This was not as intense as other Annabelle Winters’ other story, but it is just a passionate.
Dr. Cain coping with the lost if his daughter her only had for 6 months determined to take down her killer. Nurse Coco has the empathy and compassion he needs to help him stop before he makes a mistake.
This story takes a unique turn as the are detained by the FBI then released to help them.

The insta attraction between Dr. Cain and Nurse Coco was off the charts. The sub plot mixed in with their romance was intriguing and interesting. Wonderful HEA and I highly recommend.

** 3.5 Stars **
With the ER being short-staffed on New Year’s Eve, Corrina (“Coco”) graciously agrees to work the night shift rather than go out and enjoy herself with her friends as she had planned. She takes her job seriously and knows she can be of more help at work. She sees a new doctor in the ER who looks intently at her, as if he needs something.
Dr. Cain had just transferred to the hospital. He is still grieving the death of his daughter, even though she died 10 years ago. He is also planning to seek revenge for her death – but after all these years, is it against a real person or a phantom he has conjured up to distract his grieving, fractured mind?
When he sees Corrina for the first time in his ER, Cain is totally distracted and even willing to put aside his thoughts of revenge. Cain has a reputation of being rude to people, but she turns his barbs around on him and doesn’t let it get to her. Taking her off to a secluded area in the hospital, Cain starts irrationally talking about things that make no sense to Corrina, but she seemed able to calm him. He has strong feelings toward her already, and she could help him have hope again. Will she turn his life around? Will they find a HEA together?
This is a sort of odd story that can be difficult to follow. I didn’t think the story line made much sense from the start but, even accepting that, the characters didn’t draw me in either. I guess I was concentrating more on whether Cain was hallucinating the whole thing. Even the talk about Maggie’s adoption was confusing. Grab your copy and see if Corrina was able to bring Cain back out of his need for vengeance and help him understand his own confusion so he can begin to live a normal life.
Got to love these insta-lust-to-love short and steamy stories!
Corrina, also known as Nurse Coco, works in the ER of a hospital. She is called in to work on the New Year’s Eve shift although she planned to go out with friends, wearing the sweetest “little” black dress on her very curvy figure. Not to be outdone she decides to wear it under her scrubs. What the hey. She can pretend she wore it for her future husband. Can’t she?
Dr. Cain has an ulterior motive for working at this particular hospital so he doesn’t care how he treats patients or staff, garnering him the nickname, “A$$hole.” But one look at the lusciously curved Nurse Coco causes him to adjust his plans and other things…
I loved this sweet and steamy short book! Ms. Winters even makes fun of the genre, “Does that s**t even happen in romance novels anymore?! Maybe in that insta-love trash all the nurses read in the breakroom…” So funny! Nurse Coco and Dr. Cain get their HEA in more ways than one. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout and it comes highly recommended for readers who like short, steamy stories with appealing characters and a bit of a mystery.
Insta-love at its best. Coco is an ER nurse who gets called in to work on New Years Eve. Cain is a doctor on a private mission. When Cain sees Coco, he is instantly smitten. I enjoyed this book with its insta-love, drama, action, mystery and heat.

Coco gets called into the late shift at the last minute on New Years Eve. She meets the new doctor who just transferred to her hospital. Cain looks at Coco as if he’s just seen the best thing in his life. There are some issues that Cain has to work through and with Coco’s help she seems to bring him out of his sadness and loss of his daughter from years earlier. I enjoyed this story every much. The characters were great together and Coco seems to bring Dr. Cain out of his deranged reasoning. He finally has something else to focus his love and attention on. A great New Year’s Eve story. I did enjoy this book, and while not overly dark, it was darker than I’m used to. Caine is a doctor on the edge. After 10 years of plotting and planning the death of another doctor, one responsible for the death of his daughter, Cain finds himself finally poised for the final strike. Coco is an ER nurse, working in the same hospital as Cain, and where the murderous other doctor is being held by the FBI. Coco is able to bring Cain back out of the darkness that has consumed him.
This book is well written, the characters exhibiting a surprising depth. I enjoyed this book, and would recommend it. I simply would like the blurb to be a little more clear about the nature of the book, not just one sentence saying “Sweetness and darkness like always.”

I enjoyed this book. It was everything that I know to expect from this author but it was also a bit more, which was a nice surprise. I thought that Cain and Corrina had some complexity to them and I liked them. Even though this was an OTT insta-love read I found the story interesting. Of course there is plenty of intense emotions and lots of sizzling heat as Corrina and Cain’s story unfolds.
Really different and exciting!
Ms. Winters has really gone outside of her usual story with this one. We still have Corrine, our nurse heroine, and Cain, our doctor (hero?). When she is called in for the late shift at the last minute she goes. She has never met him before, but when she does he falls madly in love with her. The rest of the story is part real and part supernatural with a very real ending. Great characters, a lot of creativity via her great writing, and an absolutely “spellbinding” read!

Good romance which seems hesitated between several styles
3.5
Good romance that oscillates between thriller, madness, romance.
The hero’s instalove, Doctor Cain adds to this vague, unstable side. He comes to kill the man who killed his little girl 10 years ago and he stops, caught up in his attraction to nurse Corina. Between this attraction, and Corina’s compassion, Cain doubts and he thinks that maybe he’s the madman and that he had imagined all this to flee the death of his daughter.
Beyond this rather thriller story, the story between Corina and Cain, even if it’s fast at first, is especially very hot.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Corrine is an ER nurse that is called in to work because they are short staffed. While working She runs into Cain. The Doctor everyone calls “Dr Asshole” because he is very straight forward. Cain damn near loses his mind when he sees this beautiful woman in front of him. Cain as a very dark past he has been trying to take care of. He starts talking about crazy stuff after he took Corrine to a secluded area of the hospital. He was right about everything he thought about his past. He confessed his love to her right then and there. She was able to help him from having a black heart to seeing the light that now shines. It was a good story.

Whoa
Im not sure if intense is the right word to describe Cain and Cocos insta-love. What is more than intense?
Whatever that word is, their story is that!
Annabelle is starting off the new year as only she can, with a hotter than fire insta-love with all the fun naughty bits.
I would recommend.
Happy reading!

Hippocratic oath is important to Nurse Coco. She called in late shift at the last minute for New Year’s Eve. After changing her mind and all second-guessing about going, she decides to go in anyway to her shift. Once there she meets the new doctor. Cain is his name. With this meeting nurse Coco he falls madly in love with her falls out of breath. And then he kinda kidnapped her. He’s trying to prove a point because he’s hurting inside and he’s waiting for New Year’s to become a beginning or end to his misery. There’s Nurse Coco to the rescue. Very good book that is intense as some places and very easy to have empathy for others. Good read.

I received a free copy of the steamy novella Night Before New Year’s: Curvy for the Holidays book 3 by Annabelle Winters and this review was given freely.
Twisted and ironic with a happy ending. This is a dark and passion filled short story of regret, vengeance, healing and love one New Years Eve in the ER.
A 10 year quest and a staffing shortage place Doctor Cain in the same ER as his fated mate nurse Corinna “Coco” and the potential hideout of the doctor that killed Caine’s daughter.
An interesting read based around a curvy nurse putting her job before her own happiness. New years eve brings more than the usual chaos in the shape of Doctor Cain. Drama, sorrow, insta lust to love. A great holiday read
This was an interesting read. Parts of the story felt very odd to me. It was well written, just hard for me to connect and get immersed in the story.
Corrina (Coco) is an ER nurse and gets called in to work the night shift on New Years Eve. When she gets to the hospital, she sees the mysterious new doctor looking at her like he wants something from her. Cain is the new doctor that just transferred to the hospital. He is not expecting and isn’t prepared for meeting Coco.
There are some issues that Cain has to work through and Coco helps. Angst, sadness, romance, this story has a lot going on. I had a hard time with it, but I still think you should give it a try.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Corrina, or Coco, is a nurse, and she decided to take the New Year’s eve shift.
She had no idea what was in store for her.
Cain was still in pain for losing his little girl 10 years ago.
Will his pain make him miss a chance at love w/ Corrina ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I worked as an ER nurse for almost 20 years and I always enjoy reading stories that have nurses in them. Good read and romance.

This was one of the more interesting Winter’s insta-love books that I have read. The hero character, Cain, was in a state of constant grief and in revenge mode. The background describing his behaviors and emotions was wonderfully developed. Corrina, aka Nurse Coco, was a contrasting bright, positive, empathetic, nurturing heroine. The emotional connection between them was fabulous.
Cain, Dr. A$$hol€, is grieving the death of his little girl, Maggie, 10 years esrlier. He believes it was basically a murder situation and he is after the doctor that ‘killed’ her. Corrina happens to be a nurse on the New Year’s shift the catches his eye. He drags her to some empty hallway rambling about Dr. Death. Corrina is quite perplexed, but intregued not only by his story, but also her body’s reaction to this man.
As Corrina conjols Cain, he begins to question his own reasoning. Is it really possible he made the whole thing up to try and cope with Maggie’s death. Feeling a sense of release wash over him, he focuses solely on his attraction to this angel in front of him. Then, suddenly, they are thrust back into what Corrina is convinced is Cain’s imagination. But is it really?
So, is Cain searching for a real Dr. Death? Someone responsible for Maggie’s death. Or is he simply a grieving father struggling to see the light? This book will divulge all, and SOOOO much more!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest, unbias review.
