On a fateful, stormy night, a ghost from the past revealed himself under the glow of a street lamp. A ghost whose smile was as cold and dangerous as his heart. He remembered her well. She was the one everyone talked about. The poor girl down the street born into a family of monsters. The one he’d obsessed over, taunted and harassed. The very same girl who’d one day suddenly disappeared.Accepting … disappeared.
Accepting his hand, he lifted her off the dirty, vile street and whispered a promise, “No good deed comes without payment,” and from that day on, she was destined to pay the ultimate price.
Seeing her for the first time since she’d vanished all those years ago, had only made him realize his obsession never truly ended. And now, with a promise to keep, he was going to make her disappear again… this time forever.
Dear Readers,
While NEVERLAND contains some romance, it is also a tale of twisted obsession. It certainly is NOT a hearts and flowers type story, and WILL contain triggers for some readers as it deals with particularly confronting situations. I ask that you take this into consideration before you dive in. This cruel, yet touching narrative, with its mix of adoring and sinister characters who exist in its broken world, was at times extremely difficult for me to write, and as each scene unfolds, I expect it will be equally as difficult for ‘some’ to read and accept.
I do, however, thank you for reading NEVERLAND!
Love,
Melissa Jane

How do you do a review without giving away any of the plot? with great difficulty that’s how,
My advice go in blind this is an epic tale of obsession, I have read other reviews and I cannot agree with people having feelings for the bad guy he was an an absolute bastard from start to finish, I have not loathed a bad guy so much for quite awhile and for me he deserves to rot in hell, I might have changed my mind if we had had some insight into why he was the way he was, and what was it that caused this obsession in the first place, the story of Romeo and Lucy is bloody heartbreaking.
This utterly brilliant read has rendered me unable to function today until I finished.
Lucy poor poor Lucy what that girl goes through is unbelievable, her abusive father, moved from one abusive situation to another, 15 years of age ending on the streets, with the devil just waiting to snatch her up, Melissa you have ripped my heart out, with that ending, I didn’t see it coming at all. Confrontation yes but not the outcome. I literally sucked in my breath and had a lump in my throat. We have the very brutal and twisted Dominic who is an evil evil man, he has an unhealthy obsession with Lucy, her life is a horror story. Dominic is a horrendous hateful complex man, an obsessive evil monster, and while reading you’re not quite sure if he loves her obsessively or he’s doing all this because she loathes and hates him, the twisted logic is just awful he plays Lucy like a a puppet on a string. Take head this is not a HEA story the outcome at the end will send you reeling, but read it you must,
I could not put this book down; it sucks you straight in, be warned if you pick it up make sure you aren’t panning anything for the rest of the day, because once you start you can not stop.
Melissa Jane I loved Monsters but this is in a whole new dimension OUTSTANDING BOOK you have obliterated my heart with this epic ending in an unusual story of obsession and violence and I am alarmingly worried about how depraved I am with how much I also LOVED it!!
Neverland
Wow what did I just read. Melissa Jane does it again. She writes the perfect twisted book.
Some may say that everyone is given a chance at some point of your life. This isnt the case for Lucy. She grew up with the cards stacked against her and throughout her whole life it doesn’t get any easier. This is about Lucy fighting to keep from turning into a monster. This is about Dominic who in his sadistic way Loves Lucy and does all he can to keep her. This is about Romeo who never stops thinking about Lucy who was torn from him at the beginning of their youth and has never stopped Loving her. If your looking for an ending that is happy, well that can be looked at a couple ways. Life isn’t always about the happy endings. Melissa will weave this story so well you won’t know what else will be around the corner..
I give this book 5+ stars.
I wasn’t ready. I have read this author before and truly was not expecting this dark and depressing read. Yes it’s depressing and I had a frown on my face during much of the read but its written so well I couldn’t tear my eyes from the story and had to complete it when I woke. This doesn’t have the hea people look for so don’t go into it expecting to come out the other side feeling all happy because of it, it wont happen. What will happen is you will find a story with plenty of twist and an awesome read. What you will find is a story that defies all of the preconceived notions of what a good story is all about. What you will find is a story about love, true love that couldn’t be denied. What you will find is a story about obsession because she was his obsession. What you will find is a story that with it’s depravity will have you turning the pages until you get to the last. What you will find is redemption. Neverland is where it started. She thought Neverland would always be her sanctuary, but in the end it wasn’t.
OMG amazing book. Had me hooked from the get go…. full of tension and heartbreak. And a girl which such determination to survive. It had me riding a roller coaster of emotions. It’s so well written it felt like I was there. I definitely recommend this book!!!

Neverland by Melissa Jane is a hard to read book, BUT it is well worth the read. I was torn to read this book or just pass it by and find a different story. I enjoyed this book and glad I did not pass it. Melissa Jane did an amazing job with her characters. They were fully developed and so easy to understand what they were going through. This is a dark romance thriller book. This book needs attention so I recommend sitting down somewhere you can totally focus on what you are reading. The story does go back to the past and to the present. This took me a couple of extra reads just because I wanted to make sure that I did not miss anything. I cannot wait to see what else Melissa Jane has written.
Neverland by Melissa Jane is a twisted yet intriguing story and one that will have you hooked.
I had no idea what to expect going into this story. It was a relatively new author for me, having only read one of her books previously, and the blurb was great at piquing my interest without really giving anything away. And the emotional impact this book gives you makes it all entirely worth it. I was on the edge of my seat throughout most of this book, heart in my throat. I finished this book in one sitting because I just had to keep reading and find out what would happen next.
This book easily had tears running down my face and yet I still couldn’t turn away. I liked how, although there is a romance story within this book, it isn’t the primary focus as such. I liked that the book had so much more about it. I also liked that this author wasn’t scared to step over that line. If you are going to write a book as dark and depraves as this then there is nothing more frustrating as a reader when the author stops short of achieving the full goal. However Melissa Jane not only passed that line but she did so successfully and tastefully. It was written so well. This is definitely one of my favourites of the year so far and I am excited to have found a new author.
Neverland- Melissa Jane
5-stars
Neverland by Melissa Jane completely crushed me! This was a truly heart-wrenching read that had me in tears, if you’re looking for a happy read this sure isn’t it. This book is by far my favourite by this author, from the first chapter I was hooked. The storyline had me so intrigued and feeling so emotional, from disgust, anger, hatred, shock and deep sadness I felt it all. Lucy’s character was so easy to connect with and her story is one I won’t soon forget.
I loved how this author wrote in both past and present moments, it kept me really engaged the whole way through as I questioned everything. Plus, it gave me insight into the love connection that Romeo and Lucy shared. A love so strong that I pray they truly found their way to Neverland.
I would absolutely recommend this book to others and I look forward to reading more from this author in the near future!
This is a dark romance story with a twist of obsession. This is my favorite book by this author yet. This is a dark journey of a woman who can’t seem to catch a break with life no matter which direction she turns. Lucy has taken so much through life that I just wanted to see something good happen to her. Just when I thought something good would happen, there was more twists and turns. I couldn’t put her story down and it is a must read story. I highly recommend this book.
Neverland by Melissa Jane
Rated 5 out of 5 stars!
OMG!!! I am wrecked! This book! This story! I am sitting here with tears streaming down my cheeks! My heart is wounded. The writing in here is outstanding! I could not put this book down. So be prepared to read late into the night. This story made me feel for these characters-empathy, desperation, hatred, hope and love. From the monster who is possessive and obsessive to the girl who only hopes for a chance at a better life. I was so sucked Into her life. It’s hard for me to even imagine what this girl goes through. I really wished my Hope and Love could be felt by HER through the pages so she would know someone is rooting for her. Dang! This girl!
The blurb drew my inquisitive mind to this book. I was NOT disappointed! This is my second book by this author. She can really weave a tale and make me *feel* things. Like disgust, hate and a sliver of hope even appalled! All of these characters drew me in and I hated some and adored others. Pretty sure this book will be on my mind for a while!….and that title? I Can’t help but get tears in my eyes when I think of it. That is a perfect all encompassing title!
If you want to read a book that is psychological, suspenseful, a thriller and has
some romance. Pick this baby up!

5 out of 5 stars
Neverland is the second “romantic thriller” I’ve read by Melissa Jane. I read Monsters incredibly fast as I couldn’t put it down and the story really stuck with me. There is one scene in particular that had filled me with chills that I can still picture now months later. When I saw Neverland I couldn’t click the download button fast enough.
If you read the synopsis it will state that this book isn’t not all rainbows and butterflies and that there are triggering topics throughout the storyline, I would consider this a thriller with a touch of romance. As the synopsis warns, this is a dark story but one that is so, so well written.
I love the narration of the story bringing us back and forth between present and past and slowly unraveling how our main character got where she is. It truly adds to the element of suspense. I struggle to type a review that does this story justice as I don’t want to give away any spoilers. It is intense and intriguing from start to finish. Melissa Jane has a talent for creating a dark, twisted tale that leaves you haunted. I loved how this story came to a close and will say I was a little surprised by the ending.
With the warning that this story contains triggers for some kept in mind, I would recommend this to anyone that loves a suspensive, addictive dark story. I read this book within 24 hours, it was incredible.

5 out of 5 stars
The story NEVERLAND by Melissa Jane is a book that I enjoyed reading and found that once I started it I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. It is a story that includes one characters obsession and need for control and another character daily life that includes fear. It is a book that is suspenseful and had me wondering what was going to happen next. It is a story that has characters that I loved and those that I would call evil and cruel. One of the characters that I loved is the main female character. She is one that I could empathize with what she goes through on a daily basis. One of the other characters is a man that can be called a monster and a bully. He is cold and calculating. My emotions were going up and down the entire time I read this story. It is a book that shows the dark side of life and at times can be heartbreaking. There are also scenes that are about friendship. This is a wonderfully written story. I found myself thinking about it even after I had finished reading it. The book does include scenes that have situations of a sensitive nature.
NEVERLAND by Melissa Jane
Holy cow!! This book is a dark, disturbing masterpiece!! This book drew me in from the beginning and kept its evil grip on me the entire time. As I’m reading this story I can’t believe what I’m reading but yet I am unable to look away. I could not stop till I found out what happens to Lucy, Romeo, and even Dominic. I don’t want to give anything away but I will say that this is a must read!! It will stay with me for a very long time, it feels like its inside my head, which doesn’t happen to me me very often. I can only imagine how draining this must have been to write because I know how draining it was to read, and I found it to be original and all around awesome read!! I highly recommend this book for someone who is looking for something original and disturbing, in every way!!
Neverland, by Melissa Jane, is a dark psychological suspense/thriller novel. This author never fails to deliver a memorable or climatic novel. In Neverland, beware of what lies ahead as this story will cut wide open and leave you wide open, you won’t expect it! This book was beyond what I anticipated when I read the synopsis. I found the characters well written, full of depth and insanely off the charts in regards to the psychological edge that is there. This author has talent in weaving an dark and crazy cast of characters along with unexpected results. This story was addictive and I could not put it down! A must read!
Neverland by Melissa Jane is one of those books that you just sit there after finishing it you just sit there and say oh wow or something else more explicit.
This book was incredibly tragic, but always had a silver lining hidden in the back or at least it seemed that way to me.
There were so many things I loved about this book but they are so integral to the story and could give things away I can’t and won’t explain so I don’t risk giving anything away.
There aren’t too many books that have effected me the way this one has or I would say are a must read but this is one you must read.
So yea…that just happened. I don’t even know what to say about this book, or how to rate it. I am all kinds of pissed off at it right now. Like, seriously? I want to one star it in anger (lol). This book was depressing, on top of depressing, with an extra heaping scoop of misery piled on for good measure. But I at least thought we were FINALLY going to get some happiness near the end, but that got sh!t on as well…sigh. I don’t know…I just wasn’t expecting what this book turned out to be I guess…
Now, having taken the time to express my anger, even though “I” did not enjoy the tone of this book, or the ending. It was still a fantastically well-written book that had me hooked from beginning to end. I adored Romeo. Lucy was pretty much everyone’s punching bag for the entire book. Damian was suitably evil. I am straight up going to say that this isn’t a romance. I know the author lists it as a romantic thriller, but I’m afraid I have to disagree with that, hence the warning. Was there a TINY bit of lightness and love, yes, but it was sadly a miniscule amount that wasn’t enough to lighten the overall sadness of the book. I am also going to add this book is brutal on the abuse front. I know people have triggers in that regard, so I felt I should give a heads up.
I really don’t know what else to say. I don’t want to give too much away. I didn’t enjoy this one. I loathed the ending. On the other hand, I thought the whole “Romeo & Juliet” feel was well done. The writing was fantastic. This author writes darkness really well. So for those reasons I am going to go with a 3-Star rating. Maybe I just went into this one with certain expectations. *shrug* In any case, I will definitely be at the front of the line to grab whatever this author has up her sleeve next. A bit of a bipolar review, but it is what it is…
This is not a fairytale romance (or maybe it is if you’ve ever read any of the original stories), you won’t find much in the way of fluff here either. It’s disturbingly dark and twisted, and it’s absolutely heart-wrenching. So much so, that I actually almost DNF’d it, but here’s the thing – I couldn’t not finish. I had to know how it all played out. Lucy’s life is one of heartache and heartbreak with an extra helping of hopelessness, except somehow, she manages to hold onto some hope even when there doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel. The story is loaded with graphic violence and detailed abuse, so it’s certainly not for the squeamish or those with triggers – I don’t fit either category, but this one disturbed me to no end. This author does dark like nobody’s business, and I’m not talking just regular dark – Nope, this one is like that pitch black, deep in the night, no stars in the sky kind of dark. Melissa Jane pulls the reader through that darkness, then teases with a glimmer of light, only to extinguish that spark. Then she does it all over again, right up to an absolutely jaw-dropping conclusion. In the end, I waffled on my rating for this one, but when I thought about it, I have to admit this author made me feel things. They may not have been good things, and I was furious with the story and these characters more than once, but I did feel. When a book stirs up the emotion that this one did, the author has done her job and done it well.
I hated Dominic from the beginning. Lucy has been through so much in her life and than for Dominic to treat her like that. Lucy is one strong lady
Five délirant stars! This book is a dark thriller and it is EVERYTHING. Highly recommended!
Dear Lord has mercy of my soul because I have lost it while reading this book. My heart is hurting like a bitch, tears wet my cheeks and my mind is blown away. How may I recover after reading such an intense, dark and emotional thrill ride? Damn it! Neverland by Melissa Jane played with my mind in a twisted way that left me breathless. I’ve never seen it coming. It was a direct punch to my feelings. I don’t have the right words to describe how much OBSESSED and ADDICTED to this book I was left. This book consumed my entire being and broke me into tiny pieces beyond repair.
Is it possible to love and hate a book? The answer is YES! I loved and hated every minute of this masterpiece. I want to protect my broken heart curled in my favourite blanket. Gosh Melissa you ruined me and I’m afraid that I won’t recover in a long, long time. I am done! I wonder how her twisted mind works because she penned dark depressing misery with little touches of craziness.
Ce livre n’a rien à voir avec ce que j’ai lu auparavant. Melissa Jane est connue pour avoir la voix la plus unique en matière de suspense, mais ce livre, ce livre délirant est un chef-d’œuvre! The pace is fast and the plot is brilliantly developed. The storyline is exploded by the author in a twisted way that has you at the edge of your seat. It has the power to make you crazy and maybe you will lose a piece of yourself. You are warned!
It all started with an insane obsession and a dark desire that will burn everything to ashes.
If you don’t believe in monsters, you haven’t met Dominic Salvatore yet. He is a monster consumed by his obscure cravings. He will break your soul and like the predator he is, he will hunt you until you succumb to his perversion. He is extremely possessive and he does not have a soul. He is the type of man your mother warned you when you were a child. Is a monster capable of love?
Lucy, aka the heroine, is the girl nobody gives a dime for. Her condition made her invisible, or that she thought until Dominic. He is the man who will slowly break her, her own tormentor and her personal demon. He is evil personified. The only light and hope vanishes in the most unexpected way and she will escape from one hell to jump in other hell created to submit herself to the most depraved possession. Lucy is a complex heroine. She is vulnerability personified. Although she seems vulnerable, her spirit is strong and she is fighter by nature. Every battle she fought broke a piece of her soul until the end. She is like a firefly: small and luminous and Dominic is like a toad: ugly and dark. And he is ready to eat a beautiful firefly because of the light inside the small insect. He is drawn to her. He will consume every spark until nothing is left.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
On a fateful, stormy night, a ghost from the past revealed himself under the glow of a street lamp. A ghost whose smile was as cold and dangerous as his heart. He remembered her well. Holy Moses!!!! What did I just read? How in the world will I ever get over this book hangover I am currently walking around with? It’s taken me a day to even try to write this review. I am going to tell you that the description of this book is what drew me to it and that is all I knew. I went into it knowing no more than what you just read and what I got was a dark dark tale of an obsession that spans the years and is so real it’s a living breathing thing. This book is dark. This book will break your heart. This book will show you that true love never ever dies. This is the story of Lucy and her worst nightmare Damian and the boy who kept saving her over and over again as children Romeo. It is told from the present and the past but all of it from Lucy’s point of view. It will haunt you and the ending will just absolutely floor you. I still do not know how I feel about it. In one sense I was shocked and in another I thought finally!! Peace. You just have to read the book to see what I am talking about but be warned if you have triggers I am sure there is something in this book that might be one. I have read a lot of dark books. A lot of horrible things have happened in those books but I don’t think I have ever hated a character as much as I hated Damian!!! He is the devil himself in human form. I have to stop before I give something away. This book deserves more than five stars and even though it was my fist time reading Melissa Jane it sure will not be my last.
Where do I begin with this absolutely fantastic story, that left me reeling for hours after. I couldn’t put it down and when sleep took hold, I slept for a few hours and woke needing the answers that never failed to appear. This story isn’t pretty in fact it’s damn right tragic and heartbreaking.
Having said that heartbreak is the wrong word. It was filled with anguish and a vulgar display of power, that ended up being the heart of this story. Although my heart bleed for this tragic young women. In her I found a tower of strength of which I am unsure I would have had. I cried tears I never thought would stop whilst reading this book and I ended this book completely heartsick and in a way at peace.
Now during this review I haven’t mentioned names as I feel you have to read this book to gain the experience that I did with how the story unfolds and how these characters appear. Whom remains, who doesn’t and whom becomes the selfish monster that is everyone’s ruin.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I really believe this a huge contender for my book of the year. A story of when fairytales become your nightmare and all you have is hope. Bravo Melissa Jane, you blew me away with this in my opinion a unconventional HEA.
