What happens when the cute mountain man you made out with in an ice fishing shack turns out to be your brother’s best friend? A whole lot of awkward, that’s what. Maggie’s mind is reeling when she discovers the guy she became tangled up with at Marv’s Bait & Tackle isn’t a stranger like she thought. The big snag: Sam and Maggie’s chemistry is hot enough to melt ice, which makes keeping their … keeping their secret far more difficult than either expected. Especially when one of them decides they want this arrangement to be more than just a catch and release.

Oh man I wanted to love this one but Maggie drove me crazy! I am so disappointed I didn’t like this one more as I was dying for their story at the end of Wait with Me. Sam deserved so much better than a woman that was pining after another man. Sam is a growly alpha man. He is a sexy and irresistible mountain man. On the exterior Maggie has a sweet and fun personality. But inside her insecurities were endless. She needed a lesson knowing her self-worth and the majority of the book this grated on my nerves. Having said all this I found myself addicted to the story and the incredible chemistry between these two characters. There are a ton of moments that had me rolling my eyes one moment and laughing out loud the next. Basically this book was like a car crash waiting to happen but I still couldn’t look away. I’m looking forward to the next two books in the series.
Maggie wants to go on an adventure and win her boyfriend back with her new set of exciting outdoor skills and Sam is helping her achieve that goal but somewhere between the ice fishing and snowboarding that doesn’t seem to appeal to them anymore and the story changes but what a fun story it was!
Cute and quirky meets rugged outdoors guy who doesn’t do relationships!

Sam and Maggie has your emotions all over the place in this story. What starts out as an innocent make out session turns into so much more with this delightful duo. Will they get what they want out of this relationship? This story draws you in and has you all caught up in their drama as it unfolds.
I actually read the other books before this one. And it came up free so I stole it! Lol. And since I liked the characters I thought it would be awesome. But I was soooo annoyed with Maggie the whole book. I am all about romance. Shit I read like almost a book a day. And I understand when life throws a curve ball and the supposed love of your life breaks up with you and messes up your plans. But come on. Her ex is a dick and said mean things to her and basically told her she wasn’t enough. I get sams reluctance but he was patient with her the whole damn time with her always trying win the ex back and trying to change for him not herself. And was nasty when she didn’t like to hear the truth of looking in the mirror about her relationship with her ex. Idk. I love them together but she was ridiculous.
I shockingly loved this book. Why shocked you ask? I tried reading it when it came out. But I just couldn’t get into it. Now I LOVE Amy Daws other books so why not this one. So I waited for the audio. Then didn’t listen for a while. Now I am sorry it took so long. This really is a wonderfully funny story. I loved all the fishing puns. Not sure how she thought of so many but…impressive.
There are quite a few memorable and favorite scenes in here. But my all time favorite is the restaurant scene where Sam goes after Sterling. Followed by the back alley scene between Sam and Maggie. The way he describes how he sees her is just heart melting.
I really consider this one of my favorite stories and will listen to again and again. Obviously I listened to this on audio. Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton are the narrators. Is there anything to say other than: they ROCK! I love Both their voices.
h: Maggie
H: Sam
(Dual POVs)
Overall, I loved this book! I think I enjoyed it even more than the first in the series, although it was nice to get glimpses of Kate and Miles! I thought all the fishing puns and jokes were hilarious, and I loved the connection these two had, in and out of the bedroom.
I wasn’t Maggie’s biggest fan. I liked that she seemed adventurous, a bit feisty, and determined to try new things but she also made me want to knock her in the back of her head a few times. Maggie seems so obsessed with the fantasy of love at first sight that she was clinging to a guy who doesn’t appreciate her for what she’s worth and blind to see the perfect man right in front of her. I think once she’s over her Sterling fantasy, Maggie and Sam make an adorable couple.
Sam was the absolute perfect specimen of a book boyfriend He’s family oriented and he’s already pretty set in his life. He has a good career that’s expanding, and he owns his own cabin with a truck and some man toys. He’s a smooth talker with a bit of a shy side but can also knock someone out for talking bad about a woman. All of this and the age gap of nine years realllllly worked for me. I thought Miles’ reaction to his best friend and sister doing things behind his back couldn’t have been more perfect
Is it possible to request a bonus scene where Maggie and Sam have babies?!
Favorite Quotes:
”You’re spark is right here.” -Maggie
He smoothly stokes the orgasm I had earlier like a fire of embers in need of a little puff of oxygen.
“All stories are unique. Beginning to end. Fiction and nonfiction.” -Maggie’s Mom
This series has definitely become an all-time favorite of mine! I am in love with Amy’s wonderful mix of steam, banter, and emotion! She combines all of that in this series and I am addicted! I’ve been so excited to jump into this book after I finished Wait With Me and I am so glad I finally did! I was also super excited because this book instantly made me think of the movie Bait Shop when I read the blurb and I was sold from then on! And it definitely had ALL the fishing puns and jokes my heart desired! Pick this up and I guarantee you won’t stop laughing!
I’m going to be completely honest, I had mixed feelings about Maggie because her feelings were all over the place and it drove me a bit nuts at times. I wanted to shake this girl so she’d realize the importance of doing things for herself and putting her personal happiness first. And even though I felt bad for her when her plans began to implode, I was also relieved that she would have to face reality. It seemed like she learned a lot and grew as the book went on!
Sam was the perfect person to help her realize what she wanted. Y’all, he is fine with a capital F! He can catch me any day of the week! He is older which always adds to the maturity level of the character, but he is also kind, thoughtful, caring, and loves his family to pieces. He was 100% my favorite part of this book! I really found myself swooning over this character and I need him in my life!
By the end, after some nail-biting moments, I really felt good about Maggie and Sam. I loved the sweet and spicy moments between them and I felt myself wanting even more. I can’t wait to see if they make cameos in the next two books! Also, you get some more Miles and Kate content in this one and it is quite hilarious at times! I really love this funny rom-com world Amy has created and I already know I’m going to be disappointed when I run out of books to read in the series!
4 1/2 stars. Loved it.
Next in line is the second book in Amy Daws’ Wait With Me series.
I had a certain half-love with this book that tells us the story of Maggie, Miles’ little sister, who unknowingly kisses and tells her life to her brother Sam’s best friend. They both have a crush while fishing on the ice, this as an attempt by Maggie to be less “basic”. Maggie has an objective to recover her ex-boyfriend, Sam without planning it, falls in love and lets Maggie enter his life, and wants something more.
Here the roles are reversed, it is Sam who falls in love and goes after Maggie, and unknowingly is putting Maggie over her friendship with Miles. Sam is the guy who tries to let her know that she is worth a lot and does not have to change for anyone because her spark is what makes her unique and if someone does not appreciate her for who she is, then she is not worth it
Maggie on the other hand stressed me out, because she is so focused on fulfilling her dream ideals that she doesn’t realize she has everything in front of her.
The story in general is very beautiful, and I love it because it always has the necessary touch of humor, another thing that I like is that we know a little more about Miles and Kate’s life.
I have to say that in the end I like it, it’s a good light reading and if you like romance this is a good book for you.
Absolutely loved this story. This time up its Sam and Maggie. From the fishing jokes, sexting, ice fishing, silo climbing, snow boarding fun. These two were laugh out loud funny. Absolutely loved the ending and Sam with his niece is just swoon worthy. This one will get you hook, line and sinker.
Hook, Line & Sinker!
What a cute book! I love all the puns and the corny jokes with fishing. It was perfect. Keeping in this world has me still swooning. You definitely should pick up Wait With Me first to get Miles and Kate’s story. So you can have the backstory that gives you more of an epilogue with those two.
Maggie is such a force and a storm. She has a set plan in place that she doesn’t want to divert from. She thinks it will work if she keeps on this path. Sam walks this path with her when she ends up in Boulder, Colorado and shows her a whole knew adventurous world.
I really enjoyed this book and the angst it gave me towards the end. I wasn’t sure how it was all going to play out and it clearly was a happy ever after but Amy Daws creates it in a way you’re not sure which path they’ll go down until you’re on it. Now on to book 3!
I loved Sam and Maggie’s story! I really appreciated how Sam supports Maggie in her quest for adventure and makes sure she is safe, even though he disagrees with her reason behind it. I appreciated the growth that both characters have through the story, and that the growth was not without a little pain. I love that they are able to identify new priorities in their lives and recognize the role each other plays in those priorities. I really loved that Sam allowed her to ice fish with him from the start, opening up to her without even realizing it. There is nothing better than the guy who is never going to commit falling hard for the girl who is all about commitment.
This story is written in first person with dual POV.
This book has it all! Forbidden romance, outdoor adventure, sassy heroine, and feisty banter.
Maggie is the fiery little sister to Miles (from Wait With Me) and Sam is Miles’ best friend and co-worker at Tire Depot.
Maggie is on a mission to show an ex-boyfriend that she is not ‘basic.’ In these attempts, she takes on all kinds of adventures that push her way out of her comfort zone. Her first attempt is in ice fishing where she meets Sam. And the mayhem begins.
What do I love about this book? So many things.
Maggie’s determination.
Sam’s charm and smolder.
The push and pull between Maggie and Sam. Their chemistry is super steamy, even in an ice fishing tent!
The self-discovery journey that they each take, especially Maggie. I can definitely relate to trying to impress a guy that is not good for you. Sam, working on his dream of expanding the Tire Depot while dealing with commitment issues because of his father.
The banter, oh the banter between these two made me laugh so hard.
More of Miles and Kate being supportive or the added push to their friends.
Don’t wait, dive into this feisty romance!
Second book in the ‘Wait with me’ Series.
Sam is from the first book who is Miles’ best friend and the soon to be owner of the Tire Depot.
Miles’ sister happens to come in town and meets Sam unknowing who he actually is.
This was much more enjoyable than the first book. I loved the characters and it was nice to see more of Miles and Kate throughout.
The connection of Sam and Maggie was a gradual growth and different than what I usually read. A very good different.
It wasn’t instant magnetism like many other books. I love how their friendship and comfort with eachother formed quick.
There were many laughs due to Maggie who was very entertaining in her young and innocent ways.
I do recommend this book and glad I gave it a chance. It also gave me a few leads into the next book which I am starting immediately.
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Next in Line: Wait With Me book 2: A Bait Shop Rom Com by Amy Daws and this review was given freely.
This is a fast paced, flirty and steamy story including the progressive friendship and romances of Boulder, Colorado’s The Tire Depot’s owner Sam and his best friend and employee Miles.
Mile’s recently college graduated sister Maggie comes to Boulder,Colorado after a bad breakup hoping to rekindle her ex’s interest by becoming more adventurous but finds more than adventure in the form of an ice fishing stranger that turns out to be her brother’s best friend Sam.
I loved Wait for Me so I was anxious to start reading the next book. I was about a third of the way through and almost gave up and DNF because Maggie was driving me bananas. But I kept going and I am soo glad I did! What I am loving most about Amy Daws’ storytelling is that she doesn’t wait until the very end to get the two lovebirds together. She gives the couple their HEA and then give us more content to enjoy their togetherness. That makes me happy.
Next in Line (Wait With Me #2) by Amy Daws is a contemporary, age gap, romantic comedy told in first person, dual POV. Those who have read Wait With Me will enjoy appearances from previous characters, but reading it first is unnecessary as this is a standalone.
After getting dumped on Christmas, Maggie sets out to have some adventures and win her ex-boyfriend back by proving that she’s not as basic as he thinks. That’s how she winds up at the bait shop where she meets Sam. He ends up helping her out by taking her ice fishing with him and they share a scorching kiss. Maggie and Sam have undeniable chemistry, but neither have plans on getting into anything serious with each other. Maggie is on a mission to win back her ex, Sam doesn’t do relationships, and the biggest shock to them both is that Maggie’s older brother, Miles, is Sam’s best friend.
What will happen as Sam helps Maggie with her adventures? Will Sam be able to resist his best friend’s little sister? Or will they give in to their attraction? Will they have a fling or develop something real? Will Maggie succeed at her plan to win back her ex? What will happen if she gets everything she thinks she wants? Read the book to find out.
I loved Maggie and Sam’s story. As characters they were both likeable and realistically flawed. They had such great chemistry and their witty banter was so much fun. There were moments that literally had me laughing out loud. I was invested in their story right from the start and couldn’t put it down. It was funny, flirty, sexy, and so entertaining. I highly recommend it.
I loved this book its the second in a stand alone series you don’t have to read the first but its nice to read about Miles and Kates story.
Meg had her life all planned out she graduated college early and could not wait for her boy friend to propose and start their life together they were “love at first sight” they were going to get married and have kids and he was just waiting to be recruited into a professional foot ball team. Christmas day it all ended he decided she was to “basic.”
On a journey of self discovery and wanting to be more adventurous and less basic she runs to her brother and decides to try ice fishing. Meeting a sexy ginger who takes her under his wing teaches her to ice fish among other exciting winter adventures they mysterious ginger who doesn’t do relationships finds himself falling for the girl he cant have.
Sam wants nothing more than to take over Tire Depot he has plans to make it more amazing than it already is. He finds himself asking a sexy girl fishing and then getting wrapped into her crazy plans help her get more adventurous. He is a no stings attached kinda guy. Meg is slowly changing his mind to bad she wants her x back.
This book is just as sweet and swooney as the first I love Amy’s writing style I got sucked in to this book from watching her Tires Tires Tires story. I cant wait for more of the series and I will be reading her other books. 5 fantastic romance stars
Amy Daws is an amazing writer, I absolutely loved this book! It is steamy and fun! Love Maggie and Sam’s story! Can’t wait to read more from Amy!
