This series really makes you think what it would be like if you lost all the modern technology! Very original!
Very thought provoking. Everyone should read this book. It really makes one think of the way they might react to a sudden electronic collapse.
Having lived in a family where a schizophrenic son was a constant source of stress and often anxiety, this book was written in a wonderfully personal way that aroused sympathy as well as being able to relate to this mother’s wonderful patience and empathy with her child’s illness.
Great read
Really enjoyed this book!
Really leaves you thinking…
This is the continuing saga of the Branning family dealing with a nation-wide power outage. The neighbors in their suburb have figured out what to do with garbage, raise food, even find water. But what about apartment dwellers not that far away? Especially one with only four children fending for themselves?
And what about a wedding that’s nearing and no groom, until he shows up out of the blue? But are they right for each other? And what about the children’s mother? What’s happened to her?
Night Light has a great Reading Group Guide.
This might be a strange time to be reading these dystopian books, in the middle of the Covoid-19 worries and right after so much of Iowa was devastated by a derecho storm, but I’m glad there’s one more book in the Restoration trilogy. I know there’s redemption ahead.
This second book in the restoration series continues with more crises and more evil. Instead of helping each other, many out of desperation or just pure evil continue in stealing, murdering, kidnapping and selfishness. The Branning family are the exception along with some of their neighbors and church members who go about trying to help those less fortunate. They take in four children left alone in a filthy apartment that were caught stealing from them. From age three to age nine, they were barely surviving. Their oldest daughter Deni is also trying to decide if she should marry Craig who seems indifferent to her situation. Their faith is put to one of the hardest tests in the circumstances surrounding them.
Ready to read book three now, True Light.
This is a borrowed library book. I was not required to write a review.
I loved the whole series. So realistic, this could actually happen. A good Christian read. Terri Blackstock is my favorite author. Just wish her books were a little less pricey.
Fabulous series about what can happen to society when all the conveniences we know go out. The effects the outage causes on society are quite real in the sense of unknown. Just like in real life, we encounter shallow people who would rather steal and fight than work for their own. It makes you wonder how the Amish do it, and will give you greater respect for their lifestyle.
Great Book!! Hard to put down!! you will want the whole series!!!!
Awesome story!
2nd book in the series and the story continues to be really great
Great read!
I love Terri Blackstock. This book is one of a series and I have read all of the books in the series and I would highly recommend reading the entire series as this is a good insight of what we might face in this crazy world.
I highly recommend that you read all three books in this series. You will find yourself caught up in the drama that unfolds. Outstanding writing!
In the second book set in a world were modern technology has died, the Branning family tries to help four kids who have been abandoned by their mother. Can they provide for four extra mouths? Where is the mother? The mystery isn’t that strong, but watching the characters deal with their situation kept me turning the pages.
I LOVED this book! Definitely a page turner and really makes one think about the “what ifs”! One of my favorite authors and definitely one of my favorite books she’s written. Highly recommended.
Interesting concept. Well-crafted tale with lots of twists and turns.
The premise of this book set in America where all modern conveniences are wiped out keeps the reader turning pages to see what happens next. I am looking forward to the next installment!
