Doc Ford has his share of secrets. One of them has returned with a vengeance in this deadly New York Times bestseller from Randy Wayne White. While trying to solve one of Florida’s most profound mysteries, Doc Ford is the target of a murder attempt by someone who wants to make it look like an accident. Or is the target actually his friend Tomlinson? Whatever the answer, the liveaboards and fishing … the liveaboards and fishing guides at Dinkin’s Bay on Sanibel Island are becoming increasingly nervous—and wary—after a plane crash and other near-death incidents make it apparent that Ford and Tomlinson are dangerous companions.
What their small family of friends doesn’t know is that their secret pasts make it impossible for them to seek help from the law. There is an assassin on the loose, and it is up to Doc and Tomlinson to find a killer before the grisly job is done.

Doc Ford still has some surprise moves. You never know for sure who it is that you’re talking to.
Great play on this little world inside of Florida
One of my favorite authors. I have read all of his books.
I absolutely love this book and it’s fantastic, lovable characters. Randy Wayne White has hit the ball out of the park with this series. Start With book one in the series and enjoy!
Randy Wayne White always delivers with his Doc Ford series in familiar locales in Florida, all of which I have visited.
I grew up in this area of Florida and enjoyed reading about it and the mystery surrounding some of the characters.
Randy Whites books are always page turners and this one is no exception!
More great writing from a long time favorite author.
It’s not my favorite Doc Ford book. The Doc was off his game on this one. I liked all the rest of his books.
Another great tale from Randy Wayne White. Once again Doc and Tomblinson find themselves wrapped up in a tale of mystism and intrigue. In the end, they solve one mystery but not the one they thought they were.
I always enjoy a new Randy Wayne White book. Never disappoints.
I have read all his works – great author
Have read many of his books. This is the only one to disappoint me. Just didn’t go anywhere and the end was weak
The author twines a very interesting story about an intriguing Florida local. His plots are tightly woven, his characters and historical snippets make for a great story.
