“A rich, multilayered reading experience, and an easy recommendation for book clubs.” –Library Journal (starred review) Life comes down to a series of choices. To hold on… To let go…to forget…to forgive… Which road will you take? For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows–her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When … Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows–her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close-knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.
Jude does everything to keep her kids out of harm’s way. But senior year of high school tests them all. It’s a dangerous, explosive season of drinking, driving, parties, and kids who want to let loose. And then on a hot summer’s night, one bad decision is made. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget…or the courage to forgive.
Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex, Night Road raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.
“You cannot read Night Road and not be affected by the story and the characters. The total impact of the book will stay with you for days to come after it is finished.” —The Huffington Post

Kristin Hannah remains one of my favorite women’s fiction authors, and this novel kept me reading for hours on end. Hannah is, quite simply, the kind of writer that keeps hold of you. I never want to set her books down once I start. That’s why I save her for when I have a nice big block of time to completely immerse myself. I highly recommend any …
Another tear-jerker from this author. Loved the book.
Good drama/romance. I was more interested in the writer’s poetic use of language than anything.
One of my favorite books by Kristin. A real tear-jerker so grab your tissues.
It is a very well written book, I couldn’t put it down I read it when I was recovering from hernia surgery. Kristen Hannah is an excellent author!
I never cry, so when a book brings me to tears for several day, you know it’s good!! Love, love , LOVE this book and need a copy to reread over and over again!
This is one of the most realistic and heartbreaking stories I’ve read in a while. It is the story of 3 teenagers and a helicopter mom. Mia and Zach are twins. Zach is one of the popular kids, but his sister, Mia, lives life on the outskirts of the social ladder. Enter Lexie-neglected and abandoned foster child (and orphan) who finally finds a home …
Love all her books!
This was hard for me to read. I am a mother of 4 and had a lot of fears while they were growing up, and this book…whew…this book showcases one of my biggest fears. I had so many terrorizing moments while my babies were growing up. Shoot, I still have them now as they are making their way in life in their 20s.
Kristin Hannah sure knows how to …
Good characters smooth plotting Glad I read it
Way too dramatic and predictable for my taste.
Kristin Hannah never disappoints. This “super novel” that spans ten years brings us into the life of a perfect family until tragedy strikes. We meet Lexi who did not have the perfect family until she meets Mia Farraday and her twin brother. The Farradays become her family until one awful night and one awful bad decision. But Hannah brings the …
I will or forget this book. The story is original and authentic.
I normally love Kristen Hannah books, but I found this one kind of depressing until the end. She’s an excellent storyteller, but this was a little too emotional for me.
Can’t describe WHY it’s so good, it just is. We all experience consequences of our choices… some are more tragic than others.
This was a great book to read even for an adult. It would also be a great book for young high school adults to read also. I could hardly put the book down. I can’t wait to start the next book.
Read some time ago…time for a re-read….it’s that good! Read all of this author’s books.
All her books have rich characters.
As a mom, this was a hard story to read because I kept envisioning just how likely this scenario can be. But as a reader, Kristen Hannah had me in the first few pages so I read it cover to cover but took breaks to reflect along the journey.
Very sad but exciting book to read.
