With barely enough time to recover from helping out Miles in London, Nico is off to Australia … and a secret mission involving a US covert operative … to make this trip in the first place, preferring to communicate her polarizing messages through writing her books now. But, bowing under pressure, she finally arrives in Australia, only to be attacked within minutes of reaching her hotel room for the night. After her rescue, she’s forced to dig deep into her family and public life to find the mastermind kidnapper and to stay safe as the bodies pile up.
Nothing makes sense in this twisted mission, but Nico is determined to keep Charlotte safe, even as things take a more personal turn …

Another wonderful adventure in the Mavericks series with unforgettable characters and a fast-paced drama that kept me on the edge of my seat and glued to the book from beginning to end. I loved the instant attraction and undeniable chemistry between Nico Stratus and activist Charlotte Ankerby when he goes to rescue her from her kidnappers in Australia. Ms. Mayer once again blew me away with this suspenseful military romance and I can hardly wait for book nine in this must-read series. I received an advance reader copy of “Nico” from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
What a great mystery. Was it him? Was it her? Is it related to…? Why! is the question. Why was she kidnapped and would she die?
Nico to the rescue, but is it over and will they unravel this mystery?
Hold on, this is one rough ride with plenty of danger. I loved it.
He has just finished one mission and he was hoping for a break but he is quickly sent on another mission, to find a missing woman. She prefer protesting online but she finally goes to see them. She is attacked when she arrives and now he is there to keep her safe. What is going on? What do people want her dead? Can he keep her safe? See how this will all go

This was entertaining and well worth the read! Good character development and captivating. The story line is interesting with plenty mystery, suspense, action and intrigue. The I highly recommend this book!
This is book 8 in The Mavericks series and it features Charlotte and Nico. The suspense and adventure is fantastic. The problem is that there’s not enough action, which is the reason for my rating. It’s all about trying to put the pieces together to find out who all the players were and why she was kidnapped. Charlotte was pretty snippy most of the time. Nico is one of those guys who are even-keeled and full of compassion. I didn’t feel any romance until the moment it happened toward the end. I enjoyed reading this book but I would have liked it a whole lot more if there was more action like the rest of the books in this series.
Wow! Nico heads to Australia to rescue an American activist that was grabbed from her hotel room. Charlotte wanted to work more on writing than traveling, but agreed to one more trip and then she’s kidnapped!
After she’s recovered the mystery behind her childhood and present will keep her in danger.
Hopefully Nico can keep her safe!
Nico is an ex-Navy SEAL that is now working with a black ops organization referred to as the Mavericks. His mission is to find Charlotte, a kidnapped activist who was supposed to be giving a speech in Australia. The Mavericks are involved since Charlotte has a brother who is an undercover government agent that might be compromised by local authority involvement. Nico and his teammate find Charlotte at the hotel where she was taken without too much trouble, but to ensure she is safe they need to find the person responsible. In typical Dale Mayer style the story ends with the mystery solved and the start of a budding romance between Nico and Charlotte. I can not wait to read the next book in the series.

This is one that was a little difficult to read. I don’t know if it is me or what but the female protagonist was very antagonistic a great deal of the time. I get being cranky when tired and she wasn’t getting quality sleep but man I just wanted to throw her several dirty looks myself like Nico and Keane did on occasion. Maybe it is me but it seems like several of the female protagonists of late are just annoying to me. That could be because I am older and if I was told to do something by my rescuers, I would.
I did like the dual POV format that the book is written in. It usually helps me to connect with the characters but I really didn’t feel anything for Charlotte.
There is a sexy scene but it was highly glossed over and should not offend anyone but I would not recommend this to anyone under the age of 18.
Nico got his wish. He wanted a mission of his own and did he ever get one. When a friend or colleague as for help you don’t brush it off you jump right in head off to parts unknown and help. Meanwhile, Charlotte doesn’t have a clue as to why she has been abducted but she isn’t going to stay around to find out if she can help it. Drama, intrigue, and sparks fly. These books just get better. I love how the author brings to life issues in our world. It isn’t the same old background story. Romance is a given of course. Hunky Seal meets a pretty lady sparks are bound to fly.

Nico by Dale Mayer
Mavericks Series Book 8
Nico Stratus was on a disturbing mission with Miles, but now it’s his turn to head up a mission. An American abducted in Australian. Was it because of her undercover black ops brother…or her activist status? Keane, his partner on this op, and Nico are on their own on this hush-hush mission. Hopefully, they can find and rescue this woman before it’s too late.
Charlotte Ankerby has no idea why she’s been kidnapped. She didn’t even want to come on this tour but was forced into it. The promoters set it up and then guilted her into coming. And now…she’s been kidnapped and tied up…hoping help arrives soon.
It’s been a tough mission as far as figuring out who is after Charlotte. If it’s to do with someone in her past, her activism, or what. And until that clue is solved…she’s in danger. Another page-turner for me and it wasn’t an easy puzzle to solve as to who was behind it.

It was great how part of the book was set way over in Aussie which is actually close to me in New Zealand, you are kept guessing from the get go on who is behind Charlotte’s kidnapping and even right up to to the end you keep flipping on who you think it is. You feel Nico and Keane’s frustrations on trying to work out where Charlotte is and then the reason why and who are behind everything and how they can’t fully trust a person from Charlotte’s past who has reappeared along with Charlotte wanting it all over and done with so she can walk away from doing any rallies or speaking engagements ever again. Get settled in for this page turner that has you guessing on the bad guy and worrying what will happen next!!!

Nico was waiting on his new assignment with the Mavericks. When he was contacted with the details, he was a little confused on why this was a job for the Mavericks, but he was determined to see it through. The more Nico investigated the case, the more confused he became. Lots of suspense and twists and turns.
It is Nico;s turn for his own assigment and is sent to Australia on a secret mission involving a US covert operative …
When an American undercover operative’s sister goes missing in Australia, Nico has to find out if this is connected to the operative or to the sister’s own activist background.
Charlotte hadn’t wanted to make this trip in the first place, she prefers to communicate her messages through writing her books now. But, bowing under pressure, she finally arrives in Australia, only to be attacked within minutes of reaching her hotel room for the night. After her rescue, she’s forced to dig deep into her family and public life to find the mastermind kidnapper and to stay safe.
Nico is determined to keep Charlotte safe.
This is a great book from miss Mayer and I couldn’t put it down.

Paperback. Wow. I have never enjoyed a book so much that I did in this one. It had me the edge of my seat wanting to know who was responsible for all of the deaths and for the kidnapping of Charlotte. Loved this book and I certainly can’t wait for more
Another great read in this Maverick’s series and this time it’s Nico, who ends up travelling to Australia to find a woman who has been kidnapped. Charlotte has no idea what her kidnappers want and is ready to face her doom, until Nico shows up and rescues her. The trip back to the U.S. is complicated and they have to figure out who wants her so she can live in peace.
A great read with some steam, suspense, surprises and great characters. I love the no drama between the couples, no miscommunication or misunderstandings. The story flowed nicely and it was a page turner.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Just loved the setting of this book! Charlotte is an activist who is kidnapped and Nico rescues her. Then the hunt for the person behind the kidnapping begins. Nico and Charlotte develop a romantic relationship. Love the suspense and of course the Mavericks!

This book had me from the start. Just like all the books in this series, this one keeps you engrossed and has a lot of twists and turns. Nico is an ex navy seal who gets his assignment and hits the ground running. The book is exciting and keeps you guessing. I love how the main characters interact with each other and have your attention from start to finish! Another awesome book that you won’t want to put down and has you wanting more! Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

A new adventure which started with a phone call. A kidnapped activist in Australia. A SEAL at a crossroads. Questions and more questions, coming faster and faster. More of the story is revealed with each page turn. A mystery, a romance and secrets. Bravo!

Nico is barely back from his mission with Miles when he is sent to Australia to lead an op of his own with SEAL buddy Keane as his backup. An American has been kidnapped and her whereabouts or status are unknown.
Charlotte is an activist who is ready to put her public appearances in the past and settle down with her writing. Until she is kidnapped and her world is turned upside down. Who would want her taken or worse, killed?
The pages keep turning as they reveal a cast of lifelike characters with plenty of twists, turns, questions and, of course, some hot romance.

I Love this series and I already love Nico from the previous book, so I was super excited with this one.
It’s a complicated black ops for Nico and his partner, it started with kidnapping and everything is getting more and more complicated since then, there’s this big mystery that keeps me turning the page, there’s action although not as much as I wanted to and there’s some things that a bit bothering me and kinda unbelievable or too much for me, but then there’s sweet moments full of sparks between Nico and Charlotte that really adorable, so…yeah it’s enjoyable and easily to be devoured in just a short amount of time. Definitely a book for a fast-paced suspense romance lovers.
