of her uncles in a mafia war, hurting from the loss of a mother she rarely saw and never really knew, she goes to Moscow to try make truth of the mother she knew and the young girl that had been forced into a bratva marriage. There she meets Nikolai Markov, a member of a bratva family that had been enemies of her family since her grandfather’s time. They fell in love but old hurts almost separate them forever, revenge, jealousy and old secrets are exposed, but one truth remained, their love for each other. This story made me believe that love trumps hate, Nikolai knew he had fallen for Nadia almost from the start of their relationship and because he was afraid to loose her he kept the truth of their relationship from her it was a mistake he would never make again. Nadia’s mother and Nikolai’s father lost their chance on love because of a stupid mistake, Nadia was determined not to make the same mistake.

So I figured out that I walked smack dab into the middle of a series. This is book four in the Colors of Crime series. I was able to successfully read this book and enjoy it even though I have not read the previous books in the series. This is Nadia and Nikolai’s story. Nadia is in search of solving a mystery in her mother’s journal and travels to Moscow. Nikolai is the heir to the Markov empire but needs a wife. He wants Nadia but finds out she is the mafia princess to their long time feuding families. Does Nikolai’s father, Zavier destroy their relationship before it can begin? Can this marriage begin to settle the unrest between the two families? Can this even be a HEA? A great story, I was sucked in and invested in the book as I turned the pages to read more and more of Nadia and Nikolai. Back to the beginning of the series for me. Enjoy!

A great experience. I have read two other books from this author and this one didn’t disappoint either. This is a book of very high standards, not the ‘wanna-be’ writer style but one that can easily be called modern literature. All the characters were developed and described so well, they were practically leaping off the pages. The storyline was novel and imaginative. I nearly didn’t sign up for it because I am not a Russian Mafia topic devotee. Before this book, I hardly knew the word Bratva. I am nevertheless so happy I did because I enjoyed every page. The author had managed to evoke my imagination so much, that I could almost see this book in colour. The way that the writer succeeded to humanise and show a different side to the lives of the people in the Bratva organisation, is, in itself, remarkable. The kind of entitlement and luxury that these people take for granted was thought-provoking, as was the absolute power with its infinite possibilities. Corrupting? Yes, most certainly, but growing up in such an organisation as a child brings a different perspective. The storyline had a kind of personal touch with detailed analyses of emotions. There are many beautiful moments in the book when Nadia is attempting to get re-acquainted with her mother through her diary written at the cusp of adulthood. The explosive development of an intense attraction that goes way beyond the physical between Nadia and Nikolai is brilliantly documented with a kind of adult approach that at times even gives us a glimpse of the author’s wit. I couldn’t find a typo, a misspelled word or the use of wrong grammar anywhere. You are in for a treat. When you think there is no way that a favourable resolution could be found to finish on a high note, you’d be wrong. The author had found a way to weave this story in a totally believable, plausible way to explain the deception that threatened to tear them apart, leading the story to a HEA. I would most certainly recommend this book.

4 1/2 Stars
Nadia was trapped in a loveless relationship but complacent when Nikolai spotted her at his family’s lavish party. Her desire to connect with her mother’s past was spurred on by finding her journal/diary after her death.
This enemies to lovers, Romeo/Juliet, star crossed lovers theme had a bit of a twist as Nikolai was commanded by his father to seduce Nadia to ruin her relationship with her fiancé Maxim.
I liked the way the journal revealed her mother’s intense love for the mysterious Ivan as it built up an exciting yet suspenseful plot between Nadia and Nikolai’s past connections and their family’s hateful feud.
Nikolai was as trapped by his fathers demands as Nadia was to her father and her ex Maxim. I liked the way the author built up the tension as Nadia freely fell for Nikolai as his angst and guilt increased.
Well written with just enough drama to keep the storyline interesting.

This is my first read by Sophie and I was completely taken by it. Sophie pulls you into Nadia’s world, showing you how lost this mafia princess was and how she found herself along with truths that will surprise you. I loved Nadia and Nikolai’s personalities- both young with good heads on their shoulders and you get to read how they overcome certain things and fall in love. In my opinion, this is a lighter mafia romance read. There is very little violence and just a little bit of Dom/sub elements – I, honestly, consider this a safe read with a realistic happily ever after. I look forward to reading more of Sophie’s works, thanks to this read

A great love story!
What a great love story about 2 people finding love even while the past meant to keep them apart. After Nadia’s mother funeral, she discovers her mother’s diary and a woman she never knew. Feeling the need to better understand her mother, she heads to Russia with her fiancé where she meets Nikolai of a rival Bratva. While Nadia’s fiancé bumbles their relationship, Nikolai and Nadia discover feelings for one another. But will their parents’ past hinder their future? You have to read to find out and won’t want to put the book down until you reach the last page.
This is an intriguing somewhat dark mafia romance that has a slow-burn love story to it & I absolutely enjoyed reading it. The well-paced plot is well-written & keeps the reader’s attention with some unexpected surprises. The main characters are well-developed although some of them are realistically emotional flawed & exhibit devious intentions in order to get their goals while another character tries to adjust in a new & unfamiliar world filled with secrets.
There is: a young woman (Nadia) travels to Moscow to discover the truth about a mystery in her mother’s journal but does not realize the consequences of her actions until a Bratva boss (Nikolai) decides to claim her so that there will be an end to the feuding between two families that have been enemies for a decades, her detestable fiancé (Maxim), Nikolai’s manipulative father (Zavier), intrigue, drama, suspense, twists & turns, Bratva mafia, feuds, rivalry, action, a journal, mystery, secrets, mystery, deceit, betrayal, enemies, heartache, confrontations, suspicions, attractions, devious plans, obsession, manipulations, guilt, regrets, vulnerability, eavesdropping, discovery, realization, love, mild kink, steamy scenes, contentment & a well-deserved happy conclusion.

Engaging the drama, intrigue, turmoil, deceit, secrets aplenty and soaring suspense while tension spirals, wielding this little fella together flawlessly. Bridging the trials and tribulations, along with a slew of unforseen twists and crushing turns, tempting our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. Illustrating bold and strong, well rounded scenario’s, ramping up the adrenaline and gusto with such tenacity and precision, blasting this little fella to life spectacularly. The attraction and chemistry is intense and sizzling, spotlighting the undeniable attraction and palpable connection, binding them together perfectly. The characters are authentic and genuine with qualities and traits that blend into unbelievable personalities. When Nadia’s mother died, and she and her fiance travel to Russia to explore her mother’s past. There she meets a family enemy, Nikolai. Their families have been rivals for years. Nadia has no idea why, but in Bratva families, you have to beware of your enemies. She’s deeply attracted to Nikolai, but she doesn’t realize Nikolai has a game plan. This was a good Mafia romance story.

I’ve read all the books in this series so far and this one I must say is a bit different, but not in a bad way. It’s a standalone as were the others, but I think reading them in order is more enjoyable. I wouldn’t necessarily say this was a dark mafia romance though — more interesting and intriguing, than dark. I felt that it may have moved a little slow at times, but overall it was an enjoyable read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for Booksprout.
After reading Violet and couldn’t wait to read Nadia’s story in Crimson. Nadia just lost her mom and other family members. She went to her relatives in Moscow to reflect and to understand her mother who she wasn’t close to. When she gets there she encounters ‘Nikolai. All bets are off once these two get to know each other. What started off with lies ended up in a world-wind romance. Their story and mixed in with her mom’s story when she was young and in love made it a great read. I didn’t care for the rush ending though…

This book is number 4 in the Colors of Crime and each of the books in this series can be read as a standalone. The tag line for this book is seduce and enemy to control an empire. This book follows the relationship of Nadia who is a mafia princess and Nikolai who is the heir to the rival Markov empire. Nadia heads to Moscow to solve an old mystery regarding an entry in her mothers journal. Nikolai on the other hand needs to find a wife to secure his family’s fortune. The minute that Nikolai and Nadia meet it is instant fireworks. Can Nadia and Nikolai trust each other after everything that has happened between them and she finds the real reason on why he wanted to marry her. This is a story of twisted love, loss and betrayal. This was a such a good and I would recommend reading the other book in this series.

I love these books and I’m so glad Nadia got the man she deserved! We met Nadia in Violet and I loved this sassy Bratva Princess. Nikolai is her perfect man. They may have started their affair rather dubiously, but the chemistry between these two was intense. Great storyline, great pacing, just an overall great read. This series is a fantastic read and I can’t wit for Emerald, my favorite color and stone.
I received an ARC from Booksprout and this is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The mystery woven in with the romance was done well and certainly had me intrigued. It also included a nice bit of spice so it checked the boxes for the mafia romance minus the blood and suspense. If you are looking for violence with your romance, this book doesn’t have it, though that could be a selling point for the squeamish, right? Overall, well written, and i would read books by this author again.

Nikolai was a businessman in Russia who did legal business and sometimes had to black market business dealing with guns. Nikolai was not a bad person and to Nadia he was the most gorgeous man she had ever saw, especially surprising, since he was Russian. Nadia went to Russia after her mother died because she was trying to understand her and she had found a journal in the things that her mother had left at her Aunt Galina’s house. She really didn’t think she wanted any of her mother’s things but this journal ended being the very consequential to her getting to knowing who her mother, Samara was and not just the lawyer she had become after she had married Petya Turgenev. Nadia was engaged to Maxim Oleksei the handsome playboy, heir to the Oleksei vineyards and first born son of the Bratva. It was an arranged marriage between two Bravta families, though her and Maxim got along well. He looked okay but that was the problem he was all about looks. He wanted her to be his slim kitten that meant she didn’t eat much when they were out because she had to watch her weight and he made sure she did. But he was a party boy, not really a boy a man, but he liked to party and that meant drinks and drugs. She decided she had to go to Russian so he decided he didn’t want her to go with out him because he just didn’t want her to be away from him too long. She thought she loved Maxim before her mother died but she was thrown into a state of confusion when her mother was killed by people who were suppose to be close to her. They killed her mother and Viloet’s father, her uncle and then most of them that staged the coupe were killed, that means her other uncle Roman’s and Violet’s uncle was killed to. So off her and Maxim goes to Russia in his father’s private jet. He goes to his father’s family home and she goes to her grandfather and aunt’s house. Her family came from wealth but if went by how their home looked inside and out you wondered happened to her grandfather Stanislav Lebedev who had come from wealth but now with dementia having set in about 10 years ago, they called him crazy. Anyways he had eventually become bed ridden with his other daughter Raschel to watch over him. Nadia probably felt like he didn’t even realize that his daughter Samara was dead. Nadia goes to a party with Maxim and while there, Maxim goes off to do his thing drinking and drugs. She goes off checking out the different rooms and paintings and other things hanging on the wall. While she is there she sees an egg that catches her eye and checks it out because it is like the two eggs she now had from her mother and she was so enthralled with it that she didn’t hear Nikolai come into the room. His father Zavier had told him to woo her and to make her his fiance. He does do that but in the process of wooing Nadia she learns a lot about him and his family and in turn she learns a lot more about her mother as she translates her mother’s diary. They do grow close and they get their happily ever after but she and him both had to go through a lot of growing pains to get their. I liked this story as much as I liked Violet’s and Anton’s story. The Colors of Crime series keep getting better. It is a entertaining Good Read.

Love story, yes. Mafia, meh.
The book is difficult to review without at least a little spoiler glimpse…
The book is well written with no editing or continuity issues. However, the pace of the story was slow and at times I had to put the book to one side and read something else before continuing. This was due to the average love story between the H and h. I did not feel the characters were developing throughout the story. The heat level between the two were a simmer at most. What made the book interesting was the mystery in the h’s mother’s journal. The journal became an anchor for the story and was the only bit that kept me interested enough to finish the book. There was a bit of a Romeo and Juliet vibe to the whole story – even between the generations. The mafia connection was flimsy at best and only a hook for the “our families hate each other trope”. It served no other purpose in the story and I felt this was thus superfluous to the story. It also meant my expectations of a somewhat darker story was definitely not met.

Loved this dark twisted tale.
OMG, my mind is blown!!! This is an intriguing, twisted mafia tale of love, loss and betrayal. The characters are wonderful and I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it. After Nadia’s mother dies she finds a journal of her mother’s from when she was still living in Moscow. Nadia decides to go to Moscow to try to solve the mystery of her mother’s words in the journal. She meets Nikolai Markov, their families have been enemies for over two hundred years, but she can’t help the pull she feels towards him. Nikolai is in need of a wife, but not just any wife, he needs Nadia to become his and he will do whatever it takes to make that happen. Even if it means getting rid of her fiancé and lying to her from the very start of their relationship. This is a dark, twisted tale that has an ending I did not see coming. Great read and I highly recommend it!
