Not as good as his previous but enjoyable
I bought and read this book a number of years ago. It was to the regular standard of the author. Interesting, intertaining and fast paced like all his other books. Not for the serious minded, unless they are looking for entertainment.
A terrific tale with great historical background and information on the Pan Am Seaplane fleet. Good characters, a good plot and a surprising ending.
A wonderful adventure story. As usual, Follett writes an interesting book with fascinating history woven through it.
I didn’t care for this book by Follett. I didn’t finish it.
I like Ken’s books but this wasn’t his best
I’m a big Follett fan but was vaguely dissatisfied with this effort, seemed almost amateurish compared to other books. Something about the characters that didn’t quite ring true. Nonetheless, it was a good plot and an easy read to just kill time.
A different look at how history may have been shaped.
Great book, kept you in suspense all the way thru to the end. Recommend it.
I love when history is blended with good fiction. Unusual subject matter with several twists to the plot.
I just loved being immersed in Night Over Water by Ken Follett. The setting is on a last flight of an actual plane, imagined, just at the beginning of WWII. The characters were great. The love story was exciting and had you worrying just enough with the ins and outs of the plot. And the plot kept changing and keeping this mystery reader on her toes. Just a delight to read. Thank you Ken Follett for doing it once again!!!
Enjoyed this book. Story line was good and I learned things about the Pan Am Clipper
Fabulous!!!!!!!
Ken Follett is a master storyteller. Every one of his books is very good. My all-time favorite is Eye of the Needle. This particular book is pretty short by his usual standards, but one u would surely enjoy.
I’ve read other Follett books, and this was not my favorite. It was to easy to figure out what was going to happen. It was entertaining to read for the most part, but again not one of Follett’s best.
I usually find Mr. Follett’s books to be very engaging. This one did not disappoint. I knew nothing about the luxury liner seaplanes that crossed the Atlantic before the outbreak of WWII. Like Steve Berry, Ken Follett always offers something new to learn or consider from history!
If someone besides Ken Follett had written this book, I might have given it another star but an author of his caliber, can do lots better.
Having said that, I found the book interesting as it describes the actual inside of the China Clipper. The landing and take offs were also described in considerable detail. Those sections were of particular interest as I knew one of the original pilots of this air craft.
I do recommend the book as the history of the China Clipper is little known by most people. It was an amazing plane and part of our history as PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT AND WINSTON CHURCHILL had a meeting off the coast of Newfoundland prior to the US entering WWII on a China Clipper.
Awesome book based on history
Life onboard the Clipper was fascinating. The ending was surprising.
NIce blending of true facts and fiction — Follett breathes life into each of the main characters to show who they are and why they are on the plane, and how they interact and relate (or not) with others. The way he has backgrounded and plotted the characters and their part in this Night Over Water is sort of akin to an aerial version of “Ship of Fools”. I found it most enjoyable, a good read.
