Nothing sucks the romance out of world travel like a boyfriend who may or may not have broken up with you in a hotel room in Brussels. Jane Jameson’s sexy sire Gabriel has always been unpredictable, but the seductive, anonymous notes that await him at each stop of their international vacation, coupled with his evasive behavior over the past few months, finally push Jane onto the next flight … over the past few months, finally push Jane onto the next flight home to Half Moon Hollow — alone, upset, and unsure whether Gabriel just ended their relationship without actually telling her.
Now the children’s-librarian-turned-vampire is reviving with plenty of Faux Type O, some TLC from her colorful friends and family, and her plans for a Brave New Jane. Step One: Get her newly renovated occult bookstore off the ground. Step Two: Support her best friend, Zeb, and his werewolf bride as they prepare for the impending birth of their baby…or litter. Step Three: Figure out who’s been sending her threatening letters, and how her hostile pen pal is tied to Gabriel. Because for this nice girl, surviving a broken heart is suddenly becoming a matter of life and undeath….

3 stars – I liked it
Jane Jameson’s story continues with a rocky vacation with Gabriel, where he might have broken up with her. Back in Half-Moon Hollow, Jane spends her time dedicated to her occult bookstore and preparing for Zeb and Jolene’s baby shower. And trying to get over her feelings for Gabriel.
While I did enjoy this book, the breakup and arguments with Gabriel were a bit of a downer for me. Like in the previous books, Gabriel continues to not talk to Jane about issues and it all comes to a head in this book. At this point, I don’t really love Gabriel because I can’t really envision a HEA for these two. I just see him continuing to create problems by not trusting Jane and more fights. Hopefully in the next book my opinion of him will get better but we will see.
Like I said, even with the issues with Gabriel I still enjoyed this book. I loved the found family that Jane has found in Zeb, Jolene, Dick and Andria. Their friendship was what really sold this book for me. Jane is a better person with them around and I think they are all better with her around too. And while I still think Jane’s family is toxic, it was really nice to see that her mother and sister are starting to change and bridges are being mended.
The narrator, Amanda Ronconi, really brings to life Jane and all the other characters. I am so glad I picked these up in the audio format because I feel like I might not have liked them as much reading them, especially since she really sells Jane’s snarkiness.
Also the Courtney’s in this story were like a horror story just waiting to happen. I was surprised by how long Jane put up with them. She was way nicer than she should have been.
Enjoyable, easy read. The hints flew over my head. Enjoyed Jane’s story!
I love Molly Harper and her Half Moon Hollow related books. She is the writer who introduced me to paranormal romance. This was one of my 1st books of tge genre. I will always love Molly Harper.
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I bought this audiobook because I liked the narrator and Molly Harper’s humor in her books. I got the first 5 books so far.
This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to content and humor. I highly recommend reading or listening to this series in order because it makes it more awesome when you know the characters and world better.
The narrator is still Amanda, YAY!! I really like her style and how she brings the story to life with all the sarcasm and snark. Of course, she wouldn’t be able to do this without Molly Harper writing a fabulous story. I love how she always manages to surprise me with the story. Her writing style makes it easy to love the series filled with action, family drama, intrigue, and humor. I really want to collect the whole series.
In this story, Jane and Gabriel go overseas on vacation, but something is going on because Gabriel is acting weird and getting weird letters. He is not talking about what is going, and Jane isn’t pushing for answers. Of course, this leads to doubt which leads to more trouble. Jane goes back home to help with her improved bookstore. Things are still crazy because Zeb’s wife is pregnant, family craziness is still there, and of course the letters. It amazes me how much trouble Jane can get into without even trying. This story has just as much action as the others, and I can’t wait to see what happens next to Jane.
I highly recommend to any vamp fans who love snarky vampires who tend to have chaos follow them around! This series is so much fun!
