The events on Halloween taught me a lesson—I’m not human, and the supernatural world lives by different rules. Now I’m back at the academy determined to work hard, develop my magic skills, and save lives.I met my aunt and she showed me that life as a future-sighted witch has greater challenges than I realised. Especially for me, because we’ve discovered I’ve more abilities than anybody expected.… expected.
The new guys in my life face problems too. Jamie is using dangerous magic to protect himself. Ash is struggling to control how dangerous he is to others. And Andrei’s life is under threat as a result of Halloween. Can Tobias help or will he report us for breaking rules?
The hunters who survived the attack are looking for revenge, and the Dominion are moving closer to the academy. Add in the pressures of working with Katherine and Amelia on the Winter Ball committee, and I’ll be lucky to reach the end of term in one piece.
Term Two is the second in this upper YA/NA series of magic academy books. The main characters are eighteen and older, and this is a slow burn RH.
Please Note: As the series is set at a school in England, the books are written in British English.

Term One left me wanting to know what happens next. Term Two did not disappoint! I love that though Maeve is struggling with her new found life, she has friends who are there to support her no matter what. I also love the fact that Andrei, who doesn’t get close to many, is the main one looking out for her at times and I am interested to see how their relationship continues along with her relationships with Ash and Jamie. Things are beginning to get interesting and I really do not trust Tobias and his involvement in all of this. The shocker at the ending left me immediately wanting Term Three and to know what the outcome of that will be. This book grabbed me from the first words and didn’t let me go until I had finished. I am definitely looking forward to the next one.
This book was so fun! The slow burn romance, the drama, the adventures, the personal growth… it all adds up to one fantastic read! Do yourself a favor and read Term 1 then this!
Audiobook Review:
I was happy to jump back into this story and continue on with Maeve, a woman who thought she was human who was suddenly thrown into this world where dragons, and vampires and witches are real, and she learns that she just so happens to be one. There was really good progression of the overall story line as well as the relationships between Maeve and her men. I liked the twists and turns that kept the story flowing and kept things interesting. And am intrigued by the fact that I’m not completely sure who to trust. That surprise at the end I didn’t really see coming, even though in hindsight I probably should have. I loved that though, that I was surprised. And it has me excited for the next book.
The narration was really good again. Both narrators did a good job with multiple characters and just overall had good tones to listen to. I certainly won’t have in issue if these two continue with the series and I’m now quite comfortable with these voices for these characters.

The characters are fighting a big battle. It’s so good that despite being new to the academy she has found some great, dependable friends. Some questions get answered and somethings keep getting weirder. I like the second sight that she has and how powerful she is turning out to be. Once again, I can hardly wait until the next book!

Wow A fantastic Audiobook. If your a lover of the Supernatural this is a fantastic listen. I was pulled in right from the first until the last of this listen. The Author has brought out a fantastic read of the academy world. This had me on the edge all the time while listening. The Narrators have done an astounding job on this. And the Author has created such epic scenes that you feel like your right there in person. This is a definite must listen. Its more than a 5 star.

This book is so much better than the first on. The Maeve character has grown by leaps and bounds! I really like this story, I find all the plot twists very interesting. These teachers have so many secrets, it’s like peeling a segment from an orange because these secrets are not little and there are many. I’m glad I didn’t stop at book 1 because now I’m hooked. This is highly entertaining and super exciting to learn what other secrets these people at the Nightworld Academy hold. I’m off to get book 3….
Nightworld Academy: Term Two by LJ Swallow is a new upper YA/NA series of magic academy books that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Colton and Steve Campbell.
This is the second book of LJ’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. The story does end on a cliffhanger so I can’t wait for Nightworld Academy: Term Three to be released on audible.
Sarah and Steve did an amazing job on the narration. They really made the story come to life with their accents and tones for each character.

It’s so nice to have a second book in a series and just pick up with knowing who is who due to the excellent narration of Sarah L Colton and Steve Campbell. They did a great job.
Noooooo you can’t leave it like that!!! I love that this picks up right where the last book ended. I fell straight back into the story, maybe even more so than the first book. The characters are growing and changing and I spent a lot of time trying to work out the motives behind some of them (I’m looking at you Tobias!!!). I enjoyed learning more about their world along with them and I cannot wait for the next book…
I devoured Term 2 of LJ’s Nightworld Academy! I was trying to sneak in listens whenever I could this week haha. I have to say the narration was improved (not that it was bad before) and the story sucked me in more so I had to give it 4.5-5 starts overall.
For the narration, I thought Sarah and Steve continued their great job and I really liked how they did Andrei, Maeve, and Ash. I thought the feelings they exuded were spot on and amazing and really got me into the story much faster and more wholeheartedly. I thought the feelings and narration of Tobias was intriguing, especially when Maeve was in his head. I think the only hangup I had was that When Steve did Tobias, it was a super low manly voice, but when Sarah did it, it was more snobbery/old sounding. I know she can’t get low, that wasn’t the problem. It just sounded like he was more elitist with Sarah’s inflections compared to Steve’s gruff sounding depiction. Besides that, it was great.
So about the story….I really am liking where LJ is going with this series and already preordered Term 3 that releases in almost a week. I kinda knew the ending was going to happen, so that wasn’t a shock. I was just hoping the person wasn’t dead and wasn’t someone’s parent. I have to say I am still not liking Maeve 100%. I think he damsel moments in the fights bothered me the most. I mean, she comes off as a strong young adult but then in those situations all she does is scream and whine and panic. I mean, people could have died while that happened, but when she sees the little kid almost die she runs in and saves the day. It just didn’t really fit for me 100%. I really love Ash and Andrei. I want them in my harem already haha. I am on the fence with Tobias, will have to see how things change after the reveals at the end of Term 2. I am kinda hurt by those who don’t like a certain creature, without knowing the person. Like I cant wait for Sofia to be taken down a peg, not gonna lie haha. I loved how Ash and Maeve’s relationship unfolds and totally want to slap Jamie upside his head. LJ has done a good job making me care about these characters; I am dying to know what happens next.
Still recommend this series, it keeps getting better and better with each book in the series

Love this series. Can’t wait for Term 3!
What just happened? I am loving this series. Maeve is learning more about herself and her powers. She is also growing closer to her new friends at the academy. We have the beginnings of some complicated relationships that I want to know more about and what is going to happen next with them. Learn more about Tobias and Andrei, but there’s so much more there to uncover. And Ravenhold….. what is the connection between that place, the Academy and the Dominion? So many questions that I need answers to. I can’t wait until the next book comes out.
This was a perfect second installment to this series. It was the perfect balance of answering some questions while still leaving enough mystery to have me begging for more. I can’t wait for Term Three!
Darkness & Lies, & That’s Just From A Professor!! 3.5 Stars
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
This is an emotionally confusing book for Maeve & co. They’re having to come to terms with what happened at Halloween as well as facing some new challenges individually. A couple of the group members start to doubt the honesty & trustworthiness of one of their Professors, but aren’t able to speak about it for one reason or another!! Truth, lies, new powers, forbidden spells, betrayals & shocks are all in store in Term Two!
The ‘slow burn reverse harem’ aspects of this book are barely a smolder – A kiss, right at the end – ONE!! I’ve read more steam in a younger based slow burn YA, Its disappointing after 2 books. I can connect with each character individually well but when in a group the writing falls flat for me. Thankfully the storyline is intriguing enough to keep me coming back – for now!!

OOO! This is getting crazier. So much is going on. Maeve and her little group with the teacher. It keeps getting better and better. I hope that the next book comes out faster. Semester two is not over and more is to happen soon. Love it. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Maeve is still trying to figure out her new world and how to control her powers. While she finally gets to meet her future sighted aunt, the meeting leaves her with more questions than answers.
Jamie is still worrying that he’s going to die and uses forbidden magic to protect himself. Ash is trying not to shift before his nineteenth birthday, but his anger triggers his shifter abilities and it’s hard to keep his anger under control when hunters are after Maeve. Maeve is still unsure about Andrei’s real intentions and her vision just confuses her even more. And let’s not forget about Tobias, her professor. There’s still the fear that he will turn them in for the adventure on Halloween and he’s hiding a lot of secrets, secrets Maeve wants to learn.
With all of the mystery, intrigue, and potential love interests, Maeve and her friends still have school and a winter ball held by the mean girl, who is also a very powerful vampire.
Looking forward to Term 3!
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
Whew! What a ride! From beginning to end Term Two had me completely consumed. More secrets are revealed, all the twists and turns, more lies && more chemistry with all the slow burn as this group continues to form their bond. Maeve is continuing to accept her new normal, her gifts are growing && with every chapter another layer of what’s to come was revealed (kind of). There are so many aspects to this story that I love..navigating this otherworldly book universe…attempting to follow all the breadcrumbs to find out what will happen next. Seriously, I am in love with the Nightworld Academy & I cannot wait to see where L.J. Swallow takes us next in Term Three.
I really love this Academy series. L.J has a way of creating the most wonderful characters and has the amazing ability to draw you in to loving them with out realising she is doing it. The world/scenery building is also great but the storey – well what can I say? The twists and turns will give you whiplash, Its Addictive, Entrancing, and an easy way to lose a couple of hours because you really want to know what happens next and then the ending hits you at which point you kinda go WTF, growl at an imaginary L.J. Swallow and then hit pre-order on term 3 if you havent already done so. The only negative is that the slow burn is so slow burn is killing me – so yes i need term 3 please and i need the heat to rise rapidly – lots of steam please!!!!.
