#1 New York Times bestselling author Ken Follett takes to the skies in this classic novel of international suspense. Set in the early days of World War II, Night over Water captures the daring and desperation of ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances—in prose as compelling as history itself. . . . I have read many of his books most are spy novels. This story had a different twist with many characters that were all inter related. I really liked this book!
As with all Follett books, it is a taut, well-crafted page-turner. Excellent characterizations and attention to detail.
A little slow in the beginning but captures your attention and keeps it once you get deeper.
This is an entertaining period piece with romance, intrigue, improbable coincidences etc typical of Follet. I loved the details about luxury air travel and life in Europe just prior to WWII. I’ve read many of Follet’s books and I enjoyed this one more than most, which is high praise. (Only his “cathedral” novels are better, IMHO).
Not impressed. Several storylines were introduced, but the follow through was poor. Would not recommend.
Great read about pre-war transatlantic air travel. Full of twists and turns.
Second time around and still enjoyed it.
I REALLY LIKED IT; ENJOYED EVERY PAGE OF IT.
Follett at his best. You won’t be disappointed with this one.
Love all his books—especially those set in the period around WWII. This was no exception. He is a great writer—as a former journalist, I love the way words are put together, and I think Follett is a wordmaster. There are only a few I have not read.
Classic Follett. Good read.
Page turner while realistically dealing with the history of the time.
The plane itself is the most interesting character. The backstories were interesting as well. However, the ending was a disappointment as the author tied up (and together) the various story lines unbelievably.
I learned a lot about the first (and only?) flying boat. Well-written, kept the pages turning.
i love all ken folletts books. great read
I liked that is was a period piece with a look into the history of the Clipper planes.
great original plot
Although fairly predictable, it was a fast read and entertaining.
Not as good as the usual Follet
Being a retired airline person, I enjoyed the details of the PanAm Clipper. Way before my time, but seemed like an interesting way to travel.
