#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The incomparable hero of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back takes readers to school in his most explosive novel yet. After eleven straight global #1 bestsellers, discover the thrillers that The New York Times calls “utterly addictive.” It’s 1996, and Reacher is still in the army. In the morning they give him a medal, and in the afternoon they send him back to school. That … afternoon they send him back to school. That night he’s off the grid. Out of sight, out of mind.
Two other men are in the classroom—an FBI agent and a CIA analyst. Each is a first-rate operator, each is fresh off a big win, and each is wondering what the hell they are doing there.
Then they find out: A Jihadist sleeper cell in Hamburg, Germany, has received an unexpected visitor—a Saudi courier, seeking safe haven while waiting to rendezvous with persons unknown. A CIA asset, undercover inside the cell, has overheard the courier whisper a chilling message: “The American wants a hundred million dollars.”
For what? And who from? Reacher and his two new friends are told to find the American. Reacher recruits the best soldier he has ever worked with: Sergeant Frances Neagley. Their mission heats up in more ways than one, while always keeping their eyes on the prize: If they don’t get their man, the world will suffer an epic act of terrorism.
From Langley to Hamburg, Jalalabad to Kiev, Night School moves like a bullet through a treacherous landscape of double crosses, faked identities, and new and terrible enemies, as Reacher maneuvers inside the game and outside the law.
Praise for Night School

Just when you think it can’t get any better, Lee Child knocks it out of the park in this recent Jack Reacher novel. What more can I say – if you are a fan, you want it!
I didn’t actually read this one myself – this review is courtesy of the oh-so-talented TheAudioBookGuy (aka, Mr. Jill Elizabeth). He normally only reviews audio books BUT he’s a ginormous Lee Child/Jack Reacher fan, so when I got an advance review copy he decided he’d go off-character and read it now rather than wait months to listen…
Here are his thoughts:
The latest Jack Reacher novel may be a prequel, but it still follows the same excellent format that series readers know and love. It’s a format that never gets old – kind of like Jack himself… You can see who the bad guys are a mile away, but it doesn’t matter – I still found myself wrapped up in the story and the journey to the finale. Child’s writing is great. He’s not overly descriptive, instead he gives you just enough to let you know where you are and what that particular corner of the world looks like, and then lets your imagination fill in the blanks. It makes for engaging, involved reading (and listening). There don’t seem to be any shortcomings – it’s another excellent book in a very enjoyable series. I liked it – I liked it a lot.
Our review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
This book goes back to a time in Reacher’s Military career. It had some very different twists to it and kept you reading to see what the next actions were going to be. Very good and in the excellent style that makes this series one that I will always order and read
Each entry in this series has me changing my top recommendations. This 21st entry in the series takes a retrospective look back twenty years.
Reacher is still an MP, and that makes this even more compelling. The detective work for the time period is detailed and the stakes could not be higher.
The villain is unique and the characters are familiar to fans of the series. 5 stars does not do it justice.
Thank you, Mr. Child, may we have another one soon?
This was BEFORE Reacher left the army. As always interesting plot and lots of testosterone!
Although I received a copy of this ebook from the publisher (via netgalley) all opinions are my own.
This isn’t my first Jack Reacher novel so I knew what to expect. What I didn’t know is how interesting it would be to follow Reacher as he broke the case. Not only did he not know what he was looking for, he didn’t know who was selling. Just that there was a big price tag and that the american government was worried. There are some racy scenes, but it wasn’t too distracting from the mystery line. I love the twists that Child puts in the book. Not so far fetched that they are unbelievable, but out there enough that I don’t see them coming.
The only reason this didn’t get more stars from me is because of the slow start it had. Took me forever to get through the first third of the book then I couldn’t put it down. Besides that it was a great story.
as always reacher novels are a nonstop read.
Haven’t got to it yet, but if it’s like the other Lee Child books, once you start you have to read to the end. He sets the hook and you’re in for the duration. My wife gets mad when I get lost in a book and it happens with his all the time.
Great Jack Reacher novel
This is another Reacher book that goes back to his time on active duty in the Army and a look at some old Cold War tactics and weapons. A great read with some good history thrown in.
This book is vintage Jack Reacher. Fast moving, action with a few twists along the way.
I’m sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 7 because it didn’t grab my interest.
If you’re a Reacher fan you know what to expect. If you haven’t read Reacher you’re missing out on the #1 best selling series. If you enjoy suspense, action, evil bad guys and a hero who loves coffee then Reacher is for you.
Thought provocative book
ONE OF CHILD’S BEST
Not one of his best. Lee seemed to fade a bit after Never Go Back which was my 2nd favorite of his Jack Reacher novels. Tripwire was my favorite.
Reacher rocks!
Night school is one of Childs latest Reacher books. I don’t know how he does it but each book is unique and not tired. I guess that’s why Reacher is one of the most loved characters in action fiction.
one of Lee Child’s best
One of Reachers better adventures!
