From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Douglas comes the thrilling, final installment in the Devil’s Night series…
Will Grayson has always been an animal, though. Reckless, wild, and someone who was never bound by a single rule other than to do exactly what he wanted. There was no way his grandfather was going risk him humiliating the family again.
Not that the last time was entirely his fault. He might’ve enjoyed backing me into corners in high school when no one was looking, so they wouldn’t catch on that Mr. Popular actually wanted a piece of that quiet, little nerd he loved to torture so much, but…
He could also be warm. And fierce in keeping me safe.
The truth is… He has a right to hate me.
It’s all my fault. Everything.
Devils Night. The videos. The arrests.
I’m to blame for all of it.
And I regret nothing.
WILL
I never minded being locked up. I learned a long time ago that being treated like an animal gives you permission to act like one. No one has ever looked at me any other way.
Their only mistake is believing anything I do is an accident. I can sit in this house with no Internet, television, liquor, or girls, but I’ll come out of here with something far more frightening to my enemies.
A plan.
And a new pack of wolves.
I just didn’t expect one of my enemies to come to me.
I don’t know who smuggled her in or if they meant to leave her here, but I can smell her hiding in the house. She’s here.
And as the security detail leaves the supplies, the gates close, and the door to my gilded cage opens, giving me free reign of the house and grounds for another unsupervised month, I remember with a smile…
Blackchurch houses five prisoners. I’m only one of her problems.
*Nightfall is a full-length, romantic suspense suitable for readers 18+. It’s necessary to read the prior installments in the series before starting this story.

GAHHHHHH, 5 years I’ve waited for this finale and I couldn’t be more happier about it! My mind is still reeling. Will and Damon I can’t choose, but what a wild ride for this series. Oh man, the horsemen with their kids is actually quite funny and that epilogue!!!! Seriously such a tease and I only hope there could be more in this world!
4,5 stars
After 5 years loving this world, this characters and the stories, we finally got to the end. I loved NIGHTFALL and I am already missing my boys. This book has an amazing and satisfying ending (although it leaves the door open with possibilities of more).
My heart broke for Emory and her past was really hard to read (trigger warning here!!). And Will was so different from the other boys because he knew Emory was the one since he was a kid. It was hard to see his heart break over and over but I understood Emory.
Sometimes we wait for the final installment of a series and we don’t get everything we want, we don’t get all the answers. But Penelope actually did it. She gave us all the answers and more than 600 pages of these handsome, broken and crazy boys.
It has a lot of characters in this book so sometimes I missed more focus on Emory and Will, but I enjoyed the new characters like Rory and Micah. ( Aydin is still debatable).
I spent 5 years with this guys in my head and my heart. It’s not easy to say goodbye to them. CORRUPT was my first read of Pen Douglas and in one single book I fell for her writing and story. This is one of my favorite series ever. And I hope I can read this series again 10 years from now and still feel the rush as I did reading each book of DEVIL’S Night for the first time.
Nightfall is dark, twisted, sexy, and intriguing. It’s big but everything is interesting and all of it has a reason to be in the book. And a lot of people don’t understand why we enjoy dark stories so I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone but the ones, like me, that enjoy stories out of our comfort zone. Like Will said: we want what we want. And I don’t regret a single moment I decided to read this books. It’s a wonderful ending for a perfect series.
My heart is so full after reading this book! Firstly, I would’ve finished the book sooner if people didn’t keep interrupting me. I was so drawn into this book it was hard coming out. Penelope Douglas, you have wowed me, blown me away, and made me fall for your books….HARD! I think its gonna take me a long while to get this series to completely consume my heart. Since the first book, this has been my favorite series and the love I have for it just keeps growing.
Everything about this story was played out perfectly. The story continues on from the group trying to find Will, meanwhile we are taken on a journey through Will and Emory’s story. You can feel the pain and the emotions between these two. through every page it was so strong. During the flashbacks, you could just feel the love and longing that they both wanted to be together, even with things holding them back. They each have to conquer the pains of their past to truly be able to find happiness. The way this book played out wrapped up so much from the questions from previous books. So much made sense while you are reading this, describing every little detail that went wrong on that one Devil’s Night.
These characters, I have loved everyone of them from the very beginning. From them starting as just the Four Horsemen, to growing and becoming stronger, to becoming a family. Each one these characters held a special part in this book. They all were their own piece to the giant puzzle. I can’t tell you how much I love these characters. They are all special in their own way. Ever single one of them will hold a special place in my heart forever, definitely in a group in one section in my heart.
I would willingly hand my heart over to William Aaron Paine Grayson!
As I write this with tears in my eyes, because of the bitter-sweetness that comes with this being the final book of the series and just feeling so many emotions throughout the entire book, I just want to thank Penelope Douglas for all of her hard work on this entire series. The dedication she gave to this series to deliver all of us it, I will be forever grateful!! This series made me feel like myself and give me confidence and strength. It truly means something when a series, let alone one book, connects to yourself and makes you feel all the emotions there is to feel.
If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m totally recommending this one!!
If I had to sum up my experience with Penelope Douglas and her writing, I could do it in one word:
Breathless.
It doesn’t matter the book, the world, the characters or their story, I am left breathless by each word she puts down. The incredible thing is that she doesn’t use words I’ve never heard, either, I know them all. But the way she strings them together in such a powerful way leaves me breathless. Literally, every single time and with every single book.
And with William Aaron Paine Grayson III and Emory Sophia Scott? Well, I took one giant breath when I opened this book and didn’t take another one for 600 plus pages. Their story isn’t easy to read at times, especially Em’s, but you gain so much from them. Strength, support, family. Love. Watching these two grow as both individuals and finally as a couple in such an emotional journey, my heart bounced around from my chest to my stomach to my throat and beat so hard I thought it was going to burst right out of me. I loved every step of it.
Nightfall is an epic conclusion to the Devil’s Night series, a pinnacle story to one of the most incredible sagas I have ever read. Everything about this crew of people is amazing, but it’s their love for one another that speaks to me the most, how they choose one another time and again. They’ve fought, struggled, scrapped, overcome, and succeeded with each other and the bond they all share is unbreakable.
Michael and Rika. Kai and Banks. Damon and Winter. Will and Emmy.
Thunder Bay will always be home for me, just as it is for them. I cannot wait to come back and visit again.
“I get to be me…” he swallowed, staring at me, “when nightfall is coming.”
This series is probably the one that has consumed my head the most from the moment book one released until this one – the ending. I fell in love with the Horsemen, I fell in love with the girls, and I could not get them out of my head.
“We want what we want,” he whispered.
Ever since the first book when there was a small little comment about how Will and Damon were closer than the rest, I wanted more to that story. I just love that Penelope delivered on that wish. I think anything less would have done a big disservice to their story.
I read this book all day…ALL. DAY. It’s a big book, and it’s a long story, be prepared. Is it worth it? Absolutely. 100% and then some. Would I be lying if I didn’t say that the bit of the back and forth between these two got tiresome? Yeah, I would be. That long of a book, and that long of flip flopping, did wear me out. I also think that they could not have moved past everything that happened to them, and all of the series of unfortunate events, with out some work. We see the work, we see the pain, and we see just how much they need each other to do that work. It just wouldn’t be the same with out all of that.
The call of the void is that feeling when you stand in a high place and think about jumping, but don’t actually want to and don’t actually do it. IT’s a feeling more people have had than they’d like to admit…The french have a phrase for it: l’appel du vide, the call of the void.
This group of friends, well family actually, have something that everyone needs. They have faith in each other, love for one another, trust in each other, and a relationship that expands decades. One can only hope to be as lucky as they are. A lot of friendships don’t get that deep, or even last that long. I think this is one of my favorite things about these books.
“L’appel du vide is what binds our family,” I told him. “It’s an idea that connects us, because we all believe in it.”
“Like a religion?”
“It’s how we realized we weren’t alone in the world.”
Same Will…..Same. <3
What makes an epic finale for a book series? It depends on the story, of course. But no matter what series you’ve been reading, you want a finale that ties up loose ends, gives you heart without seeming overly dramatic, and of course makes you feel just as happy, sad, thrilled, or compelled as you did with each previous books, and Nightfall gives you all of this and so much more!
I won’t give you details, this is a book you will love to enjoy reading, a ride you will want to take alone. And all the things you wanted for this series happened, the characters you love have a happy ending, there are new characters you will love and hate and at the end all makes sense.
I can’t believe I wanted this book so much and now I feel that I don’t want it to end, I’m gonna miss so much this characters, the ones we fall in love during this amazing journey and they’ll remain in my heart for good.
Is this the end of The Devil’s Night Series, I hope not, I’d love to know more about them but not now, I want to know what news stories the author can give us, can’t wait for the new stories!!!!
Holy crap!!! Penelope Douglas ended The Devil’s Night series with a jaw dropping BANG!! Nightfall is utterly phenomenal with a cleverly weaved, suspenseful plot filled with angst, exciting twists and turns, secrets and unpredictable moments that will leave you speechless. I feel like I can’t even fully express all of my emotions right now as I’m still on such an emotional and dramatic high. While this book can be read as stand-alone, it certainly would be beneficial to read the previous books from the Devil’s Night series as the stories are connected and reading each book intensifies the experience.
Penelope Douglas created an EPIC conclusion to this series and my goodness did she bring her A game. I was highly curious about Will’s story and she most definitely gave Will the ending he deserved. Will and Emory story is so deep, dark, beautiful, emotional, steamy (so hot and combustible, you will need a cold shower for sure) and the storyline will consume you. While I’m sorry to see The Devil’s Night series come to an end and I don’t want to let The Horsemen and the secondary characters go, I’m thrilled they took me on this journey and it’s definitely worth reading.
