The “enchanting” (Publishers Weekly) Jane Jameson series is back with a new paranormal romantic comedy about werewolf yearning to find her own place world, and the group of admittedly unique vampires who help her find love. Tylene McClaine, black sheep of the McClaine Half-Moon Hollow werewolf pack, has spent a lifetime blocking out the criticisms of her boisterous pack. They say she’s too … say she’s too bookish, too sarcastic, and worst of all, too picky when it comes to finding a nice werewolf boy and settling down.
But when she meets vampire and Half-Moon Hollow music teacher, Alex Bonfils, Tylene starts to wonder if she could create the life she’s always wanted. She takes every precaution to meet her sexy vamp in secret, but when a vandal around town starts targeting vampire businesses, she fears her family might have found her out. When the damage in town escalates, Tylene and Alex join forces with Jane Jameson, Dick Cheney, and the whole vampire gang to find the culprit save Half-Moon Hollow before it’s too late!

Nice Werewolves Don’t Bite Vampires brings us back to Half-Moon Hollow, Jane Jameson, Dick Cheney, and the whole vampire gang. Everyone knows someone like Tylene McClaine, the quiet one the one who just doesn’t fit in with the rest of the crowd. Not in a creepy way, just in they’d rather be anywhere else. Tylene is smart and fighting against family expectations. And when you’re a werewolf those expectations are backed up with tooth and claw. But if Jolene could do it so can Ty. This was a fun tale of those efforts mixed with the Scooby gangs efforts to find out who is targeting Vampire business’s and why. I loved Ty and could totally relate.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I really needed something funny, and so it was nice to forget anything and put myself back in Half-Moon Hollow. Ty, I think, will really resonate with anyone who has had to break away from family expectations and go their own way. As with many of Molly’s books, found family is a huge component, which I love. It was also fun to get an update on characters from past stories. If snark is your catnip, this will be a fun book for you.
3 stars – I liked it
Tylene McClaine is the black sheep of her family’s pack. She just wants to do her own thing but her parents are determined to dictate her life for her. After she meets music teacher and vampire, Alex Bonfils, Tylene starts to realize if she wants to be happy she needs to make some big changes in her life.
This was an interesting one because it’s the first werewolf romance since Darlene and Zeb’s in the Jane Jameson series. While I did like Tylene, she was also a bit of a pushover through most of this book. She lets her family push her around and almost lets them ruin her life. I liked seeing her gain confidence in her life and finally do the right thing for her.
Alex was a sweet vampire. I like that he spent his years on earth doing what he loved and is now using that love to teach kids music. He was very cute with the kids. I enjoyed Alex and Tylene’s relationship, even when they were putting barriers between them. Their enemy in this book wasn’t very intense or scary, but I still enjoyed it.
Overall, this was a great addition to the Half-Moon Hollow series. I love that we finally got a story from a werewolves perspective and hope to see more wolves in future stories. Also, I love the found family scenes with Jane and Dick in the bookstore. They really are great background characters.
Content Warnings: Heroine goes on a date with someone else after going on a date with Alex.
Molly Harper is one of my go-tos … her Half-Moon Hollow residents feel like family ,., most of the family are vampires with a few werewolves thrown into the mix…AND Molly has quite the snarky sense of humor which she delightfully builds into her characters. She’s the type of author I could be friends with… I listen to the Audio version because the narrator Amanda Ronconi is amazing and brings her own fun to the party!
I expected a funnier book based on reviews for this author (not necessarily this book itself but the author is supposedly very funny). I have to admit I cracked a few smiles, giggled a few times but overall, I didn’t really feel like it was so funny. So I think my expectations were off.
That said, the characters were generally fun. Tylene is a werewolf who has to live up to certain expectations (I’m guessing that the expectations were even more fully fleshed out in prior stories given the mention of other couples but it wasn’t something that was unclear in this story either). Alex is a vampire who is also a music teacher. They meet, fall in love pretty quickly and then have to handle not just her family dynamics because they don’t believe in werewolf/vampire coupling, but also someone who is attacking vampire businesses. So there is a lot happening and it was fun to be a part of the craziness of Half-moon Hollow.
I actually bought the audiobook and listened to that rather than reading the ebook. Overall, Amanda Ronconi did a great job, affecting accents when called for and playing multiple characters. I enjoyed her narration.
Great book! This book deals with some the issues that lead one to leave their non-accepting family of origin for an accepting family of choice. Along the way is love, lies, sneaking around, a centuries old grudge, kidnapping and attempted murder. The heroine comes to understand things about herself and her families old and new. When the book ends the heroine has grown doing OK at adulting.
As always Molly Harper has written an entertaining read.
