From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Douglas comes the thrilling, final installment in the Devil’s Night series…
Will Grayson has always been an animal, though. Reckless, wild, and someone who was never bound by a single rule other than to do exactly what he wanted. There was no way his grandfather was going risk him humiliating the family again.
Not that the last time was entirely his fault. He might’ve enjoyed backing me into corners in high school when no one was looking, so they wouldn’t catch on that Mr. Popular actually wanted a piece of that quiet, little nerd he loved to torture so much, but…
He could also be warm. And fierce in keeping me safe.
The truth is… He has a right to hate me.
It’s all my fault. Everything.
Devils Night. The videos. The arrests.
I’m to blame for all of it.
And I regret nothing.
WILL
I never minded being locked up. I learned a long time ago that being treated like an animal gives you permission to act like one. No one has ever looked at me any other way.
Their only mistake is believing anything I do is an accident. I can sit in this house with no Internet, television, liquor, or girls, but I’ll come out of here with something far more frightening to my enemies.
A plan.
And a new pack of wolves.
I just didn’t expect one of my enemies to come to me.
I don’t know who smuggled her in or if they meant to leave her here, but I can smell her hiding in the house. She’s here.
And as the security detail leaves the supplies, the gates close, and the door to my gilded cage opens, giving me free reign of the house and grounds for another unsupervised month, I remember with a smile…
Blackchurch houses five prisoners. I’m only one of her problems.
*Nightfall is a full-length, romantic suspense suitable for readers 18+. It’s necessary to read the prior installments in the series before starting this story.

“‘ , ‘ * . ‘ . .”
: new adult, dark romance, obsessed boy trope, second chance, enemies to lovers, steamy read
*TW for explicit abuse scenes*
William Aaron Paine Grayson III. That’s it. That’s all it matters, okay? My favorite man since day one and he didn’t disappoint. I’m a sucker for books where the hero falls for the heroine first and this is the best book for this trope. When I’m telling you he loves Emory since he knows what the word “love” means, I ain’t lying
Switching past and present chapters with dual POV, the book follows Will and Emory’s relationship and why they could never be together. The past scenes are painful to read since we get to see explicitly Emory being abused and how her world is going down. Ngl, I cried when she was suffering all alone, but I’m glad she met Will and to see their few moments being happy during such an awful time.
Back to present, both characters are different to their youngest self, but there is still old feelings involved. At first, I thought they were a bit toxic to each other, but I enjoyed their banter and the s*xual tension they have.
Will and Emory are quite different compared to the previous characters, yet I couldn’t think of someone better for Will as Emory. Not only she is smart, cocky and strong, but I also adore how b*tchy she can be. Meanwhile Will is as sweet as he was in the previous books, but man I fell for him harder when he showed his most protective side to his girl (he is willing to rip off the world to make her happy, and damn right I love him for that)
Besides how long the book is, you are entertained from the very beginning to the last page, because it doesn’t only follows Emory and Will as a couple, but we get the conclusion of everyone involved in the series, including their parents and Alex. Plus towards the end we meet their kids, including few glimpses of their journey
Overall, this was as good as I expected from Penelope and I couldn’t have asked for a better ending. Not only it gave the best conclusion for my man Will, but also to all the other horsemen who I love so dearly. Definitely a MUST READ!!!
SPOILERS 2.5 stars
WILL AND EMORY??? i fell in love. from the beginning they were so SOFT towards each other, especially will<3 their love was so pure and the flashbacks were precious and everything I didn’t know I needed in this book. (view spoiler)
“But before I could escape from his lap, he grabbed my chin in one hand and wrapped his other arm around my waist, pulling me in. Against his body, and whispering so softly no one could hear him but me.
“Don’t you know that you can have anything you want?” His eyes searched mine. “I’ll hurt anyone for you.”
The weight on my chest was too heavy, it almost hurt to breathe.
“Who is it?” he asked. “Who do I have to hurt?”
“He pulled me in, and I opened my mouth to protest, but instead of a kiss, he just pulled me into his arms, pressed my head to his shoulder, and wrapped his arms around me so tight, it felt like he was the one about to break, not me."
my favourite couple in this series by fucking farrrrr<3
Imagine the power if male and female characters were able to have a beautiful friendship without having sex??? I would like to see at least ONE author do this because I’m sick and tired. Alex and Will?? Yeah I definitely didn’t need to be constantly reminded of them having a very intimate yet casual relationship for god knows how long! They were bestfriends?? Helped each other when they were down?? Great, I love that!! but please why add sex into the mix?? And why do we have to be reminded of it in this book.
exhibit a:
“Alex was always easy to disappear into. I didn’t have to talk or put up a front. I didn’t have to seduce her or pretend.
She was my port in the storm and I was hers.
I watched her form move as she washed her legs and arms. Her hand drifted up the back of her neck, the water from the cloth dripping back into the tub.
She was the only person I’d ever felt completely safe with. The only person I never feared disappointing because the only thing she expected of me was to be there.
Why couldn’t I love her? She got along with my friends. She made me laugh, and her presence was always a comfort. Always.
She fit in my life.
Watching her, I balled my fists, almost convinced I should do it. I should go and lift her into my arms and take her to bed and sink inside of her and…”
I AM SORRY BUT WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT???
exhibit b:
“Years of nights,” I said, and I wasn’t sure if I was saying it more for her or me anymore, but I kept going. “Years of not thinking of you. Nearly an entire life of memories and history that doesn’t include you. You were nothing.”
She stared at me, no longer responding.
“She took care of me.” My voice dropped to nearly a whisper, and I didn’t care that she didn’t know who I was talking about. “She listened to me. Made me smile.”
No movement.
“Stood next to me,” I gritted out. “Fit in with my friends. She’s smart, clever, resourceful, and she took the shitty hand life dealt her and still knows how to love people, unlike you.”
Her eyes blazed, a fire kindling behind them.
“She’s hot in the shower,” I taunted more, “on the beach, against the wall, on the hood of the car in the rain, and in my backseat—”
my mind simply couldn't handle this, i had to stop reading for a bit. i was raging.
exhibit c:
Them together? How good they look together? Him driving into her like he’s done a thousand times and looking down into her eyes as he does it?”
I tensed.
“All the times he was alone with her, inside of her, coming and forgetting about you,” he told Emmy. “You can see it, right?”
disgusting. there are so many more shit like this, for what reason pls????
ALSO,
I didn’t think nightfall needed the sex fest/orgy scene that took place, it brought nothing to the book? Is it suppose to represent a sense of freedom? To provide smut? What is it with authors that need to have threesomes/orgies etc in books that are considered “dark”? What does this accomplish? In some books, YES it works so well and is needed for the plot and characterisation. But for nightfall?? it added NOTHING to this storyline, it was completely unnecessary. I personally do not like threesomes/orgies in my books because FOR ME, it cheapens the romance/relationship between the characters. You have the H who is possessive over the h so why would he let others have sex with her or be involved?? it just baffles me. There was one part where alex was moaning will's name!! that shit is uncomfortable for emmy when she already feels so insecure and envious over alex so why include it in the book? what do we gain from this???? I know majority of the readers couldn’t wait for these scenes and I don’t understand why??? So emmy was literally jealous and angry about alex and then five seconds later they’re getting off with each other in front of everyone??? Who wants to have sex with the person they are jealous of???? HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE??? Then emmy is later formally introduced to the girls??? lmaooo I really don’t understand. As damon said, it truly was “some weirdo, bacchanalian sex fest”. Forever grateful misha and ryen were never involved in any of the orgies in this series, i'd fucking riot if that ever transpired.
This book was too fucking long. I skimmed ALOT because most scenes felt like fillers and it did nothing to contribute to the overall story. So many scenes made me laugh because it was so fucking ridiculous and dramatic just like the rest of the books. I definitely didn't connect to this series at all, so i was surprised to give this 3 stars but was VERY close to rating it one star for several fucking reasons. Anyway, i enjoyed reading will and emmy content and that is the only reason i'm giving it a very weak 3 stars, basically 2.5. Will i ever reread this book? HELL FUCKING NO. I was angry throughout the majority of this book and would never put myself through this again. However, the love Will has for emmy was lovely to read, i honestly adored him but he did also really fucking piss off in some parts! Of course, will and emmy's relationship wasn't all sunshines and rainbows but it was enjoyable and i had nothing else to read so i thought, why the fuck not give it ago lmao. and the epilogue was so sweet too.
“It’s a boy?” he blurted out. “Are you sure?”
We leaned in, and I folded my lips between my teeth to contain the laughter.
A baby cried, there was some shuffling, and then we heard Damon’s playful little growl. “Ugh, what am I going to do with you?”
“Damon!” Winter growled. “I’m going to kill you. You better love him. You do, right?”
There was a pause, and I met Alex’s wide eyes with my own.
Drama…
Damon and I ran the construction business together now, him building and me designing, so I’d gotten used to his…brand of humor.
Finally, he answered. “Y–yeah,” he stuttered, not sounding convincing. “Yeah, of course, baby. But like, are you sure there aren’t any more in there or something?”

I am not ready to talk about this yet. However, my Queen, Penelope, deserves a review. So here I am doing my duty as a loyal reader. This is probably one of the worst book hangovers of my life. I cannot fathom the fact that this series is over. I have read Fire Night already and my sobs were not pretty. I can tell you that much.
Penelope is one of the best writers of our generation. This book could have been a little shorter, but the quality in her writing never changes. Unforgettable characters, fast-paced, unbelievable twists, breathtaking romance and the most fun I have ever had while reading a series in my life. The thriller aspects of every book in this series are out of this world.
I cannot believe this entire world and these very very very real characters came out of some woman’s brain. Her creativity, her voice, her writing, everything resonates with me deeply. She is one of my favorite authors of all times and I will support her in whatever way I can so she never, ever stops writing.
You are unbelievable Penelope. You are an inspiration to me as a woman and I love to love you. ( and I mean this in the least creepy way as possible, coming from someone who doesn’t actually know you in real life, and can come across as a little stalker ish, but I mean…we have all been there. This is what overwhelming support looks like)
I don’t know why I was so scared to read this one, it was so good. I only wish there was more of Em and Will than all of the others. Everytime I think I know a character, I learn more and more about them and it is more than I ever could have expected. I also need a book about Alex. I am so thankful Aydin was introduced in this book, but MORE PLEASE.
I’m on a book hangover. I’ve always said the best books stick with you for days after you close it, and this is exactly what nightfall is. I think about them when I go to sleep and when I wake up. I knew Will’s book would be my favorite and that’s exactly what it was. His love for Emory just makes the world a better place. It was a true chase. I loved it. For three days I did nothing but read. Didn’t cook or clean and stayed up til the early morning hours until I forced myself to break. I loved reading about the past and present, and how we got more of the other characters we love. Damon charged ahead to my number two heroine in this one, right behind will. That man has so many layers. This books stirred every emotion from tearing up to laughing out loud. I truly hope there will be more from this series someday. I will miss it terribly, and it will stick with me for a lifetime.
I can’t deny that Penelope Douglas delivers a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the story. I’m absolutely in awe how the Devils Night saga that we first learned about in book one was told over four books involving the four Horseman and how I was still reeling from secrets and lies of that one night four books later. This is such a cleverly woven plot that knocked me completely on my ass!
The final Horseman to tell his tale is William Grayson III , his presence was missing for a lot of the previous books and here we find out why. The double crossing , lies, twists , family secrets all come together in Nightfall. Will and Emery Scott… Holy Moly… could their happiness have any more obstacles in their way?! I thought the corrupt forces were going to win this one Justice did not come easily. Once again they made the perfect couple , played to each other’s strengths, Emery made Will want to be a better person not just for himself, he knew he was on a destructive path. She was the catalyst to him to turn his life around.
However, I have a feeling that we haven’t seen the last of these four guys. There’s still the 60 year old mystery of the first Horseman to reveal not to mention the epilogue …. like WHAT THE HELL !! I hope there is another book coming. I’m not ready to give this world up yet!
This was the end of a brilliant series and I still remember the way I was so emotional when I was reading and even after I finished the book.
It was a long time coming for these two and their story was everything I was expecting and even more. I was so addicted and curious to know everything that was going on but at the same time I didn’t want it to end.
Will and Emory were completely opposites but they were absolutely perfect together and I just loved every moment of their story.

“WE WANT WHAT WE WANT”
I loved every minute spent reading this series! This book alone was one hell of a journey. I never wanted it to come to an end. I had been so excited to finally read Will’s story, I didn’t expect to fall in love with a whole new group of characters. I loved getting to know Will so very much. He had so many interesting layers than just his fun, loving side. His heart is so big and I loved every surprising aspect of him.
Emory was unexpected in so many different and admirable ways. She quickly became my favorite of all the heroines in this series. She had an ideal life until her brother had to take care of her and her life became a nightmare. What she had to deal with brought tears to my eyes but she kept moving on and maintained steel in her spine.
Will wanted her from the beginning and could never understand why she acted the way she did. Then came Blackchurch where the misbehaving rich are sent when their families are embarrassed by their behavior but don’t want jail to further embarrass them. It’s apparent, it isn’t anywhere Emory deserves to be. Yet someone puts her there and now not only is she trapped with Will but four others and who knows what they are capable of.
The adventure, questions, heat, action and romance made it almost impossible to put the book down. As I read this book and the four before it, I really felt like I’d become a part of their Devil’s Night crew and I really didn’t want it all to end. I can’t think of one thing missing from this amazing series. Penelope Douglas has definitely cemented her place as one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to jump into all of her other works.
“You either have my back,” Michael said.
“You’re at my side,” Kai continued.
“Or you’re in my way,” the rest of us finished.
“Be Lilith,” the girls said.
Athos pulled the Red Death over her eyes, all of us setting off as she whispered,
“Never Eve.”
I went into this book with anxious anticipation and ended it on a good note. I appreciated the dual timeline because it helped build and mold these characters in the present state.
This book started out strong and kept me on my toes with interest, but I got a little lost about 50% in. I just couldn’t quite follow where the story was taking me and although I do enjoy some hot sexy group action, there was one particular scene that just didn’t fit in. however, I did find my footing once the setting of the story landed back in Thunder Bay. I’m so glad I finished it off because that epilogue was well worth the 20 hours it took to get there. And once again, I am utterly excited to see if this is a start to a new series with the next gen kids of Thunder Bay.
I listened while reading along to the narration and was very much satisfied with both Tatiana and Jeremy’s work. Jeremy’s voice fit Will’s character to a T and is very pleasing to the ear *wink, wink*
“You either have my back….”
“You’re at my side….”
“Or you’re in my way…”
“Be Lilith, Never Eve.”
We’re sadly at the end of this amazing series.
Best series I’ve read this year.
This was the best way to end Devil’s Night .
Will Grayson , the wild one, more reckless than the others but secretly looking for something . Someone.
“Because he’s the one pure, beautiful thing untainted by ugliness,” he repeated his same words from the shower. “And we love him for it.”
Since high school he was attracted to Emory , the quiet nerd that he loved to get a rise out of , he loved to challenged her , to torture her. He just wanted her.
But then when they finally got closer Devil’s Night happened .
And then years later the meet agin , not in the best circumstances ever.
Their journey wasn’t easy , it was filled with obstacles , unresolved business and so much unspoken feelings. And ANGST , SO MUCH ANGST .
It was amazing seeing all the gang together again .
“You and me against the world,” he whispered, picking up speed and going harder. “Always,” I said.”
I simply loved it .
I don’t even know how to describe what I felt , but I was on a constant rollercoaster of emotions .
I really recommend it , you won’t regret it.
“I am not scared,” he repeated. “I am the eye of the storm. The calm in the madness.” I blew out a breath, drawing in another, slower. “The quiet in the chaos. The patience for my moment.”
I gave it 5 stars
I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did.
I wish I could give this book so much more than five stars. Penelope Douglas is a master at writing a layered, all-consuming suspenseful romance that makes you hope your breath and keeps your head spinning. I love the depth of the characters. The world she has created in this series is an absolute labyrinth of secrets and tension. I loved this book and will definitely be recommending it to everyone!
*****Spoilers************
Oh my gosh!!! I absolutely loved every sentence!!!! I read all the books close together so the 5 stories all together is so amazing! It feels like I’m part of the family too!!! Sweet sad Will. So heartbreakingly painful and just torn. Its so crazy how each and every story intertwines with the last and you find out little tidbits here and there and all over the dang place! A journey I never wanted to it. I hope it doesn’t. That epilogue was so good and I need more. I love love love these characters so much! I’m so glad Alex got her happy ending too! Damn that Aydin!! I really liked Aydin in the Blackchurch house. He was def tempting. Oh little hot and cold Will gave me whiplash. Emmy too! They’re perfect for each other! Lol Anyways I loved riding this rollercoaster ride with you Penelope Douglas and now I can dive into other juicy goodness you have made! Please please please continue this story!!! I’m wailing on the inside its finished. I can’t say the word LOVE enough. I mean it. Take me now Lord. Lol
Finally had a chance to read Emory & Will’s story! I had such a book hangover afterwards, I had to watch some Netflix before diving into another book!
This book was on a whole new level. So much unexpected twisted events that will tear you to pieces, make you scream, curse like a sailor, & want to walk away for a bit to get a grip on realty before diving back in.
Grab this series, best of luck to you! I would lock your doors before starting this series let along this massive action packed thriller!
WTH, I DID NOT EXPECT THIS!! Throughout the whole book I was on the edge of my seat. EVERY time Emory rejected Will, I would groan out loud and my brother would and make a joke about how much of geek I am. This story really reminded me of myself because I’m your typical nerd but I’m also in love with a guy that you could call a “bad boy.” I loved how rough and free Will acted on the outside but he had a super soft side for Emory. I’ve always loved books where the nerd gets the bad boy so I was really happy to read this book. This book reminded me of one of my favorite quotes : “Boys wanna good girl who’ll we bad just for them ,and girls wanna bad boy who’ll be good just for them.” 🙂
Love. Hate. Friends. Enemies. Trust. Betrayal. Truth. Lies. BROKEN HEARTS!
Nightfall is like “Douglas’ Box” – You want to open it, because it’s calling out Your name by tempting mermaid’s voice… AND BE SURE!!!! You are NOT READY, SO NOT READY what is waiting for You inside.
Nightfall is everything. LITERALLY. And Mrs. Douglas is a Queen ! She created masterpiece. From one paige to another one She’d taken my breath away…Did She test my limits??? Yes, as always, BUT in the same moment…. I was sure, even more than ever – trusting her as an author is the best choice I’ve ever done. She mixed perfectly every single thing with the previous books, and made my view more wide, with tons of emotions in the background.
My heart exploded for Will. My was heart breaking for Emory. My heart is full of love for The Horsemen and Their Women.
Why???? This book is a truly NIGHTFALL…there are not only black colors or white in our lives. Every secrets – small or biggest one are hidden in the… Nightfall, and it’s only WE, who decide if we wanna fight them, or pretend that we can’t see in the dark. Be bold. Be brave. Be Lilith in Your own life.
The Devil’s Night series is one of my favorite dark romance series of all time. Anything I say about it or this particular installment could never do it justice. Penelope Douglas deserves an endless amount of praise for the phenomenal job she did with this series though, so it’s only right that I give it my best shot.
Nightfall is more than just one couple’s story. It’s the end of a complex storyline that has spanned across over 2,000 pages, four books, and a novella. A story that is intricate, layered, and intriguing from start to finish! Even the last lines of this book made me want to dive into the stories of the second generation of characters born into this series.
Unfortunately, for now, the author has no plans to give us those stories, and that truly breaks my heart. I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted a second generation series as badly as I do this one. The world Penelope created is unlike anything else I’ve ever read, and I hate that this is the last time I’ll ever get to experience it.
The plot of every single book in the series is perfection. Each installment is well-written, engaging, and enthralling. That being said, the characters will forever be what I love most about this series. Their personal battles, emotional scars, and multidimensional personalities are what have stolen my heart time and again.
The family the author formed amongst these individuals is one I’ll never forget. Their relationships are unconventional, complicated, special, and incredibly beautiful. Their romances are angsty and breathtaking, and the sex throughout the series is fan yourself, change your panties more than once before you’re through level hot!
*Skip the next three paragraphs if you don’t want to hear me gush over my favorite character in the series. LOL*
Out of the entire cast of characters, Damon is the star of the show as far as I’m concerned. His character has evolved and progressed further and more spectacularly than any other, and he is by far the most complex individual character in the series. I will argue with anyone that has the nerve to dispute that fact. He’s intertwined with the other characters in a variety of ways, particularly Will and every single one of the heroines.
His complicated relationships with his sisters are my favorite non-romantic relationships in the series. I loved watching them interact, and their connections grow and change over time. Damon’s connection to Winter is intense and beautiful, and the similarities between himself and Emory are plain for anyone to see.
Will is his best friend and the brother he never had. Their relationship isn’t without it’s complications, but nobody can deny their strong bond or the deep love they have for one another. Aside from being the wrap up of the entire Devil’s Night series, Nightfall is Will’s story, and you get a lot of the Damon/Will dynamic throughout this book. If you enjoy their unique friendship, you won’t be disappointed.
*end gush*
Out of all of the characters in this series, Will has always been the most mysterious. I never felt like I truly knew who he was at his core. To be honest, he never stood out next to the other men in the series prior to this book for me. It’s one of the reason’s I was so excited to finally get his story. I wanted to find out who Will was inside and out, and the author delivered. I loved that in the end, he had such an important role in the resolution of the series. He was working behind the scenes all along, and his hardwork paid off in this installment.
Will and Emory’s relationship is one I enjoyed both in the past and present. I wish we would have been able to experience more of them once they got together, but the book was already damn near 700 pages. I can certainly understand why we didn’t get more than we did. Aside from that, the author had to wrap up this entire series alongside Will’s individual story which couldn’t have been an easy task. Was it EXACTLY what I wanted? No.
Do I think Pen could have pleased everyone when there was so much to be done and readers are invested to this level? No.
Did I enjoy the fuck out of this book? YES!
Is it as intriguing, hot, dark, and captivating as the rest of the series? Absolutely!
Is it worth the read? Hell yes!
Did the author do an incredible job with Will’s story and the ending to this series? Without question!
Would I recommend it? Fuck yes! It’s a necessity if you love this series or dark romance in general. A fantastic end to one of the most amazing series I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading!
Thank you, Penelope Douglas, for this masterpiece. I’ll be forever grateful to you for writing the way you do with unique storylines and morally gray characters that push our boundaries and for giving me one of my favorite characters and series of all time.
Fans of the Devil’s Night series and just damn good dark romance, this one’s for you!
What an epic conclusion to this series!!! I loved Will and everything about his story. It all makes perfect sense now with his path and it was so him. Emory is incredibly tough and I loved how she put herself first in what she did and chose. Brilliant beyond words and so worth the wait!!
There was so much hype about Will and Emory prior to the release of this book that I thought it was probably going to be better than the rest. I won’t say the book is bad but for some reason, I expected more. Unfortunately, for me, whether I was happy that Alex was a part of this story her character overshadowed Emory. However, it still a good book and worth reading.
It’s embarrassing how long this book took me (thanks, essays!) considering the amazingness of it.
Nightfall really stands out from the other three books. I would consider it lighter than the others, the end of the massive plot of the series, and also the most tragic one.
Will is a great character. He shares the qualities of the other guys, but he is definitely on the sweeter side. Back in high school, he never wanted to play with Emory, but just have her. To the present time, despite the anger, he feels the same. He never played games, was straight with her, and honestly very cute. He knew he wanted her for a long time coming; it was just up to her to say yes.
I really enjoyed the time at Blackchurch. It was interesting, because it appeared separate from the other books. They were in this other world almost. It does link in with the main plot and I feel this series had a great ending to the crazy story that has spanned three other books.
I’m really happy how it ended for all the characters. I’m glad Alex got her happy ending, though I never liked her and this book strengthened my dislike for her.
All in all, great ending and I loved reading it, but it isn’t the favorite of the series.
It’s taken me a while to figure out how to write this review. I think I was processing that the world of the Four Horsemen is actually done, which makes me sorta sad. But the ending was just perfect.
Will Grayson has always been a bit mysterious to me. I’ve always wanted to know more about him, and let me tell you, Pen did not disappoint. I loved getting Will’s POV from back in the day, and then seeing how much he’s changed since. He’s kind of the perfect man. Hot with a great sense of humor, charming and dangerous. A good boy look with a bad boy inside. And all he truly wanted was to be loved, and to find out who he was.
The only negative I could find with this book was that I struggled relating to Emory just a wee bit. It wasn’t a big deal, but there were times when I just couldn’t comprehend why Will was so head over heels for her, especially when she was so awful to him time and time again. Of course she had her reasons. And abuse is a damn good one, so I sympathize with her. What she went through was terrible and I was almost in tears for her a few times. The only issue was that she was blindingly stubborn one minute and then letting go of her hang-ups the next. It was a bit inconsistent, but I’m not surprised. The female characters in this series are like that. It’s no secret I felt the same way about Rika, and I even struggled with Winter a bit, too. (Wasn’t sure if she was good enough for my baby Damon. Maybe I was just jealous lol). Banks is another story though. She’s one of my favorite female MC’s of all time. What can I say? I like em badass. CONSISTENTLY badass, I should say lol.
But I digress. The book was phenomenal. I loved the addition of the new guys. I wish there were more Rory and Micah scenes, because we all know I love my MM ;-D. And not to spoil but I looovvveeddd getting even the slightest bit of Will/Damon stuff. Obsessed, as per usual.
I think that was my real favorite part of the book. Damon lol. We got so many awesome Damon moments, it was like Kill Switch part 2, to an extent. I really loved how the ending wrapped up with the action, the kids, and everything. It was exciting, dark and sexy, just like the Devil’s Night series has been since Corrupt. Do I think there could be a whole other book dedicated to the Epilogue Pen started? Sure. But it doesn’t need to be written. I can use my imagination and just pretend that my loves in Thunder Bay are still out there, having adventures and being awesome together.
Anyway, this book was an exquisite end to one of my favorite series of all time. I’m beyond satisfied and I highly recommend it, as usual. Applause to Penelope Douglas for being the fucking best.
