1271 A.D. – The Wolfe’s greatest son is a man known as NIGHTHAWK.Patrick de Wolfe is every bit his father’s son – cunning, intelligent, and ruthless. An enormous man with his father’s dark hair and his mother’s pale green eyes, he’s the man destined to lead William de Wolfe’s great legacy. He is so great, in fact, that the king has personally asked for his service, as one of the king’s personal … king’s personal body guards. On the eve of Patrick departing for this auspicious assignment, he finds himself caught up in a skirmish along the Scots border.
And a prize lands in his lap that will change his destiny.
A prize in the form of a Scots captive harboring a deadly and important secret, one that could bring war and destruction upon those who shelter her. When Brighton “Bridey” de Favereux is rescued by the powerful English knight, she is taken back to the massive fortress of Questing Castle, seat of the legendary de Wolfe family. Having known nothing but hardship and cruelty her entire life, she is surprised when they are kind to her. The English, who are supposed to be her mortal enemy, are gracious and generous. For the first time, she understands that people can be kind to each other.
And the kindest one of all is the man who saved her.
Some loves are unexpected while others are instantly realized. The love between Patrick and Brighton is something that comes from a deeper place of understanding and attraction, a powerful love that cannot be denied… but it is a love that may cost them both their very lives when Bridey’s terrible secret is uncovered.

Patrick de Wolfe is an enormous man who is destined to lead his father’s legacy. The king has personally asked for her service and one of his personal bodyguards. Before he can depart he finds himself in a skirmish along the Scots border. What he doesn’t expect is a beautiful woman who was kidnapped from an abby.
This was a slow building romance that was very sweet. Patrick is the strong, protective knight with a large wonderful family. Brighton (Bridey) is the innocent and sheltered woman who has just learned the truth of her heritage. Patrick saves Bridey from raiders and whisks her away to safety in his keep. Her parentage makes it unsafe for her to return to the church, not that he really wants her to. Patrick fights his attraction to her at first but quickly realizes he has fallen hard for this beautiful innocent woman who is finally getting a taste of real life. I really enjoyed their relationship. It was so sweet and cute.
“But we could live in a cave on the coast and I would still call it home if you were there. Wherever you are, that is my home.”
While some of the beginning was very slow and dense in details I still really enjoyed it. The story was good, the characters sweet, and the love was intense and perfect. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
I have read the series and enjoyed each one. Would recommend highly.
Nothing like a Leveque historical
I loved Reading all of the de Wolf books and especially the son’s of de Wolf as they attempt to make their own way in a world dominated by their father’s reputation.
Love all of this author’s writing!
Love the whole series of books
If anyone knows how to deliver medieval romance, Kathryn Le Veque is the one. Nighthawk is a spectacular historical romance. Ms. Le Veque has provided readers with a well-written book populated with a magnificent cast of characters. Patrick is a warrior and in command of Berwick Castle when he rescued Brighton after she was kidnapped. Brighton and Patrick’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sexy bits, action and suspense. I loved reading this book and look forward to reading more from Kathryn Le Veque soon. Nighthawk: Sons of de Wolfe is book 3 of the de Wolfe Pack Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
loved it
This whole line of books is very good reading–historical and romantic and action.
I have read all Diana’s books. I was so sad when the book ended. Great story.
I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a realistic medieval knight and authentic book that was a true period piece! All of this author’s books you can look up the information on the battles that are depicted and find that she does her homework! I love that when she is describing something that you can feel yourself right there and it’s like you have transcended through a portal! I get so caught up in her books that I tune out things around me and I am such an avid reader that it takes a truly inspiring writer to carry me away! I hope other readers will find her books as awesome not just for the romantic aspect, but the fact she goes the extra steps to insure that her historical information is accurate which is so important because history is what we need to know about to share and pass on because so many people never had the opportunity for learning or to travel and these books become the portal for people to learn of other cultures and how are society started! Kathryn Le Veque pours her passion for us her readers and I know I feel blessed!!
this is another great read from LeVeque. I could spend the reat of my life with her books.
I’ve read it twice already!
Looking forward to the sequels. Want to follow these families further!
