“Coraline meets Monsters, Inc. in this delightfully entertaining offering from actor [Jason] Segel and co-author [Kirsten] Miller.”—Publishers WeeklyThe hilariously frightening, middle-grade novel Nightmares! is a Texas Bluebonnet nominee and the first book in a trilogy about a boy named Charlie and a group of kids who must face their fears to save their town. Sleeping has never been so scary. … must face their fears to save their town.
Sleeping has never been so scary. And now waking up is even worse!
Charlie Laird has several problems.
1. His dad married a woman he is sure moonlights as a witch.
2. He had to move into her purple mansion, which is NOT a place you want to find yourself after dark.
3.He can’t remember the last time sleeping wasn’t a nightmarish prospect. Like even a nap.
What Charlie doesn’t know is that his problems are about to get a whole lot more real. Nightmares can ruin a good night’s sleep, but when they start slipping out of your dreams and into the waking world—that’s a line that should never be crossed.
And when your worst nightmares start to come true . . . well, that’s something only Charlie can face. And he’s going to need all the help he can get, or it might just be lights-out for Charlie Laird. For good.
Praise for Nightmares!

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a great story, that sucked me into the world of Nightmares. The imagination does amazing things when reading any stories, but this one had me shutting down the real world.
I was gifted this book for the LiterALLy BOOKiSh (on Facebook) Blind-date-with a book swap. The criteria of the swap was for the sender to choose one of THEIR favorite books, not to choose from the recipient’s wishlist.
Although I would have most likely not chosen this book myself (as it’s middle grade), I’m glad my match chose it because it’s …
I don’t really remember what happened in the book…but I do remember that I loved it sooooo much. I had all three of the books, and I forced my friends to read them.
Really for grades 3-6 and not my favorite.
I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did, as I am well outside the intended target audience for this book. I it with the intention of giving it to my niece, but ultimately decided to give it a read first, as she isn’t really all that into creepy/scary books, too much, especially if they are really scary, to my surprise I loved it way more …
Nightmares is something everyone has had. Whether you are young or old, you once had a nightmare that you just couldn’t shake off. Sometimes it’s just the one nightmare, sometimes it’s a trilogy. Sometimes, however, it stays with you for days, weeks, even months. You are either falling into a dark abyss; a clown is chasing you; failing a test that …
