Kiara Arrio is on the run and dying when four tall, dark, and gorgeous strangers find her in a crumpled heap along the road to the hospital she was desperately trying to reach. The small herd of stag shifters are immediately drawn to the injured woman, taking over her care as she recovers from her illness. They’re entranced by Kiara’s strength, her sass, and her sweetness, and do their best to woo … best to woo her, hoping to claim her for their own.
There’s just one problem: Kiara already has a mate. And she certainly didn’t run away from one only to find herself with four more.

Night of the Wild Stags is a steamy standalone shifter romance, HEA guaranteed, set in Golden Angel’s Big Bad Bunnies world. It is not part of the BBB main storyline and it is not necessary to read the BBB series in order to read this book.

Watch out for the teeth
What are the benefits of RH? In this case, four gorgeous guys, a dominant, an intuitive, a comedian, and a sensitive who focus all of their attention and emotions on that one woman who calls to their hearts. I think the author really outdid herself with this book. She brought us an entirely new group of people to fall in love with within her Big Bad Bunny world. She really embraced the spirit of the night of the RH challenge and paired it perfectly with some of our favorite characters. I loved watching these five find their HEA and getting to watch as the tiny deer community were able to escape from their self-imposed confinement. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I absolutely love how the author has created a group of untraditional shifter characters. Having read several of her books, all I can say is Read Them! The story is steamy, sweet and funny with strong characters in a well written book.
Kiara Arrio has reached her end. Kiara is a Pudu deer shifter. Her herd has very few men and she must share her mate with many other women. This seems to work for the other women but Kiara wants more. She wants romance, love but when she tells her mate this he becomes angry and violent so Kiara strikes out on her own. On the run from her own herd, she picks up a sickness common among small shifters. Now, she is sick, she is dying. Her only hope is to make it to Lakewood where there is a rumored cure. On their vacation, the Walker stags spot Kiara’s collapsed body beside the road. Rescuing her and getting her to the hospital, the Walkers; Alec his older brother Riley and their cousins, identical twins Gavin and Dorian are immediately drawn to the injured doe. After she is released from the hospital they take over her care. Their stags recognize her as their mate. Kiara just ran from one mate, the last thing she’s looking for are four new ones.
Standalone Romance. Set in the Big Bad Bunnies world. While it is standalone, I recommend reading after the Big Bad Bunnies series.
Kiara Arrio is desperate to make it to the Lakewood community so that she might survive the disease that is slowly killing her. When the Walker family finds a woman with signs of the Scourge, they immediately know they must take her to their community to find a cure. Alec, Riley, Gavin and Dorian each feel a connection to the small doe, but they don’t want to scare her away. Kiara agrees to go with the stags on their vacation, because she feels safe with them.
If you’re looking for a fun romp with unusual shifters, this is the book for you!
I really enjoyed this world and would definitely like to read more. The descriptions of their deers were great and I could picture it before me even never hearing of a “pendeer”? before. The girl was shy but came out of her shell quickly. There were quite some lovely steamy scenes. More please! Really enjoyed it all even getting a resolution on her originial camp. I liked her writing and the narrator, Roxanne Hill, did a fantastic job going at a great pace and making sure everything was clear and the voices were distinct. Thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end!
I really enjoyed this book 🙂 -it’s R/H, and I found the characters to be well-written and engaging- I couldn’t put the book down 🙂
Outstanding charactors, wonderful story, fantastic plot! Full of danger, drama, mayhem, fun, adventure, and hot sexy guys! Fighting for her life, desperate to escape her ex, struggling to reach safety, and not ready to die, she refuses to give up. She is rescued by four hot shifters, who will protect her with their lives, she finds out the truth about mates, and discovers love. Finding her true mates and true love fills up all the empty parts of her life.
A highly enjoyable take on both shifters and reverse harems
As I’m relatively new to this author, I haven’t read any of the Big Bad Bunnies series (just the name makes me want to read it, though!) and I thought the author did a nice job of covering the information needed to set this story in that world while still making it work as a standalone. Though I didn’t feel I was missing out on anything starting here, I was intrigued by what I saw of the other characters, so I will be going back to read those earlier books.
I loved the world-building here; lots of layers gave it a nice complexity and added levels of interest to what could have been a standard shifter story. One of the things I like best about shifter stories is how the animal within affects the human’s behavior (both instincts and cultural) and vice versa. With hybrid shifters, there’s not only one animal’s behavior to consider, but two or possibly more. And the set-up means that extraordinarily diverse mixes could come about in a way that would be a stretch to believe as the results of a normal pairing. All of which gives the potential for some interesting situations.
The author uses that setup to good effect both in original character development and to show some nice growth in Kiara throughout the story, changes due not only to her animal, but also to the new environment she finds herself in. I thought using deer shifters and herd behavior to explain the reverse haram was brilliant. I haven’t read many reverse harem stories before, but the character differences between the four guys were clearly carefully thought out and they balanced each other in ways that seemed not only reasonable but required for the relationship to work.
Interesting characters, an intriguing, well-thought out setup for both the overall world and individual storyline, along with plenty of humor and heat made this a highly enjoyable take not only on shifters, but on reverse harems. 5 stars

Reverse harem books are becoming very popular lately, and I’m all good with that, especially when they are as good as Golden Angel’s book. I really need to have more of this group. They are totally awesome together, and Kiara is an incredibly strong woman. The book does take place in the Big Bad Bunny world, but it is a standalone even though you are going to get some connection to the rest of the series. You don’t have to have read them to know what’s going on.
Kiara is a Pudu deer shifter. Pudu deer are the smallest deer species in the world. They are about the size of lamb when they are fully grown. Kiara is on the run from her herd and a male who says that she’s his mate. She has to share him with other women in her herd and he visits her one day a week. She hates that and she wants more. So she runs away. While she’s on the run, she gets very sick with an illness that is serious for small shifters like Pudu deer. All she knows is that she has to get to Lakewood so that she can get a cure.
Alec, Riley, Dorian, and Gavin are two pairs of brothers who are also cousins. They are also deer shifters. But instead of being tiny deer like Pudu deer, they are red deer. Red deer are pretty much the largest deer species. The 4 guys are their own small herd. They are tight. When they are headed for vacation and find Kiara laying on the side of the road, they pick her up and turn around to take her back to Lakewood. All 4 of them are drawn to her and want to keep her safe and protected.
I love Kiara’s guys. I love Kiara. She blooms during this book. That’s always awesome to watch. Like I said, I need more of these guys because they are pretty freaking awesome together. I want to see what happens with Kiara as she learns more about everything in the world.
A deer shifter? Seriously? Aren’t they more prey than paranormal bad asses? But Kiara has more problems than being a tiny Pudu deer shifter. She’s on the run from her own kind, headed for Lakewood where she desperately hopes she’ll find help. She’s so small, fragile. She doesn’t make it far before collapsing. Dorian, Gavin, Alec, and Riley Walker are red deer shifters, soldiers at the Lakewood compound, headed for a well-deserved vacation, when Dorian’s sharp eyes see a flash of brown and white on the edge of the road. It may be nothing, but his intuition tells him otherwise. Warning his brother and cousins to stay put, Dorian’s horrified to see a tiny little woman, covered in way too many clothes for the hot temperatures. Worse, she has all the outward signs of the Scourge, a unique shifter disease. It’s 100% fatal to smaller shifter breeds. This is so much more than a stranded shifter. As the Walkers rush Kiara to Lakewood, she only has one chance. Her life’s at stake. Only one thing will save her…an experimental serum created by an infamous doctor whose work borders on the unethical and craziness. But Kiara’s dying. Is there really a choice? The Walker men aren’t about to let her die! All of them feel the irresistible attraction to her. They may not understand it, but they’re convinced she’s their mate. Little does anyone realize just how much the lifesaving serum will affect their lives! The serum changes Kiara. She may no longer be the helpless, fragile creature the Walkers first discovered. As she slowly recovers, the Walkers take her in. What happens when a fragile Pudu deer shifter’s nature changes, when she comes face-to-face with red deer shifters more than twice her size, and they think she’s their mate? Interesting question! But Kiara hasn’t been honest with the Walkers about what pushed her past her limits and why she ended up on that highway. That’s about to catch up to her, jeopardizing not just her life but the future of the Walkers, their entire community, and even Kiara’s former Pudu clan. Can Kiara’s newfound mutated strength make any difference? Just how committed are the Walkers to Kiara? Can a tiny Kudu deer shifter truly be the fated mate of not just one, but four, deer shifters? And what about Kiara’s secrets? Will they tear these five apart? So much uncertainty surrounds them. Nothing is clear, and everything’s at risk for so very many. Ultimately, Kiara, the Walkers, and their community will have to set aside a lifetime of prejudice and preconceptions. If they can’t, there won’t be a future for any of them!
Golden Angel has created a very unique and special story. The reverse harem subgenre is very popular right now. You might think that each one is so similar to the others that they’d be repetitive and boring. Nothing could be further from the truth. Each one has been excellent. But this one has Golden Angel written all over it. Most shapeshifter stories, reverse harem or not, focus on bigger animals (dragons, wolves, bears, lions, and other large cats). Golden Angel takes on the task of making smaller shifters just as important and every bit as dangerous as the larger shifters. That’s one of the hooks that makes this book captivating! You might think the storyline would be weak based on that one fact. And you would be VERY wrong. Kiara is initially very hesitant, totally unsure of herself, and very tentative. She knows nothing of the world except her isolated community. She’s not just small. She’s naïve, inexperienced, and totally clueless in many ways. But she’s not a doormat! She gives as good as she gets from anyone. Dorian, Gavin, Alec, and Riley are dominant, of course. But they’re not overwhelming. And they’re each unique. They’re definitely not a “one size fits all” group of shifters. Dorian’s the leader. Gavin and Alec are childlike pranksters. Riley’s quiet and intellectual. Yes, they’re all dominant. But, more importantly, they’re family. The sense of love and community within their family and the extended shifter community around them is extraordinary and all-encompassing. Golden Angel’s written a story that’s absolutely riveting, and I adored it! This book is a truly unique take on the paranormal world of shapeshifters. I can’t give Night of the Wild Stags anything less than five stars! Thank you, Golden Angel, for creating an exceptional story that captivates and enthralls!
One final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
This book takes place in the world of Big Bad Bunnies, but you can read it as a standalone. I haven’t read the other books and had no trouble following the story. I will be reading the other books though, because I really enjoyed this book.
I liked how the author took the time to flesh out the different characters, so you are being introduced to four individual guys. And also gave Kiara time with each of them.
Kiara was a great character. Strong, sassy and it was wonderful to see how her confidence grew being with the guys.
And I loved how the animals spoke in the story and gave their opinion. It made me giggle a few times.
Change is good
This one is different as it focuses on a herd dynamics but it’s still filled with a female finding her own. It continues the overall ARC with characters from previous books as it introduces our new female to her mates.
An enjoyable, quick listen for those who love paranormal and reverse harem books. I really liked the twist of such a tiny deer having the ability to give a mating bite and the self confidence that was building throughout the story.
What a good story to introduce you to the Big Bad Bunnies world and this will be the road I want to follow to read about unusual shifters. I liked the difference in the males, the sass and courage of the female and the delicious steam. Goooooood!
A Great Shifter Story & SmokingHotRomance!
Night of the Wild Stags: A Reverse Harem Romance
By: Golden Angel
Narrated by: Roxanne Hill
I loved this fast paced story, it is original, well written and engrossed me from start to end. Golden Angel creates a fascinating & imaginative paranormal world. The storylines and characters are interesting and well developed. The characters are shifters, not your usual shifter either, these shifters are from different animal breeds and mostly live amongst their own. The lead female, Kiara, is a miniature Pudu Deer Shifter. She is unhappy with her mate and living arrangement and leaves her home. While on the road she becomes ill and is found on the side of the road by a herd of 4 Stag shifters, Alec, Dorian, Gavin and Riley. They rescue her and take her to Lakewood, a treatment center. They soon realize Kiara is their mate. Kiara is treated and cured but the cure changed her genetics a bit adding another animal in to her DNA, a jaguar. Once on the mend Kiara is released in to the care of the 4 hot stags. She is naive and has a lot to learn about shifter life, it is different than what she was told. She learns more about herself and a bond starts to form with each of the deer shifter. I loved that each had their own personality and how they took Kiara in with care. The chemistry between them was smoking hot. Thank you Golden Angel for this wonderful and entertaining story, I am looking forward to checking out your “Big Bad Bunnies” series.
I listened to the Audible edition, Roxanne Hill is a terrific narrator and storyteller. She performed the voices of all the characters, gave each their own unique sound and added the right amount of dramatic flair to the story to entertain the listener. Thanks for the great listen.
Thank you AudiobookObsession
