Author Liz Flaherty always creates an emotional reading experience that’s just right for those who love heartwarming romance.
An emotional rollercoaster that will leave you smiling! This story was quick to draw my attention with it’s in depth details of what each character is feeling as the setting is laid out. We get not only the potential romance of Cass and Luke, but also several feel good moments between the older characters and with the teens. It’s a complex story with many pieces pulling at our hearts, but it comes together well. Memorable, sweet and very enjoyable. Loved it!
When Cass Gentry heads back to Lake Miniagua, it’s bittersweet. This is the only place that’s ever felt like home, but memories that made her run in the first place assail her at every turn. She’s temporarily in charge of her feisty teenage sister and has to decide what to do with her life. Checking out the orchard that she’s now half owner of is first on her list.
Luke Rassiter bought out her Aunt Zoey’s half of the orchard several years ago, so he’s now her partner. He too is at a bit of a crossroad, but the enjoyment he gets from working in this peaceful place is pulling him more than anything at the moment. The attraction between he and Cass is evident from the moment they meet, but they each have loved and lost and each carrying the baggage around to show for it. Will they find the pull too strong to ignore for long?
I really enjoyed this sweet story. There are other stories related to this one, all set in this quaint community. However, the author did a really good job of making this book readable as a stand alone. I had not read the other stories and had no trouble diving into this one.
I liked Cass and Luke immediately and I loved watching as their attraction and connection to each other grew. It was interesting to see how good these two were together, even when they were both resistant to commitment. There were also wonderful side characters, including Zoey, Seth, and Royce.
Cass and Luke carried some real fears around with them. Although they each had been through trials that had made them stronger, their past experiences kept them both worried about the future. I think one of the most likable things about this couple was the fact that their fears weren’t unfounded. What each of them feared happening was something that was a realistic possibility. But the question was, could love help them overcome their fears?
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s a make you feel good book. The story was great and had me eagerly gobbling up this book. It had it’s funny carefree moments, but also serious hit you right in the heart moments. Though Cass’s family is quite dysfunctional you can feel the love between the family, well from most everyone. Moving back to the lake is going the best decision Cass ever makes. It gives her a new beginning and helps her heal the old wounds that never really had closure. All the characters are well written and makes you want to be part of this little town.
I can’t wait to read this book!
