Nightingale is book 24 in the Reed Security Series, and it is recommended that they are read in order.Florrie I don’t do well with emotions and yucky love stuff. I do the best I can, but at the end of the day, I’m better at showing someone I love them by fighting for them. That’s the way I’ve always been and how I’ll always be. And I have one helluva fight ahead of me. I’ll do anything for the … ahead of me. I’ll do anything for the people I love, but what I didn’t expect was to be fighting the one person I thought would always be on my side. I don’t know if I can ever forgive him for this or if we can ever move forward. Some betrayals are just unforgivable.
Alec
Life is going great. I have the woman I love by my side and a kid that is quickly becoming a huge part of my life. What can go wrong? Then it happens. One phone call changes my world in such a profound way that I’m not sure anything will ever be the same again. I risk losing it all with my decisions, but I have to stand up for what I believe is right. I just hope that when the dust settles, I still have someone on my side.
“What do you have for me?” I asked Rob as I stormed into the IT room.
“You know, just once it would be nice if someone said hello first. Ya know, Hey, Rob. How’s it going? Are you having a good day? Want some coffee?”
“You don’t drink coffee.”
“Still, it would be nice if someone asked,” he grumbled, spinning around in his chair to stare at his computer screen. Rob was just like the guys. He had the same build and most of the same skills, but he was a computer geek at heart, which meant that he would always be on this side of the action.
I rolled my eyes and cleared my throat. “Rob, how’s it going? Want some coffee?”
“You forgot to ask if I was having a good day,” he said as his fingers flew over the keyboard.
“Fine,” I bit out. “Are you having a good day?”
He shrugged. “Eh. It’s okay. My sciatica is flaring up again.”
“You don’t have sciatica.”
He spun around and glared at me. “I could have sciatica. How the heck would you know? This is the first time that you’ve asked me how I was doing.”
“I know because I pay attention when you talk, and you’ve never once mentioned sciatica to anyone.”
“Maybe I didn’t want anyone to know about my condition.”
“Right, because men are so good at keeping their pain a secret.”
“Hey, I’m not like those baboons you work with. I’m a real man that has feelings and shit.”
“Feelings and shit, is that right?”
“Yeah.”
“Alright, so where is this sciatica that you’re talking about?”
“In…my sciatic nerve,” he said, obviously not really knowing what sciatica was.
“Well, I sure as hell hope it’s not in your optic nerve, or we’d all be screwed.”
He huffed out a laugh and shook his head. “My optic nerve. Right. Anyway, aside from that, I’m good today. And yes, I would like something to drink. I’ll take an Earl Grey, please, with milk and two lumps of sugar.”

At the very beginning of the book, Giulia Lagomarsino let it be known each reader would need to decide if they were on one side or the other. In my mind, I thought, “Well, don’t we do that anyway?” And then I read “Nightingale”. There is no way to stay impartial! Ms. Lagomarsino has pulled out all the stops in this storyline and we have pure unadulterated emotion that follows all the twists and turns within the secrets, intrigue, and angst. Of course, we still get all the nosey members of Reed Security to have to input their two cents worth along with the comedy of their personalities. This was such a great read to me and I’m sorry to see it coming to an end. Perhaps if enough of us wish hard enough for a spinoff with the next generation so we can see where it goes from there. I’m especially interested to see where the best friends in this book go. Congratulations Giuliana on a job well done.
Holy Cow!! I won’t say that both of them made me angry, but boy Nightingale sure did.
Florrie is a team member of Reed Security. She is tough, strong, and independent. She’s also selfish, bullheaded, and single minded, in my opinion. She and her teammate Alec hid their relationship for three years before they made it official and let the rest of Reed Security know that they were a couple. Of course, Craig, their other team member figured it out sooner than the rest, by pure coincidence.
Alec is the lead for Team 5 of Reed Security. He makes a lot of decisions for the team when they are in the field. The only problem is that he has a hard time shutting that off when they are home and he doesn’t discuss things with Florrie and Craig, which causes a lot of problems. He wants to protect Florrie and she is so independent that she has a hard time letting him take care of her.
Reid is a young boy that left a bad situation at his stepfather’s house. He ended up on the streets and ran into Florrie and Alec one night and instead of turning him over to the authorities, they took him in and cared for him. He’s a young teen and has found a home where he feels safe and loved. When his temporary custody comes into jeopardy it causes all kinds of issues with Reed Security.
These two are both strong willed and pig headed, but Florrie really made me angry through this book. She couldn’t see anything besides her own thoughts and feelings. She was determined to do what was needed, but she didn’t stop to think of the repercussions. I enjoyed the story, the tensions, the characters, the comedic relief, and the overall story of this book. While I was angry a lot with Florrie, I could understand her devastation, but not her actions and treatment of Alec. I love the character in this series, and I devour these books, but this one had me wanting to throat punch Florrie most of the time. Her actions and words were hurtful and destructive. I felt that Alec deserved better than what she was giving him. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more of the Reed Security Series. I would love to see stories of the kids as they grow up, especially and Reid and Caitlyn. If you like stories with Alpha males, strong women, security details, and crazy families, you will love this series, and you should one-click it right away.
Rating:
Classic Reed Security with drama, humor and terrific people!
This book was another great Reed Security story. I really enjoyed the drama and the the romance. This book was about Alec and Florrie who have been on the same Reed Security team for a while. There was a previous book about their early relationship, Alec (Reed Security, #17). I haven’t yet read that book but can’t wait to find out more. I plan on reading all the books I missed since I started at book 21. These two have quite the steamy relationship.
Alec has asked Florrie to marry him and she agreed. Florrie (her mother named her after Florence Nightengale), can’t have children. However, Alec and Florrie have had temporary custody of Reid who is fourteen since they found him near death eight months ago. They are moving toward adoption and both of them love Reid like he is their own child. Reid has been through a lot since his Mother married an abusive Senator and his step-father used to throw him in the basement for days on end.
Reid ran when he overheard his stepfather say he was planning on killing Reid. The Senator thought that having a murdered stepson would gain him sympathy and voter support. Reid is now doing much better and they have been living in the panic room at Reid security until their house is ready. It is called a panic room but basically it is a panic apartment and some of the other Reid Security agents and their families have lived there at one time or another.
Reid’s Aunt and Uncle from Utah find him and contact social services to gain custody. This ends up causing a rift between Florrie and Alec when they decide to handle the custody battle in different ways and don’t agree with each other. The start of the book says you will end up being on one side, Florrie’s or Alec’s and that held true. Though I was on Team Alec, I could see Florrie’s point of view and in some of the things I thought she was right. Though I did think that either way, it would have ended up the same or similar, just quicker.
I won’t go into how they disagreed and what happened. However, I really liked this book. I thought Reid’s story was compelling and his struggle to catch up to other kids his age was pretty great. I know that the next book is going to be the last Reid Security book but I would like to see more about Reid when he grows up. Caitlin, Cap’s 10 year old daughter (going on 30) was Reid’s best friend in this book and I can see them together at some point.
The one thing I didn’t like about the book was that after Florrie and Alec disagreed about how to go about the custody issue. They had relationship problems. I didn’t mind that and I even liked that their friends often jumped in on their issues to let them know when one of them was being to harsh or did something idiotic. I just got sick of the back and forth after a while and I really disliked Florrie at that point. I think that she took things way to far and didn’t even try too see Alec’s side of things when he knew exactly what her side was about and could even understand her side but he still stuck to what he believed in.
Sometimes in books I like it when someone is being a jerk or unreasonable and the other person doesn’t let them get away with it. I liked what Alec did and thought Florrie was in the wrong most of the time. I also loved the supporting characters and this book was as good as the others with the humor. These Reed Security guys are so funny sometimes when they think they or their friends are doing things that aren’t manly. The scene about the fanny packs was hilarious and the ending was fantastic.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
They each have their own POV and there is drama and humor that comes from it
Nightingale is the twenty-fourth book in A Reed Security Romance series and the story is about Alec and Florrie who are both part of Reed Security. They became a couple in the seventeenth book, Alec. This story is about how they each approach and deal with a serious situation as a couple. At times it seems that they won’t but with the amount of love Alec has for Florrie, she for him, and both for Reid they are bound together. Florrie may not be a pink and cotton candy girl but she loves deeply and will defend that to all comers.
This is another wonderful book by Giulia Lagomarsino and addition to the Reed Security series.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
As soon as she got the call she went into a mother bear and would keep them safe no matter what. Their family have now come around but why now? Are they after the money? he is also pulling away from her and she wonders why. He has a secret he should have told her but it may be too late. What will she do when she finds out? See just how it is going to end

This is book twenty four in the amazing Reed Security series. Just when things seem absolutely perfect with Florrie and Alec, the past starts creeping back in and has the potential to destroy their future. Another amazing story in the series that focuses on the continued building of the characters and the series storyline. I cannot stress enough, this is a must read series. Enjoy!

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to say about this book. I hated Florrie in this book, she was a whiny abusive bitch to Alec through no fault of his own. She makes him her personal punching bag because of a really crappy and hard situation they go through with Reid who they are fostering. There is cheating in this story which would normally I would not even read, but to me it didn’t really feel like cheating. Florrie tells Alec repeatedly that it is over and that he is a horrible person, I think at some point he was bound to believe her.
I gave this book the 4 stars because Giulia wove the story so well to make me hate Florrie as much as I did and feel so much sympathy for Alec.

Yes Giulia Lagomarsino, you will choose sides in this, but I am #TeamAlec, but later in the book, it was tough (no spoilers). Both Alec and Florrie are emotionally torn apart in the book, but how they handle it, their pasts, and their future together, with or without an important part of that family is this whole story. This does have a bit of the humor, banter, dialogue that readers all love about the Reed Security Family, just not as much. This book is a heartbreaker, tearjerker, and ultimately we come to HFN headed to HEA. Another great read, I cant believe this is 24 and my heart is breaking that these books have an end in sight.

This a well written and fast paced story that captivated me from the start. The storyline is entertaining and action packed. The characters are wonderful. Can not wait for the next book in this series.
Oh boy. Be prepared to have your heart broken and out back together again. Such a superb book. Can’t wait for next installment

I have become such a fan of this author. I have read so many of her books and always enjoy them. This was a captivating read. This story is about Florrie and Alec. They suffer from their past. Florrie’s self esteem took a hit and she believed she wasn’t loveable while Alec took the challenge always trying to show her she was. The couple seemed to have to live through one hot after another, first Florrie found she was unable to have children, but then they found a boy, Reid and planned to adopt him. Just when the couple decides to marry, Reid’s Aunt and Uncle show up. Alec and Florrie’s are beyond devastated but what’s worse is that they both handle their grief of the situation very differently, including their feelings about Reed Security which has everyone at Reed also up in arms and on different sides.

I am so happy to have found this author and she does not disappoint. With this book, she has once again delivered an emotionally packed storyline with characters that take one’s breath away as real-life situations bleed onto the pages. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the series from the beginning so you meet the characters and see how the dynamics play out between the different people. Alec is the Reed Security leader of team five. He is a tortured man who has done everything in his power to move away from his past to be the best that he can be. However, he takes it upon himself to make decisions that can impact others without their input which causes some blowback. Florrie is a member of team five and Alec’s significant other. She is a woman with trust issues and knows her own mind and what she wants out of life. Reid is a fourteen-year-old boy who lived a life that no child should have to endure. Fortunately, he was found by Florrie and Alec when he was living on the street and his life did a one eighty. Florrie and Alec took Reid in and they became his temporary guardians. However, when questions with regards to Reid’s guardianship arise, a wedge begins to form between some of the members of the security team.
I have to say that I was team Alec. He understood what Reid had gone through and was able to see past his own feelings to do what he felt was in Reid’s best interest. Florrie came off as a selfish woman who was unable to think about anyone except herself. This is one riveting read that any reader should pick up and experience for him or herself. I highly recommend. I volunteered to read a copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Alec and Florrie have some major obstacles to overcome in order to advance their relationship. They have gotten temporary guardianship of a runaway teenage boy and a surprise might jeopardize this relationship. The team members are forced to take sides in a tense, emotional situation. Characters from previous books are included but can easily be read as a stand-alone.

Alec & Florrie
No one has accused her of being a girly girl. She can take on any man and has. Her relationship with Alec is volatile, to say the least. Yet, things were going great. She had something she always wanted and never thought she’d have—until…
Alec loved her more than he thought possible. He’d thought there was nothing he wouldn’t give her to make her happy. He was wrong. The decision he had to make wouldn’t just affect them. It could ruin the lives of everyone they cared about.
This was a tough read for me. I love the series and the antics of the guys are hysterical. There is still some of that going on, however, there is also a brutal situation that makes them take sides against each other. Will they come out of it still a team and a family?
Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
I recommend reading the series in order first, as this is the second Alec and Florrie’s book (first one was “Alec”). That one was early in their relationship. This book’s conflict is around fighting for custody of Reid, a teenager they took in and want to adopt. I did find myself disliking Florrie much of the story. The characters were not handling conflict well at all. Signs of a great book – when you are getting emotionally attached tot he characters and get annoyed at how they are behaving!

Florrie is a member of Reed Security Team 5. She’s strong, independent, as tough as any of the men, and not a girly-girl. Alex is the Team 5 leader, and he’s strong and protective, and Florrie is his weakness. They have temporary custody of Reid, a kid they found on the street who had a horribly abusive living situation with his stepfather. When his birth father’s sister steps forward to ask for custody, it threatens the unconventional family that they’ve formed, and very nearly destroys Florrie and Alec’s relationship. Now I understand the author’s frustration and dislike of these two characters. In their first book, I didn’t like Alec a whole lot. But this time, it’s Florrie who pissed me off. I understand that Alec made decisions about Reid without talking to her first, but she took it out on him in spades, never letting up. Of course, he committed the ultimate betrayal of their relationship, although that was done after he finally left like she asked. And their issues very nearly destroy Reed Security, pitting friend against friend, sides chosen and weapons drawn. When they get along, the banter between the Reed Security guys is just hilarious, as always. The story sucked me in at the very beginning, and kept my interest throughout. It was an emotional roller coaster, a ride that I wasn’t sure anyone would survive. On to Parker…

I love this series and have read every book in it the moment I see a new one I have to have it so I may be a little biased when I say this is one of the best security company series around The guys and girls at Reed security are like family and like all families they have their ups and downs and they love to torment one another and this comes through in every story line This one is a little different in that we have met the couple involved before Alec and Florrie starred in the book Alec and this is a continuation of their story and in this case their drama will cause the entire Reed family to pick sides
Alec and Florrie are about to get married and intend to adopt Reid the fourteen year old they have been fostering ever since they rescued him from his step father a senator who intended to have him killed to garner the sympathy vote for himself. Things for the adoption are going well until his aunt and uncle from Utah decide that they want him. How Alec and Florrie want to handle this is on opposite ends of the spectrum and they clash over it causing members of Reed security to take sides and you as a reader will as well Will they get a HEA or will they destroy what they have You will have to read to see
Part of the massive Reed Security series, this is about teammates Alec & Florrie. We’ve met them before, and they’ve been outed as a couple & have custody of young Reid. I liked that we learned about Alec’s history, which explains his own experiences, similar to Reid. Alec has already learned that his life is less rich without Florrie in it. I’m quite conflicted by this story. It’s like I can see both sides of Alec & Florrie’s issues-there are no sides to take, and I was cheering for them as a couple. I love stories where we watch characters slowly fall in love over time-this was the opposite. The small, slow death of a relationship was painful to watch. And of course, the author took her time in building the couple back better and stronger. A few light-hearted moments in the book, too. Love to revisit Alec & Florrie in future.
I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.
In this 24th book to the series, we get to focus on Florrie and Alec. Oh my god, what I was reminded of as far as Reid’s background as a child with the Senator had me ready to bawl all over again! Thank god it as just a dream, but still hard to read! With everything that happened in this story, I had to make sure I had a box of tissues near me. I had a hard time choosing between Florrie and Alec. I got to see Jamie again!!! Yay! Still a nice guy. Why does he need Reed Security’s help this time? What happens? Read and see if the company will survive this battle!
