I enjoy this author
This is my first book by Harper Bliss and it won’t be my last! I loved the quiet, slow burn of Jill and Ali’s love story. Their backstories and work situation made for enough conflict to carry through the book. I loved that both Jill and Ali were not perfect, but they appreciated, and were attracted to, each other’s imperfections. Also, NEXT IN LINE FOR LOVE made me really crave a good beer 😉 I picked this up on KU and read it in one day! Give it a try if you enjoy contemporary romance, an age gap (Jill is in her 50’s and Ali in her mid-30’s), and a workplace romance.
It is not a secret I am a huge fan of Harper’s writing style and I am thrilled to find a new book from her every time. She always amazes me and this one wasn’t the exception.
What happens when a privileged woman has been away from her family and the family business, only to be asked by her father to come back and take the reins of it all? Alexandra “Ali” Lennox found herself back home and facing to take the family business seriously to become CEO of the company. For Jill Gold, Lennox Breweries have been her life for the last twenty years; she lives for her work and doesn’t have time for anything else and definitely not for love. When she is asked to mentor Ali, who she only considers as a spoiled brat, changes the course of her plans. Can Ali leave the past behind and be the grown woman she needs to be? Will Jill get to know Ali enough to see her beyond the privileged spoiled trust-fund brat she takes her for? Can they trust each other at the end, for the sake of the company’s future and theirs?
This is a beautifully written age-gap romance. The story isn’t predictable, brought a few interesting surprises along the way. I am always up for a self-discovery journey, characters growth, sexy times and a little bit of drama. All these elements when combined masterfully as Ms Harper does, turn a great story in a brilliant one.
Both main characters Ali and Jill are very lovable characters. I like how they show a very different front from what they really hold inside to protect themselves. It is fascinating to see them grow throughout the story, fight their demons because and despite their different reasons. Their stories aren’t similar, but both are dealing with a past they ran away from. By working together, their issues come into collision forcing them to address them as a team, whether they want it or not. I enjoyed how each other paved the way to self-discovery and grow by themselves and together. Also, is fascinating to see them merge organically and almost effortlessly as a couple. The story plot is perfectly developed.
I absolutely loved this very well written delightful, brilliant romance. Everything worked for me in this book and I’d gladly like to recommend it.
