I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It had a certain Lovecraftian feel that I haven’t seen in a while. This is a gothic story that would be perfectly at home next to Lovecraft or Poe or even Stoker. The story contains layer on layer of suspense and horror. Nicely written, Mr. Clegg!
I recommend this without reservation.
Will read another Clegg book. Douglas Clegg has a intense, descriptive style that skillfully moves between situation with impact. You inviolve yourself with his story and think you have it figured out, but the end is surprising. An entertaining read.
This book was a pretty great haunted house story. I like Douglas Clegg’s novels.
A house called Nightmare, a wealthy family’s secrets and disturbing childhood memories, all come together in tale told by a century old man.
This is a gothic horror story with paranormal aspects that highlights human frailties. It draws you in and you want to read it in one sitting. The characters are well developed and engaging. The narrative …
i liked this book very entertaining
I thought this story was a great read
It was ok
I was impressed with this book although it started a little slow. But once it got going it was a very good book. Glad to see its a series do I can read more about the Nightmare House.
While reading this book, I found it hard to get to sleep at night wondering what was going to happen next. Loved every chilling chapter. More please!
Kind of archaic writing style, but a great twist in the end.
With praise from Dean Koontz, Peter Straub and Bentley Little, you can be sure this is going to be a good book. (I haven’t read any Little yet, but I hear he’s a fairly decent wordsmith in his own right.) Douglas Clegg has written a fantastic haunted house tale with Nightmare House. It’s classified as “gothic horror”, and the tone of the novel is …
As as always, Cleggis scarier than hell.
Very well done! One of best ghost stories I have read in quite an age.
Once I started reading I couldn’t stop until I finished the book! Now to read more of his work.
I enjoyed this book very much.
another good story from Clegg
Great story line. Real interesting characters. Unpredictable player in this book. Loved it.
A bit convoluted & hard to follow, but still entertainment
Douglas Clegg is a dependable writer, none of his books have blown me away but all have been a good read that will keep you turning pages.
A slow read.
