Book Two in a Complete Series (all stand-alone titles) for Romance Readers Who Love Dogs! When former attorney and current dog whisperer Shane Kilcannon messes up his chance with a beautiful stranger, he’s ready to snarl like one of his beloved pitbulls. But Shane’s work with the wildest and wariest of his family’s rescue dogs has taught him patience and persistence. When his father hands him the … When his father hands him the opportunity to work alongside that very same woman who has come to town with groundbreaking tourism plans, he seizes it. He even offers to help her win over the locals, as long as she is willing to give a temporary home to one misunderstood dog…and spend plenty of time with Shane.
Chloe Somerset has built a reputation in the tourism industry as someone with big ideas that put little places on the map, and she’s certain she can do the same for Bitter Bark, North Carolina. All she has to do is convince one small town to change its name, open her clean-freak heart to a dog with a penchant for face-licking, and avoid the landmines of local politics when her plans divide the townspeople. But none of that is as scary as the feeling of falling hard for a sexy charmer who whispers all the right things and tempts Chloe to forget a lifetime of hard lessons. Shane might know exactly how to get through to the creatures who need care the most, but he’s met his match with Chloe, and it’ll take every trick he knows to teach her to fall in love.
The Dogfather Series
Every love story in this completed nine-book series begins and ends with a dog. And a little help from The Dogfather.
**Every cover features a rescue dog and a “local hero” from Alaqua Animal Refuge in Florida and a portion of book sales has been donated to this amazing shelter!**
Daniel Kilcannon is known as “The Dogfather” for a reason. It’s not just his renowned skills as a veterinarian, his tremendous love of dogs, or the fact that he has turned his homestead in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains into a world-class dog training and rescue facility. Ask his six grown children who run Waterford Farm for him, and they’ll tell you that their father’s nickname is due to his uncanny ability to pull a few strings to get what he wants. And what he wants is for his four sons and two daughters to find the kind of life-changing love he had with his dearly departed wife, Annie. This old dog has a few new tricks…and he’ll use them all to see his pack all settled into their happily ever afters!

Loved the family and the dogs in each book of the series. Always looked forward to the next in the series.
This is a wonderful series!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Roxanne St. Claire’s writing and humor, her Dogfather concept and series, this Perfect Chloe heroine, newly scarred hero Shane, and the fact that a rescue facility is getting serious love! (The author donates to her local rescue with a portion of proceeds and the covers use real dogs and their men involved!) New Leash on Life is Bk 2 in the series and I WILL be reading them ALL. Seriously, Roxanne St. Claire is brilliant—and my hero!
Love these books! Dog mothers are another fav series.
A great way to enjoy free time. This keeps a person reading for the pure pleasure of it.
Loved it! Another great one!
Enjoyed this author and this series of canine fun
Just like the first book, filled with fun, a great family, and pure entertainment. The drama is low and solved quickly leaving plenty of time for Dirty Shame to break down some of Perfect Chloe’s barriers. This series is just fun!
The Dog father series is a lot of fun. I had not read this before, but because I had read the books in the series that follow it, I was pleased to get this as a BookBub selection. The books are fun and perfect for those who want some lighthearted entertainment.
I am not quite finished with this book and I absolutely love it! Love the hero and heroine. Love Daisy the pit bull and the lessons she is able to teach those that are not sure about dogs in general but this breast in particular. Sweet story from one of my favorite authors!
There were times when Hero Shane was a bit too pushy and too much of a ‘know-it-all’ about what the Heroine ‘had to do’ and what he pushed or tricked her into doing, that could be a trigger for some readers. The Heroine’s traumatic emotional history could also be a trigger for some readers. However there were funny and charming moments in the story, and overall I enjoyed this read. Really enjoyed his family connection and I would read more in the series. Final Rating: 3.5 Stars
I like all the Dogfather books but some are better than others. I would recommend them all.
I love her books
Love this series of books. Will be reading more.
This is the second book I’ve read in the Dogfather series and I really enjoyed it. The characters are believable and as a dog lover, this hits all my buttons for a good read. I highly recommend it.
great fun read
This is the second book in the Dogfather series, and I loved it as much as the first!
Shane meets Chloe and sparks instantly fly, but Chloe’s only in town for a short while to help out her aunt. Plus, she’s a bit neurotic about dirt and doesn’t like dogs. That’s a problem for Shane, a dog lover and trainer.
I love this series so much! The characters are quirky but have big hearts. I loved Daisy, the Staffordshire terrier and the message the author conveyed about the fact that pit bulls aren’t mean, it’s only bad owners that can make them or any dog mean.
LOVE this whole series! Starting with the first one Garrett’s story.
Great read
I just started reading this series and the first two books are great!! If you love dogs and humans, you really need to read this series. Fell in love with each dog and each character! Very well written and hard to put down.
