With barely enough time to recover from helping out Miles in London, Nico is off to Australia … and a secret mission involving a US covert operative … to make this trip in the first place, preferring to communicate her polarizing messages through writing her books now. But, bowing under pressure, she finally arrives in Australia, only to be attacked within minutes of reaching her hotel room for the night. After her rescue, she’s forced to dig deep into her family and public life to find the mastermind kidnapper and to stay safe as the bodies pile up.
Nothing makes sense in this twisted mission, but Nico is determined to keep Charlotte safe, even as things take a more personal turn …

This is a page-turner with non-stop action and a lot of suspense. Dale Mayer is very skillful in creating complex, unique plots.
In this book, Charlotte has been kidnapped and Nico is hired to find her. Afterwards, they need to find out who wants Charlotte dead and why. Ms. Mayer keeps the reader guessing throughout the entire book, with lots of twists and turns, until the last chapter.
Charlotte and Nico are both strong and independent characters. They work very well together and highly respect each other’s opinion. I enjoy the way they have the ability to bounce ideas off of each other to find answers.
This book is a page-turner that will appeal to anyone who loves intrigue and action with a little bit of romance.
Another exciting adventure for The Mavericks team.
This story focuses on a young activist kidnapped in Australia right before her big speech. An intriguing puzzle as to who is responsible for Charlotte’s abduction and what they planned to do with her. I enjoyed how Nico and Keane figured out where Charlotte was being held and Nico’s method of containing one of the kidnappers and how he systematically analyzes the clues.
This is a heartwarming story with a zing! It has suspense, danger and the underlying sexual attraction between Nico and Charlotte while the mysterious search for the culprits takes front and center.
I love the storyline about Charlotte’s adoption and her satisfying resolution. A great, fast-paced story and one you will surely enjoy!
Nico and Keane are sent to Australia to rescue Charlotte who has been kidnapped. The rescue is the easy part, however, after an uncomfortable trip home the hard part starts. It’s a major quandary solving who is responsible. It’s another surprise ending.
Nico is sent in to rescue Charlotte, who was taken either because of her advocacy views or because of a undercover sibling. This story takes us across the ocean as we learn the truth behind Charlotte’s story. A very captivating, interesting book with larger than life men and women who catch our attention instantly.

This author always writes solid romantic suspense drama, that have great engaging characters with hot passion between them, and this is no exception. I stayed up late reading as I could not put it down. I am loving this series! This is the eighth book in this series but can be read as a standalone! This book has everything! It had intrigue, drama, suspense and is action packed! It has some great steam to it too! The plot was well-planned and kept the reader reading. I loved this one, and consider it a 5 star + read. This is a well written story which is action packed, and filled with danger, suspense, twists, turns, and love. I cannot wait to read more from this author. I definitely recommend reading this book and series! Happy reading everyone!!
Nico is next up with the Mavericks! Just back from London, he’s off to Oz to rescue Charlotte an Environmentalist and Author. Charlotte didn’t want to go, but her Assistant said she was committed, even though Charlotte had stepped back from these protests. But she doesn’t make it, out of her hotel. Her brother thinks it’s because of his deep under cover work. Nico doesn’t know, as there are so many ways and reasons this could have happened. Charlotte has made plenty of people angry over the years. All Charlotte wants is to stay home and write her books! There are a lot of twists and turns in this story, and secrets revealed! Mavericks for the win again!
As seems to be usual, Nico gets called for a job not long after the last one was completed. Charlotte Ankerby, an anthropologist and an activist for indigenous people around the world, has gone missing. In Australia to give the keynote speech at a rally she’s disappeared without a trace. The problem is they don’t know if it’s because of her undercover brother, or her own activities.
Nico’s partner is Keane, and they begin with investigating the hotel. Something tells them she isn’t far, they just have to figure out where. They figure laundry was the way and decide to question the folks down there. What they find is much more than just laundry.
This is only the beginning as they end up with far more questions than answers. Even once they get Charlotte home, there’s much to figure out.
Lot’s of suspense and intrigue, a family reunion and a simmer to sizzle romance that I love so much!
I am always amazed by Dale Mayer. Nico is a wonderful addition to a phenomenal series. I love the action, the loyalty and falling in love. A beautiful journey all will love.
This is another exciting and entertaining entry in this enjoyable series. Nico and Charlotte’s story is high energy and action packed. The story offers up a compelling blend of drama, emotion, danger, suspense, mystery and heat. One terrific thrill ride. This is my truthful, elective review.
Nico Stratus is up for his turn to lead a mission. He meets up with Keane in Australia, and they are tasked with finding an American, Charlotte Ankerby, who was kidnapped from her hotel on the night of her arrival. Through their diligent efforts, they are able to find and rescue Charlotte, and get her back home. However, the motive for her kidnapping is still not known so there is still work to be done. During this process, there is an attraction between Nico and Charlotte that grows the more they are together. This is one of those stories that will keep you guessing as to the motive and who is behind the kidnapping until the end when things quickly get revealed.
Charlotte gets kidnapped in Australia and Nick flies for 20 hours to rescue her. No one can figure out why she was abducted. They safely fly back to the States and try to solve this puzzle. One by one reasons are ruled out. Charlotte feels she will have to go into hiding for weeks, months or years.
Another good book by Dale Mayer.

This is the 8th book in The Mavericks series, it is a standalone romance that is well-written with a fast-paced storyline. The plot is well thought out and packed with plenty of drama and intrigue. The characters are incredibly likable, have a sweet connection from the beginning. Highly entertaining story, I definitely recommend this book and the series.
Lots of intrigue in this story. I loved Charlotte and Nico together, their relationship built throughout the book and they were great together. The story grabs you because you want to find out who is doing all of this and why.

This author knows how to write military romance and I am hooked on them. This book was no exception. Suspense, romance and the HEA. The blurbs at the end always have me saying “oh can’t wait for that one”.
Nico Stratus only recently got back from a Mavericks mission with Miles then suddenly he has been assigned a new one in Australia. It seems prominent activist Charlotte Ankerby has been kidnapped from her hotel room just after she arrived there to speak at a rally and with her brother working deep undercover there are fears that this is related in order to blackmail him – he Nico has been asked with a buddy to try and find her quietly and quickly. For her part, Charlotte never wanted to make the trip in the first places she had decided to concentrate on writing books to get her message across, but she bowed to pressure only to be almost immediately kidnapped. When they find and rescue her it is only the start of what turns out to be an almost forensic examination of her family and her public life in order to identify the kidnapper and stay safe – especially as bodies start to pile up. Nothing makes sense in this mission as Nico is determined to keep Charlotte safe – especially as that takes on a more personal turn. Can they work it all out?
This was a dramatic story as they did everything they could in order to work out who was behind it. I enjoyed the process of working out who was responsible as it meant I could try to work it out too. The dynamic between Nico and Charlotte was really sweet as they worked through the mystery of the kidnapper as well as how her life had changed. Well written it was very enjoyable.
OMG..what a great read this was!
Nico and Keane are in Australia to rescue Charlotte. She’s an author, anthropologist, and activist.
Charlotte isn’t interested in doing events anymore, so she isn’t thrilled that she apparently agreed to be a speaker at a conference in Australia.
Shortly after arriving, Charlotte is kidnapped and now Nico and Keane have to find her and rescue her.
Rescuing her seems to be the easier part of the mission.. finding out who kidnapped her and why are the tougher parts.
Was she kidnapped by people opposed to her part in trying to help indigenous people of Australia, or to use as leverage against her brother.. He’s deep undercover for the government, so this could be why she’s been kidnapped.
Page after page, you’ll be pulled into the action alongside Nico and Charlotte, with enough twists to keep you entertained along the way.

Nico’s new assignment in the Mavericks is a secret operation because no one knows if Charlotte’s kidnapping is related to her work as an activist, her brother’s involvement in underground work or something else entirely. No help can be asked of the Australian government or police until more is known about the cause for the attack. Charlotte hasn’t seen her brother in years as they were separated at a young age in the foster care system. However she has been looking for him. She was not suppose to go to Australia as she was really through with rallies and wanted to continue her work in books instead. A last minute push found her going against her better judgement. This rally was in support of the indigenous people and also the effect of climate issues on humanity.
I love the devotion these Navy Seals show in their pursuit of a mission and their loyalty, trust and expertise. If we could only be more like these men. Such a great example of Americans! Sometimes we forget such people exist and forget to be thankful as well! I so enjoy the characters in these books each so unique and developed in a way we feel we know them. The delightful happily ever after is the icing on the cake.
Keane helped Nico on his last assignment with Charlotte and according to the epilogue it will be his turn next to lead on a mission. Apparently a group of people were sailing and 2 washed overboard in Puget Sound and can’t be found. Keane is a bit confused about being assigned a task to look for bodies but everything is not always at it seems and that is the theme of the next book in the series. Sounds intriguing and I can’t wait!
From USA to the land down under its Nico & Charlotte’s turn. A trip to find and save Charlotte who has gone missing. From hard pasts, trying to find their ways in the current world both moving forward. Together they work towards their new future. Twists and turns keep you hooked on their story. Well pace, a page turner.
Nico is sent to Australia to rescue a kidnapped activist whose brother just happens to also be deep under cover. No one knows if the kidnapping is related to the work she does or her brother does. Charlotte’s world is turned upside down with the kidnapping. The only good things to come out it is reconnecting with her brother and meeting Nico. There are a lot of twist with this one and it is head spinner, but it doesn’t disappoint. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.
Nico is sent out on his mission to find and rescue Charlotte in Australia. She is there as representative for a group that she belongs to that are trying to save the planet. The only thing is she did not sign up for the trip and had decided that she was not doing any further public rallies but instead would write books that she thought would reach the audience further. No one admits to signing her up. All anyone seems to know is that she was kidnapped from her hotel. After beginning to investigate it seems that this may be connected to her brother who she has not seen since childhood when they were both placed into Foster Care. She did not even know if he was still alive or not. It seems her brother has been working undercover for the government for over a year on a secret op. The story has a few twists and turns to keep it interesting. I do recommend this book if you are a fan of Dale Mayer or mysteries.
