A scarred and lonely billionaire hiding from his past …Jared Connor lost his innocence at the age of ten when his father poured gasoline around the family home and left his two young sons to die in the flames. Now an adult, he’s carefully crafted a pretend life where he can hide his scars and his death row father behind the disguise of a caretaker’s pickup truck and a pair of gardening shears. … gardening shears. But when a beautiful woman with scars of her own barges into his quiet, solitary life, Jared finds it increasingly difficult to hide from what he really wants.
A successful young businesswoman ill at ease in her newfound beauty …
Phlox Miller was never the pretty girl and no magic mascara or secret serum was ever going to change that–not even one manufactured by her own company. When an accident at her country home burns her face and body, she spares no expense on her recovery and plastic surgery. Now she turns heads on the street, but can’t recognize herself in the mirror–and can’t convince the man she loves that he’s beautiful, too.
Next to You is a standalone romance with a scarred—but sexy AF—billionaire and a geeky CEO heroine. (Because why can’t women have all the money and success in these books?) Throw in a little angst. A few secrets. A best friend and one pitbull personal assistant. Oh and toss a hidden identity in there somewhere … and then some seriously steamy times! (No cliffhanger. Definitely a Happy Ever After.)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The characters were so wonderfully developed and the story was fun…thank you!
I enjoyed the story and really didn’t want to put it down. I’m not one to give a synopsis in my reviews, I just want to share if it is enough to satistfy my need for a good story that doesn’t bore me. This was a good story that definitely held my attention.
Enjoyed
Well done.
enjoyed the book.
Great read!
This is a great book, the writing is entertaining and witty and made me laugh so hard I bought the next book and it made me laugh. The romance has more layers that usual and I appreciated that. The mostly naked men don’t hurt either 🙂 .
This is a story of healing. The main characters struggle with different scars from the same type of trauma and their choices in how they deal with life. Neither can heal without the other.
One of my Favorites
An outstanding story with the main characters being somewhat ‘oil and water’ yet being able to overcome their dynamic differences, monumental fears, and eventually playing off their faith in each other and their internal strengths.
Never once considered putting this book down … enjoyed the dynamic descriptions which brought this couple …
Ms. Gabriel gives a caring story. About two people who find each other and the inner strength to grow. They help each other heal. ( A life-time of of pain for one and fear of revisiting a flare up for the other).
Don’t miss this book!
It was a great story and enjoyable reading. I’m just one that prefers not very much sex description . Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars
A sweet read.
So good I ordered the sequel and devored it.
Both the hero and heroine suffered burns, but the hero has a disfigured face. Very emotional story with likable characters, especially the supporting characters. I bought the bonus ending and the 2nd story in the series. The story was steamier/racier than it had to be, so I only gave it 4 stars.
Very well-written story with a wonderful, believable plot. This is the type of writing that causes a person to live the story.
too much steamy cut my rating
Romance at its peak.
Good book!
Wonderful story!
