A New Translation From The French By Marion WieselNight is Elie Wiesel’s masterpiece, a candid, horrific, and deeply poignant autobiographical account of his survival as a teenager in the Nazi death camps. This new translation by Marion Wiesel, Elie’s wife and frequent translator, presents this seminal memoir in the language and spirit truest to the author’s original intent. And in a substantive … intent. And in a substantive new preface, Elie reflects on the enduring importance of Night and his lifelong, passionate dedication to ensuring that the world never forgets man’s capacity for inhumanity to man.
Night offers much more than a litany of the daily terrors, everyday perversions, and rampant sadism at Auschwitz and Buchenwald; it also eloquently addresses many of the philosophical as well as personal questions implicit in any serious consideration of what the Holocaust was, what it meant, and what its legacy is and will be.

Excellent portral of a very tragic time in history.
In the top five books of my life..
This book and Viktor Frankl’s, Man’s Search for Meaning, are two must-reads for those who want to be educated in the Holocaust and its effect on humanity.
I had thought nothing about the Holocaust could surprise me anymore. I was wrong.
Highly recommended. Even if you have read many histories and first-person survivor accounts of the Holocaust, this is a classic and one of the best. Without being melodramatic or preachy, in simple language Wiesel describes his unimaginable journey into hell. The horror unfolds slowly but inevitably, leaving the reader with indelible memories …
Night is a must read for everyone, it’s Eli Weisel’s personal account of his family during the holocaust!
I enjoyed reading this book
This book is from a point of view of how the holocaust was to them. It has some violence and sex aspects, but not to much description for a teen to read. It helps teach kids about the holocaust what history books can’t tell them, so you can see what this person must have went thru to survive.
A MUST read for everyone.
Very glad I read this.
It is an extremely well done, detailed first hand account of what happened at Auschwitz where people were reduced to their absolute most basic needs.
In high school, I always had trouble reading the books assigned…never finished any of them. Except Night. It was a hard read, as were all the others assigned (at least for me), but I was determined to finish it. It is a story that needs to be remembered so that what happened to Elie Wiesel and millions of others will never happen again.
A book everyone should read. Despite the horrors described, the author gave a good sense of what Holocaust victims endured plus what it took to survive.
I couldn’t get into this book. I didn’t finish it. I bought it because of Mr. Weisel’s reputation, but it just wasn’t my kind of book.
Excellent read
This book gives another light to the horrors that people face during the Holocaust. I read the whole book In one night. So many tears.
On a tour of Eastern Europe, my wife and I toured Auzwitz in Poland, which makes a lasting impression that you will never forget. This book is about a young Jewish boy and his family who are shipped there by the Nazis and what happened to them.
It’s a fast read, but that does not diminish it in any way. It’s a heart-breaking account of the Holocaust from a survivor’s perspective.
The top Holocaust book ever.
Ellie Weisel wrires evocatively about his experience in the Nazi concentration camps. I’ve read this book twice and it brings tears each time. If you want a realistic account of this wretched experience in a camp, this is THE book to read. You will be filled with horror at how humans can treat others, and with a deeper undersranding of how some …
