Simple. Neat. Orderly.A place for everything, and everything in its place.Karmen Handel’s life growing up had been anything but quiet and simple. A deadbeat father, a mother who never wanted her, and a grandmother who could care less were the perfect recipe to ensure Karmen built a wall around herself and never let anyone in. When her past comes back to haunt her, Karmen has no one to help her. … to haunt her, Karmen has no one to help her. Until Nickel.
Complicated. Dirty. Restless.
Live to ride. Ride to live.
Nickel Cunningham lives free with the brothers he calls family and has never craved anything more until he met Karmen. The shy, quiet nurse who cares for his grandma caught his eye months ago, and he hasn’t been able to get her off his mind since. Nickel knows what he wants, but he’s never had to fight for it before. Until Karmen.

Karmen and Nickel were such amazingly written characters I can’t imagine this MC being kicked off any other way! Winter Travers writes exeptionally amazing characters, especially female leads and let me tell you, she did not disappoint when creating Karmen and Nickel!
Nickel is a member of the Fallen Lords MC , they are a bunch of lady loving ,licker drinking ,Rowdy SOB’s and cross them or their families and they’re ruthless , but all Nickel seems to want is one chance in the sack with the nurse taking care of his loved one.
Once he gets to know Karmen and realizes she’s in imminent danger will he stick around for just her safety or a chance at real love ?
I loved the first book in the Fallen Lord’s series . Nickel was the total Biker package of major hotness and I enjoyed him paired with Karmen who spends her life trying to nurse people back to health , even though she needs some TLC of her own ,after the life she’s had to live growing up.
I kid you not steam began to smoke out of my e-reader during some scenes between these two.
I really liked the other members of the MC , they were hilarious and they all had their own personalities and I am looking forward to reading all of their stories .
Winter Travers is an amazing author. I was pulled into this story from the beginning to end. Super hot! Cannot wait to see what is next.
Wow! This is a great start to this new series that I can already tell I’m going to love! Karmen starts off quiet, definitely keeps to herself, working and spending time with her best friend, Nikki. That bad boy Nickel is just enough bossy alpha and sweet that he drags you in to the story. I love the way they connected to each other. Little bit of danger lurking around, great cast of characters that I can’t wait to read more about. Loved it! Must read!
Loved this book!!!
Sigh, just, yesss. I love it when I find a good m.c. read and this author delivered.
The chemistry between all the characters is fabulous. The story line leaves just enough empty places to keep a reader intrigued but also answers the questions that need answering. The storyline has everything a reader could need: slow and steady moments, adrenaline fueled moments, steamy scenes with just enough romances mixed in, and a happy ending for the characters, but also an ending that leaves the reader questioning what is happening in that situation, so with that, on the figure out wth is going onnnn
Read this series From winter Travers.
Omg The men are Alphas
The women hysrerical.
Lol reading
Very good book
Nickel is an arrogant and possessive bastard who manages to be caring and bossy at once. Karmen is a bipolar flighty mess. This book built up so much on insecurities and the bad guy for it to all end swiftly with her pregnant and the bad guy dead. This book was repetitive to no end we get it you had a crappy childhood but lets hear a little more about Nickel for a change. Then there was asinine moments where he would say oh why do you need to know my name and she doesn’t really bother to ask more in depth details about his life because it would disturb her “boxes” . I don’t know who I dislike more. This book is in severe need of a proofreader and if it was proofread then if I was the author I would fire the proofreader. Also if you took all of the sex scenes then you would have a shorter book. No chemistry whatsoever!!
Can’t wait to read rest of series
Not your typical MC book. Great characters. Awesome book.
I loved this book so much that I have bought the entire series. Love it when characters develop in continuing books. I can’t wait for the next one!
This book started it all in this MC series and I LOVED it and each book I’ve read so far, I’m hooked!
Enjoyable
What do you get when a shy, awkward, sassy woman meets a biker that is not afraid to go after what he wants???
Karmen is out shy and sweet nurse who has been looking after Nickel’s grandmother for about a year. They have seen each other and passed each other, but have never really spoken. Until 1 day when Nickel decides he needs to know just who Karmen is. What he finds is a woman who has always got to be in control, and lives in a shell. Nickel helps her find herself by showing her what life could be like if you could just give up a little bit of control. It takes awhile, but she slowly emerges as their love grows.
Yes this is an MC based book. If you are looking for a hardcore MC then this book is not for you. However, this book is full of 1 alpha biker that will do anything for the woman he loves. There is nothing he wouldn’t do to keep her safe, and we get to see just that in this book. There is not a lot of angst, but it does have some action splashed with a mystery. I really enjoyed the secondary characters and am looking forward to see who gets a book!

Nickel was the first book in Winter Travers Fallen Lord’s MC series.
Nickel was a patched member of the Fallen Lord’s MC. He was close to his grandmother who was in a nursing home. He lusted after his grandmother’s nurse, Karmen, for a year until she finally agreed to go out with him. Nickel was a typical gorgeous, protective and confident alpha that wasn’t afraid to ask for or take what he wanted.
Karmen had very few people in life who she counted on. Her mom left her young, her dad was in prison and her grandmother was the wicked witch who raised her. Trusting was not easy for her. She was quiet to the outside world but humorous and feisty to her inner circle, which really only consisted of her childhood bestie.
Travers built the foundation of the storyline developing the relationship between Karmen and Nickel. Additionally, she had a suspenseful plot that involved Karmen’s father that ultimately impacted Karmen. Lastly, Travers weaved an MC saga into the mix, which will carry over as a secondary and overlapping story throughout the series. The three plots ran independently but ultimately meshed into one.
Nickel was well written and entertaining. It did, however, include several editing errors. I enjoyed the storyline thoroughly but found I was desiring slightly more depth at times. The platform for the series was set, so hopefully we’ll see more explanation as the series progresses.
Travers included a strong set of supporting characters that will continue throughout the series. They added dimension, entertainment and a promise for a solid and enjoyable series. Next up are Pipe and Nikki where Travers has already eluded to an explosive and emotional storyline.
Karmen is so insecure and it’s a big part of who she is. Although it’s a part of her it gets tiring fast. Like girl get your ass out of your pity party.
Nickel he’s a good egg the way he wants to treat her and make her feel like a princess and sexy. The baby nickname he had for Karmen got so annoying because it was so overused and just didn’t feel natural to me.
Their relationship feels very insta-lovey to me and I don’t really see much of a connection there other than a physical one. It also feels very juvenile. Big plot issues so to speak yet their relationship feels so childish. Then they have moments where they are really serious adults. They are all over the place but I kind of like it.
I really enjoy the plot, I also love Cora and Karmen and their little chats. The plot is intense it is keeping me hooked all the way through! I am just wanting to keep reading!
The book changed paces quite a few times but it worked, and I really enjoyed it. I thought the ending was perfect and I also love the fact she was having a baby!
“I couldn’t find a box big enough to fit him in. Well that makes me sound like a murderer or something.”
This quote. Is a brilliant open liner.
I really enjoyed the story, the characters and the plot, and with how it ended I can’t wait to read Pipe.

Holy Hotness, Winter Travers has a new MC series and book one is amazing!!!! Nickel goes to visit his grandmother every Tuesday, partly because she is his granny and the other part happens to be the nurse that he has been eyeballing for a year. Karmen has worked her butt off to get where she is, her family wasn’t anything to write home about and definitely nobody to rely on. When Nickel finally gets Karmen to go out with him on a date, he will take this chance and never let her go again. When Karmen’s past comes back to haunt her in ways she never ever thought possible, Nickel will do anything to keep her safe, she is going to be his ol’ lady after all, even if she isn’t aware of it yet.
I loved everything about this new MC, from the cast of characters that keep you giggling, the hot sexy times, and some drama; this was a 5 star read for me. I can’t wait for the next in this series.

It takes Nickel a year to get Karmen, the cute nurse that is taking care of his grandmother, to agree to go out with him. They hit it off, despite her major insecurities and things are looking good, until one late night phone call leads them to learn of a problem heading their way.
OK so, I really liked the characters in this world, and I’m looking forward to learning more about the MC brothers. Boink, gotta love that name, and Pipe being the two main ones I’d like to learn more about. However, I felt some things were left a little as if they were forgotten about. I’m sure they’ll get addressed as the series progresses but I wanted to know a bit more about them like now, lol. I can’t wait to read what’s going on with Pipe and Nikki next. Nickel though, gets 4.5 stars from me.
This was a Bookbub recommendation. I was looking for a new author and gave Winter Travers a chance. I was hooked from the first few pages. I love books like that.
This book was action-packed and easy to read with lots of steamy scenes. It was more realistic than I expected (well, as realistic as what I think a MC could be). There were shocking scenes, but you’ll fall in love with all the characters. I purchased the rest of the series and it just kept getting better and better.
** spoiler alert ** After her childhood, Karmen was determined to stay in the shadows and not coming out of her shell. Nickel has lived by the MC being everything and now has more than himself to look out for. Will Karmen give him a chance? Will Nickel be able to keep her safe?
I liked how these two were opposites that couldn’t help their growing feelings for each other. Nickel definitely had me with his bad boy protective side. Loved seeing Karmen come out of her shell and open up to others around her. Great read and cannot wait to read the rest of the series!
