Surly, rude, selfish, and inconveniently attractive. Meet Milo Papatonis, the king of all jerks.I’m not normally one to judge, but I’ve been down this particular road before and I can unequivocally say he’s earned his title. It’s not enough that Milo crushed my dreams when we were kids, but now I’m somehow being forced to dwell under the same roof with his ill-mannered ass. If he thinks his sexy … he thinks his sexy shower noises and ovary-imploding smile can tempt me into forgetting, he’s nuts.
This situation is strictly business and blessedly temporary. Because my dreams are still out there waiting for me, and they won’t be found anywhere near this town—or this guy.
Jerks do nothing but break hearts, of that I’m certain. But I’ve been known to be wrong a time or two…
If you’ve read Then Again by Sylvie Stewart, you’ve met Jill, the hopeless flirt and younger sister to Jenna. Catch up with Jill as well as your friends from The Nerd Next Door in this fun, sexy, irresistible new addition to the Carolina Kisses series.

Oh Sylvie!! My new favorite book from her! New Jerk In Town was the second book in her Carolina Kisses series. It was an amazing second chance, enemies to lovers romance! It was hilarious and oh so sweet!
Jill was in a rut and needed to get her life back on track. She dropped everything and took off on a road trip. Part way through, her car died leaving her stranded in a town full of memories. Would she be able to figure out a plan to continue her journey before her past grabbed a hold of her?
Milo was back in town after being away for years. When Jill showed up on his doorstep, all the memories came flooding back. Except she was still mad at him, would they be able to stay in the same house without killing each other?
I laughed out loud so many times. Their banter and chemistry was fantastic! And SWiN…everything about that restaurant was amazing! I absolutely loved it!!
I really enjoyed this book and I like the fact that it took place in present day and also 12 years earlier. I liked that I got to see Milo and Jill from their friendship as teenagers and then also when they meet again as adults and fall for each other. Even though Milo and Jill only had a friendship when they knew each other as teens they each felt that they were the one that got away. Even after years apart there was just something about the other one that stuck with them. Milo and Jill’s romance wouldn’t have been the same without knowing them as teens. We wouldn’t have understood why they were the person they were today and also what attracted them to each other.
I also loved Jill’s waitressing job and all of her coworkers. The Sound of Music theme hilarious especially Jill’s reaction to everything. I can’t wait to read more of Andie and even Camille.
Growing up has never been easy; making and keeping friends, learning to be loyal to the right people and learning how to protect the ones you love! But when love comes knocking that early and neither of you listen time and tide waits for no man, or woman. Lives move on and our two main characters lived them, maybe not well enough because they both end up back where they started searching for something else.
As part of a series of books our main female character and her sister have been seen before but together with the male lead the create a wonderful abrasive partnership that keeps us guessing. They are supported by a full smorgasbord of people, including some random interlopers from the Sound of Music, who create a well rounded cast of friends and colleagues who help to move the story through the 12 year cycle of their relationship but also create a link to previous books.
As always Sylvie Stewart has written a great book.
I loved it but you should read it and make up your own mind. xx

Sometimes you just know when the person is the one, even if the timing isn’t right. Told in alternating timelines, Jill and Milo’s history started 12 years ago. They started as summer friends and left their friendship behind in anger. All these years later, Jill thinks Milo is the same jerk as before, but this time, she’s stuck with him. In a rough place in her life, she has no other option but to depend on him. Can she stop holding onto the past hurt long enough to see the man Milo has become?
Whenever I read a new Sylvie Stewart book, I gush, because she always delivers the perfect romantic comedy. Her characters know how to have fun, and they know how to get down to business. I’m especially fond of Milo and that Jill has always been his “one”. He’s been through a lot in his life, but he knows what he wants. Jill’s a bit hot-headed, and Milo is the perfect man to help balance her out. New Jerk in Town is a super fun read, which has arrived just in time for summer.
I want my very own Milo. He’s a grumpy pants and a jerk but gosh darn it, he can’t cover up that big heart no matter how hard he tries. Jill is a sassy pants and a drama queen. She also has a sharp whit and a personality that draws people to her like a magnet. But she’s Milo’s sunshine. They are opposites but they fit together like puzzle pieces. I could continue to wax poetic about this couple all day but you’d get bored. However, New Jerk In Town is definitely not boring.
This story was amazing. Between the witty banter and the crazy drama I found myself laughing out loud over and over again. With wonderful side characters like Felicity, Milo’s quirky pain in the neck lovable niece. Then there’s Bran and Rayna, Milo’s best friends. And so many more. You will absolutely love these people.
It’s a wonderful story and I am not just saying that. I mean it. It’s one of my favorite books this year. I wish I could find more books like this one. If I did, I don’t think I would notice there was a lock down at all. This is my favorite Sylvie Stewart book so far and I have read nearly everything she’s written. I’m giving this one 4.75 stars because I have to take a quarter star away for the cat insults.
Jill always wanted to be an actress but it didn’t workout. She is trying to find out what to do with her life. Jill and Milo have great chemistry. Good read and romance.

4.5 Stars
I read this book shortly after it came out, but I just listened to it as an audiobook and it was so much better! Amanda Stribling and Matt Hicks knocked it out of the park, really bringing the characters to life. Their performances were amazing. The story is even more fun when they add all the emotion to the words.
New Jerk in Town is more missed opportunity/enemies to lovers than second chance/enemies to lovers. I love the rom com writing style and can’t wait to read Andie’s story.
Oh man.
Matt and Amanda did a fabulous job narrating this story.
I was almost crying with laughter at some of the bickering between Milo and Jill.
Absolutely hilarious.
Although, there were some sweet and sincere moments between them. These seemed to hit harder because of the tension and uncertainty between the two of them. And don’t even get me started about Mrs. Von Trapp lady
It was nice to see some of the characters from previous books make an appearance, I always love when that happens.
Great listening.

Another good audio in the series. I enjoyed Milo story, if your looking for something funny this is for you.
The book goes back and forth. I thought the restaurant was a sunny environment.
Going to have to listen or read book 3 in the series.
Wonderful Story & Narration An Enjoyable Delight!
New Jerk in Town (An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy)
Carolina Kisses, Book 2
By: Sylvie Stewart
Narrated by: Matt Hicks, Amanda Stribling
Sylvie Stewart pens another delightful romantic comedy set in her “Carolina Kisses” series and I loved every minute of it, from her wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. The story swept me in right from the start, grabbing my attention and captivating it straight to the end. The characters are realistic, relatable, easy to connect with and care about, I adored the two lead characters, Milo Papatonis and Jill Holloway. Milo inherited his father’s beach house, life has not always been easy for him and not all went as planned, he suffers chronic pain from an old injury but none of it has stopped him from helping others when they were in need, including taking in his teenage niece, Felicity. Jill is at a crossroads and is trying to figure her life where she is in life and where she wants to go. Driving aimlessly, she finds herself in the same Carolina beach town her family vacationed in when she was younger, only this time broke and a car that won’t start. She has the car towed but the outlook for the car is not very good, so she plans on staying, getting a job and saving up for another car. She sees a help wanted sign in the window of a restaurant and applies for the job, it is an interesting and uniquely named and themed restaurant, the owner is on the eccentric side. She stays at a seedy hotel and attempts to find a place to rent for her short-term stay. And with the universe working against her at the moment, she is face to face with him again, Milo, the one she vowed to hate forever. Wow, you could cut the tension between those two with a knife, each gave as good as they got, Milo the grump and the take no crap Jill stood her own. But the one thing that was apparent was that there was still something between them and the chemistry was undeniable. This is a beautifully written and plotted second chance romantic comedy, and the story contains the perfect balance of drama, angst, humor and witty dialogue, heartfelt emotions and a meant to be romance. Sylvie Stewart thank you for another wonderful story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride, Milo and Jill’s journey to their HEA was a great one.
And for the wonderful narration, Amanda Stribling and Matt Hicks are mega talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the character to sound. Amanda Stribling’s Jill was perfection, she grasped all her strength’s as well as her no crap attitude when warranted, her timing was impeccable too. Matt Hicks played the perfect Milo as well, angst, grumpiness and all. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. They set the perfect tone for the story, handled the witty dialogue with ease and landed the humor effortlessly, never missing a beat. Thank you for another wonderfully entertaining listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your work.
New Jerk in Town: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy (Carolina Kisses) by Sylvie Stewart
I throughly enjoyed this book. I can’t even tell you how many times I laughed out loud at Milo and/or Jill. They had great chemistry with the love hate thing and they’re characters had so many layers to them. The past scenes said so much about how they ended up who they are in current times.
There were so many scenes that I loved but not sure which is my favorite. Might be how Milo and Jill first meet, or it could be Thanksgiving dinner and what follows.
I have read several books by Ms. Stewart in the past and somehow missed this series, but thankfully I have plenty of time to get caught up on this series and any other books I may have missed. She has a talent for writing the humorous, kind of messy romance stories.
This book is all parts second chance, enemies to lovers, and friends to lovers all at the same time. Kudos to this author for that. Writing a good, entertaining story in such a way is definitely one to celebrate.
I loved this book. Southern charm. A lost love. A found love with some hate thrown in. Great cast of characters. There’s virtually no way this book couldn’t have been a winner. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Sometimes, I really enjoy a back and forth past to present told story, if it’s done right. And this one is done right. It gives just enough of the past, in pieces, to feed the present. If it had been told in chronological order, I may have lost interest in it. This book is equally entertaining and whimsical.
If you’re looking for a joyful, fun ride, this one is it.
love an enemies to lovers story, I think that may be one of my favorite trope’s. So I was exciting to get this book and Sorry Sylvie for taking so much time in finally writing a review, it was not the book that I enjoyed it is the crazy year I have been having..So back to book, I had a good time. I enjoyed the back and forth, loved finding a past love getting over some hate and just truly enjoying this when sometimes there is not a lot to smile about, and this sure did give it to me..Enjoy!

A very entertaining slow-burn read. The banter between Jill and Milo is Fun. The relationship is both complex and multi-layered. You get back story with Snippets but it’s enough to set the stage with a brilliant story. There’s tension but Milo’s character is complex in the intimacy shared within these pages with Jill and Milo will have you turning the pages as fast as you can to find out what happens next!!!
New Jerk in Town by Sylvie Stewart is book two of the Carolina Kisses series. This book has a little bit of everything – second chance, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers. It’s definitely a good read.
Milo and Jill haven’t seen each other in 12 years and the last time they saw each other, it wasn’t good. There’s still some resentment even all these years later but now Jill needs somewhere to stay and Milo is stepping up. With them both staying under the same roof, they have the chance to get to know each other all over again because after all, 12 years is a long time. Jill is sure Milo is nothing but a jerk but will their time together prove her wrong?
There was so much tension between these two characters but through the book you could see their feelings toward each other change and progress. You can’t help but become invested in there relationship. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next!
New Jerk in Town: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy (Carolina Kisses Book 2) by Sylvie Stewart. I think a lot of people can relate to this book. The story of being great friends when you are young and it turning into something more and then not working out. Its the story of Milo Papatonis who is a jerk. He’s self centered, rude, mad all the time and deliciously handsome. Jill has returned home for a holiday and runs into Milo who she has known since she was little and they had a thing but it didn’t work out. Milo had a bad accident and it changed his life and left him mad at the world. When they realize that they still disagree on everything and argue day and night the resentment is left there to simmer. But when Jill needs a place to stay Milo offers his house. The begin to feel the chemistry between them again and wonder if they can get past all the fighting and anger to make it work this time. Will Jill realize her dreams or will Milo break her heart again. Will Milo finally let down the walls he has had up for years? Read New Jerk in Town to find out!

I am a self proclaimed dedicated fan of Sylvie Stewart, I’ve read many of her books and one day plan to read them all. I really enjoyed this one although maybe not my favorite so far.
Not sure why but it took me a bit to get totally wrapped up in the story and that’s unusual. I did love the characters. The back and forth of Milo and Jill was fun to read. I love a good friends to enemies to lovers story which is what kept me in this book. I don’t know why but I didn’t really like the going back in time part. I’m not sure if there was just too much of it or what I had a problem with, I did skim quite a bit of that. I know it was needed but for some reason a lot of it did not interest me. I think it might be because I enjoyed the present day so much that I didn’t like breaking off and going back. I have read Jenna’s Story but I need to go back and read The Nerd Next Door because somehow I missed that one.
I did still 100% love this book. I love this author and will always read whatever she offers. I can’t wait for book 3, Ponch and Andie I have a feeling will be fun to read.

New Jerk in Town is the second book in the Carolina Kisses series by Sylvie Stewart. This is a sharp and witty enemies to lovers romantic comedy. It’s full of crazy drama and witty banter which made me laugh.
Milo is Mr. Grumpy and Jill is a people person, if not a bit of a drama queen. This is definitely a case of opposites attract- with wonderful results. Another great read from Sylvie Stewart- definitely worth the read!
Thank you, Sylvie Stewart!
Milo and Jill were friends until they weren’t all because of a misunderstanding 12 years ago when Jill was 16 and could see her name in lights and Milo was 18 and couldn’t stay out of trouble but the sea was his mistress. Now Jill is back to the place she spent her summers because her car broke down another relationship is down the drain her career path took a turn along time ago and shes on a journey trying to figure out whats been missing all this time its Milo she just hasn’t decided on it yet but when she sees him again its hilarious with the one liners and the chemistry both trying to deny it but when she needs a place to stay Milo takes her in even after she called the cops on him.
Milo has spent allot of time everywhere but then his dad dies leaves him his house and his niece needs a place to stay until she goes to college but the last thing he expected to find was the one thing he’s spent years trying to find his happiness he thought it was the ocean but its the girl he argued with and conspired with even the girl he beat some guys up over and also the girl he disappointed the most now there’s just them in a house on the beach and its time to rip the band-aid off and see were it goes. These two are hilarious shes bubble and flies of the handle hes cranky and just as crazy as she is thats what makes them work.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review
I am a huge fan of Ms. Stewart and enjoy the wit and dry humor she always has in her books. That being said, I am not a big fan of flashbacks when they are used in excess like in this latest book of hers. Once in a while in order to bring some clarity to a certain point in a storyline is fine, but not just about every other chapter as what occurs in this book. It was also written with alternating POV and each POV had their own flashbacks which just became confusing and seemed to interrupt the flow of the present-day story way too much. (Keep in mind that this is strictly my opinion and I am sure there will be others who do not agree with me which is perfectly all right.) I liked all of the characters in the book so much and there were some wonderful lol moments interspersed throughout! Jill had such a bubbly personality. When she was not letting Milo ruffle her feathers, anyway! Milo was a certified grumpy-pants. Not just with Jill but with just about everyone. Bran and Rayna knew him well and understood where the surliness stemmed from so are able to accept him as he is and even sometimes coax him out of his funk. Then Jill reentered his life and turned it on its axis! I was so happy for them both when they were able to work through everything and get that elusive HEA!! I am so looking forward to the next book with Andie and Poncho!! The short teaser has me impatient for it to be released!!
