#1 New York Times bestselling author Ken Follett takes to the skies in this classic novel of international suspense. Set in the early days of World War II, Night over Water captures the daring and desperation of ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances—in prose as compelling as history itself. . . . An easy to read enjoyable book. Ken Kollett never disappoints with his story telling. Always something to be learned.
good story line and interesting characters but not his best book…
Very well written and easy to follow. Only draw back for me is that I detest explicit sexual encounters which the author incorporates in all his books that I have read. I have read many of Follet’s books, but always hesitate to read the next for the reason stated. The story line is good enough without the “trailer trash”.
Excellent Read. Roller is one of the best.
I always enjoy a Ken Follet Novel
Great story and very well written. I love Ken Follet books!
My favorite Ken Folette Book!
This is an early Ken Follett novel, probably written while his considerable writing skills were still in the developing stage. The characters are wooden and their thoughts described as they ‘solve’ the problems they cope with on the historic transatlantic Pan Am Clipper flight are naive and shallow. The fate of the Clipper, described in fine detail in terms of layout, features, engineering and workings of the airship and its crew, is what made me keep turning the pages — not the outcome of the hopes, dreams and relationships of the characters. The somewhat steamy sex scenes onboard the flying Clipper and at certain landing zones were improbable and gratuitous.
Night Over Water is amusing. There is no tension whatsoever. This is not a thriller. I enjoyed the background chapters leading up to the flight. Those chapters helped me form a clear picture of why the characters acted as they did. I doubted the final choices of the American female business executive and the 19-year-old, upper-class British girl.
I very much enjoy Follet’s ability to create mood and urgency.
As usual, Ken Follett doesn’t disappoint. I’ve read every book written by him, now. I don’t know how I missed it previously. His characters are well developed, the story line is easy to follow, and it is a page turner. Be prepared to stay up til the wee hours!
Good read!
Enjoyable book. Excellent characters and good, although improbable, plot.
Heard of but never read any Follett novels. Descriptions of Clipper ship & how the crew worked together very interesting. Escaping from clear & present danger of Nazi threat intriguing. Character descriptions were very good though redundant. Hard to believe a dedicated crew member would not inform anyone to his plight. Unfortunately, author chose to write a porn novel. It was totally unnecessary to give graphic descriptions of the sexual romps of various characters. I was disappointed. Do not think I will try another Follett book.
Ken Follett is one of favorite authors
Absolutely the most original story I have ever read . Follett knows how to present the most unique characters and intriguing story lines.
Love anything Ken Follett writes! He brings every character to life in a way that is remembered in his wonderful, complex plots.
A couple of stories in one.
Just good read
Loved it!
