This is a first read by this author for me and I got it as an ARC.
I love me a good rockstar romance. There is just something so different about them that I love. Sarah didn’t disappoint with this one.
How it starts with Emma winning a date to a gala with her rockstar crush from her favorite band, she was in heaven! I mean who wouldn’t be. But it doesn’t go as she had hoped.
Things take a turn she wasn’t expecting, as friending the lead singer who she never really notices before.
Caleb oh my heart just loved him. He isn’t your typical rockstar. I loved how Sarah wrote him. He wasn’t pushy with Emma but tried his hardest to just be friends. But the heart wants what it wants.
This was such a sweet love story that had twist I wasn’t expecting. I am excited for the rest of this series to see what happens with the other band members and hopefully get more of Emma and Caleb in them as well.

Never Trust a Rockstar was the first book in the Rockstars in Kill Devil Hills series by Sarah Darlington.
It was a quick and heartfelt read. I enjoyed the characters. Caleb was the lead singer in the wildly famous band, Sunset Revival. The band was made up of three brothers and their female cousin. Oddly enough, the face of the band was Caleb’s brother Ollie. Emma was a small town girl with a fan girl crush on Ollie, whom she won a date with for one night. Darlington took us through the disastrous date and the friendship build between Caleb and Emma with a variety of twists along the way. It ended too abruptly and although there was a bonus scene, it really needed an epilogue.
Darlington set us up for the series well by introducing all the personalities within the band. All in all, it was a good start to the series and I look forward to Dani in Never Kiss A Rockstar.
A highly entertaining, action packed journey filled with complex and engaging charters, heart racing twists and slowly simmering passion…. was a great read! I really enjoyed getting to know all the charters in this exciting new series and look forward to more!
Emma has always been obsessed with rock star Ollie Mills, from Sunset Revival, and when her aunt Luce enters her in a contest and she wins, she gets a date with him.
However, things don’t go exactly as she expected with Ollie, but she ends up connecting with Caleb Mills, his brother.
Caleb and Emma begin to communicate via text messages, and as time goes on, Caleb can’t take the distance between them anymore and decides to take a break from touring the band and spending a few days in Kill Devil Hills.
Feelings between them grow more and more, but when a person from Caleb’s past reappears, it can shake all the trust between them. To add, Emma has to deal with her mother’s illness and the consequences in her life.
I loved the story and the characters. I highly recommend the reading.
A great start to a new series
The 1st book in a new Rockstar series with an author I haven’t read before but will again, I’m thinking! There are more connected books to follow in the next few months in this easy to love series and I’m interested to see what happens next.
Emma, waitress, house cleaner living in the coastal town of Kill Devil Hills, NC with her family, while fantasizing and dreaming of her rock idol crush, Ollie Mills. She’s been dating a guy, really hasn’t felt the connection at all, but her family loves him, so she keeps trying to find it. He’s sweet, handsome, perfect in every way, except for touching her heart.
A chance for excitement comes when Emma gets a chance to meet her dream rocker but what if her expectations don’t match up with the reality?
This band, Sunset Revival, that Emma loves, obsesses over and follows in every social platform and its members are all family so, sometimes things become alittle bit tense between them. They know each other very well from spending massive amounts of time together which can be a blessing and a curse. When the sweet, lovely Emma steps into their world, it brings out the worst in one brother and the protective side in another. One night can change everything!
This is a sexy but slow burning romance (for reasons you will understand as you get to know these characters) full of anticipation, a few twists, some ups and downs and plenty of feels to keep your eyes on the pages. I love some killer angst in my romances, often my blood pressure doesn’t agree, but there is something to be said when it’s kept to a reasonable level and lets the sweet glow of love and care to shine through. Plenty of excitement and curiosity about the other characters presented here will have you asking…when is that next book coming out again??? That next couple’s story is teased at the end of this one and will no doubt melt down their pages…I’m looking soooo forward to getting burned!
This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Darlington, but I’m now following across all platforms! I binge read this book and immediately re-read all the sections (many) that I highlighted.
Ms. Darlington’s wove an interesting, character driven story that is full of romantic dialogue, witty text messages, and travels through the North Carolina coast with the backdrop of a rock band staffed by family members during the last days of a tour. The characters and the storyline, all well developed and realistic, pulled me in … immediately.
First, the characters, both the main and supporting. Caleb and Emma were just terrific. Both had strong families with demands and baggage that splashed up on them: Over-involved, but well meaning, mother / aunt, brothers and cousins who were too close and up in their business, and “guilt by association” rockstar behavior. As I read the book, I’m hoping this is more than a 3 book series as the supporting characters, who are all realistic and with depth as well, could easily be turned into books … Olli, Dani, Rebecca, Luce, Nick, Rhett, Luke, … even a hoodie and the North Carolina coast are characters as well!
The storyline tackles individuals who are faced with life-altering situations while caught up in mundane, despair, and longing for a better chance for love, despite seeming to have it all. As our characters work through these issues, they realize that together they are stronger.
I received an ARC. This is my honest review. …am I’m anxiously awaiting book #2
Sarah Darlington takes her readers back to Kill Devil Hills in her brand new series and my goodness is it good to be back. I was addicted to her Kill Devil Hills series and when she announced that she was launching her new series right back where it all started, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the first book and let’s just say that it was beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
Never Trust a Rockstar was a beautifully captivating romance with just the right amount of angst to get your heart fluttering. This series revolves around the popular rock band, Sunset Revival, and I cannot freaking wait to get to know each of the band members. It only seems fitting that the first book would be all about Caleb Mills (lead singer) and Emma Winchester. These two definitely were the perfect couple to start with because their story helped to set each of the other couple’s stories in motion.
The moment Caleb laid eyes on Emma he was crazy for her, even if she was only there because she won a dream date with his brother, Ollie Mills. Emma thought she was in love with Ollie Mills, but the moment she met him that all changed, especially since he turned out to be totally full of himself. The only silver lining of her “date” was getting to know Caleb, even if she’ll probably never see him again. When their connect becomes evident, he will do whatever it takes to get close to her, even if it means canceling his tour, renting a house near her, and sitting on the sidelines while she tries to figure out things with her boyfriend. Just when things seem to be falling into place they get a surprise of a lifetime that will chance the course of their relationship.
This story was amazing and now I can’t freaking wait to get my hands on Dani and John’s story, Never Kiss a Rockstar!
Emma has a crush on Ollie, a member of the Sunset Revival band. She wins a contest for a date with a rock star but when they meet things don’t go well between them. Caleb is the lead singer for the band and wants to get a chance with Emma. He will be friends if he has to until he can’t help but want more from her. Emma is dealing with a lot of troubles in her life. A mom with cancer, waitressing and just trying to do the best she can in life. I had to find out how things will turn out. I liked this story and am looking forward to the next book.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
TRUST A ROCKSTAR is the first instalment in Sarah Darlington’s contemporary year, adult ROCKSTARS IN KILL DEVIL HILLS rock romance series focusing on the members of the rock band Sunset Revival. This is lead singer Caleb Mills, and waitress Emma Winchester’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Caleb and Emma) NEVER TRUST A ROCKSTAR follows the building relationship between Caleb Mills and Emma Winchester. Emma Winchester was obsessed with rockstar Ollie Mills, and was overwhelmed when she discovered that she had won a contest to meet Ollie Mills but Emma’s fantasies about Ollie came to a crashing halt when Ollie showed his true colors. Desperate to get away, Emma will find herself on the run with Caleb Mills, Ollie’s brother, and the man with whom Emma would fall in love. What ensues is the slow building romance and relationship between Emma and Caleb, and the potential fall-out as Caleb’s past comes looking for a second chance, and Emma refuses to stand in the way.
Emma Winchester’s obsession with Ollie Mills was borderline stalkerish and out of control but having met Caleb, Emma quickly lost her heart to a man she barely knows. Caleb despises his brother’s treatment of women, and our story line heroine, and is willing to step up and be the man Emma needs and wants, but there is someone else standing in the way, and Caleb refuses to cross the line.
The relationship between Caleb and Emma is one of immediate attraction but Emma’s personal life is slowly spiralling out of control. From her mother’s illness to the other man in her life, Emma struggles between head and heart knowing that not all is as it appears to be. The $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to the members of Sunset Revival: Caleb’s brothers Ollie and Luke, as well as their cousin Dani; Emma’s mother Bonne, and her aunt Luce.
NEVER TRUST A ROCKSTAR is a story of family, friendships, struggle and love. The premise is heartbreaking, emotional and engaging; the romance is seductive; the characters are colorful, flirty, impassioned and fun. NEVER TRUST A ROCKSTAR is a wonderful introduction to Sarah Darlington’s Rockstars in Kill Devil Hills .
This book has been one of my favorites of the year! I love rockstar romances. And this one has been the best. Emma is obsessed with Ollie. And wins a chance to meet him. But when he turns out not to be who she thinks he is Caleb steps in. Caleb is the best and very swoon worthy!
“Because even if something did start between us, I knew deep down, I should never trust a Rockstar”.
This is my first time reading this author’s book and I enjoyed this book!
Emma is in love with her idol who is a Rockstar,
and one-day destiny is on her side and she meets Ollie Mills of the southern rock band sunset Revival. But this meeting with Ollie is disaster and Emma is disappointed
Caleb is Ollie’s middle brother and also the lead singer of that band
After unlucky love, he doesn’t want to hear anything besides writing music and songs
His younger brother who has been in the spotlight lately
Caleb doesn’t care about fame
Ollie has a meeting with a fan and that’s how he meets Emma
He falls in love with a girl but this relationship is not possible because Emma has a boyfriend
Caleb does his best to win the heart of the girl,
even to follow her hometown and pretend to be on vacation
Emma’s life also is not an easy, sick mother to help her mom works in different places
She also has a boyfriend though lately, she has the focus not on her boyfriend but on Ollie
When she finally meets Ollie then this meeting is not what she would have hoped for
Meeting with Caleb changes Emma’s life
This story was very interesting and at the same time emotional,
the author does such a twist in the book, but the end is good
Thank you!
I enjoyed returning to the town of Kill Devil Hills. I liked the new characters and seeing some of the old. Emma and Caleb are a sweet couple. I felt that their characters were strong and full of heart. Some of the topics in the book are sad and heartbreaking. I definitely needed a few tissues. Overall though I thought it was a beautiful story and I can’t wait to read the next.

I was so happy to be back in Kill Devil Hills, NC! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one.
Honestly, I didn’t even read the synopsis. I went in blind. I just knew it contained Rock Stars and my favorite little beach town.
I loved Emma from the start. Sweet, innocent, naive virgin and dealing with a mother with cancer. Just “stuck” in life. Working part-time as a waitress and a maid. And a boyfriend who she’s not really into, but he’s hot and super nice and the family loves him.
She ends up winning a date with the famous rock star, Ollie Mills. He’s part of a rock band with his brothers, Caleb and Luke and their cousin Dani. Emma has it in her head that she’s in love with Ollie, but once she meets him she realizes he’s not the dream man she envisioned in her head. Thank God Ollie wasn’t the Hero. He came off as a huge douchebag and a super manwhore.
Eventually, Caleb steps up and saves the evening. He’s pretty much the opposite of Ollie (whose manwhore ways are in his past – this was still hard to read about though).
“I was Caleb Mills. I could have any girl I wanted, really, for the most part. And yet this one girl, one I barely knew, was driving me wild.”
This was a slow burn sweet romance. Emma and Caleb sort of start out as friends and it turns into more. Their chemistry pops off the pages.
“I made a promise that I would be her first. And I fully intended to keep that promise. But the truth was, I wanted more than her first. I didn’t want her to compare me to anyone else because I didn’t want there to be anyone else to compare to. I wanted it all—to be her only.”
Before we even get to the good stuff though, we run into OW drama (which I was not a fan of btw). Not sure how I feel about the resolution. I’m torn between relieved and disappointed in his brother.
All ends in HFN with hints of HEA.
Looking forward to Dani’s book.

This is the first book in a new series that chronicles the lives of the members in the band Sunset Revival. The members are family featuring three brothers: Ollie, Caleb and Luke Mills along with their cousin Dani. Emma is a young woman in her twenties who has been crushing on Ollie forever and it feels like it helps her to deal with her life. Her mother is sick and Emma is constantly working. When she does have some free time, she spends it at home or with Nick, her boyfriend. The problem with Nick is that they are not really suited for each other but Emma’s mother and aunt think that she should stick with him. Due to a lucky break, Emma has the opportunity to meet her favorite rock star, Ollie, in person. Filled with elation and butterflies, she eagerly anticipates the meeting. However, the truth is not necessarily reality when it comes to celebrities and there is another brother, Caleb, that seems to be calling to her. From the moment Caleb sees Emma, he is drawn to her and is resloved to ensure he continues to stay in contact with her no matter what. The more time that passes, the two grow close and realize that they are falling….but then Caleb’s past comes roaring in like a hurricane and their world is about to be shaken to its core. Will these two realize that what they have is worth fighting for? The eloquent way this author has written this book with a dual pov is guaranteed to grip the reader from the onset. The character development pings at the heartstrings as Emma and Caleb are growing in their relationship and the reader sees their vulnerabilities. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
When Emma’s dreams come true and she wins a date with the rockstar that she is basically obsessed with, Ollie, she is amped to meet the man of her dreams until she meets him and can’t stand being in his presence a second. Enter Caleb who’s Ollie’s brother and he’s happy that he crashed and burned and is intrigued by Emma and wants to know her. I enjoyed every page of this story and can’t wait for more from this series or rockers!!
I voluntarily reviewed a advanced readers copy of this book
ARC REVIEW
Wild. Unique. Sweet.
This book has made me believe in dreaming with open eyes and given me a big reality check slap all at once.
‘Never Trust A Rockstar’ by Sarah Darlington is book one in the ‘Rockstars In Kill Devil Hills’ series, and if you are wondering why the name of the series is familiar is because this series connects with her ‘Kill Devil Hills’ series.
‘Never Trust A Rockstar’ was so very different from what I was expecting, different from any other rockstar romance I have read and for sure one of the best so far.
This book is funny and dreamy, sweet, hilarious and swoony while also being real, raw, true and emotional.
It is a mixture of emotions you wouldn’t usually mix but that in this case, they work perfectly in the creation of an amazing book.
Emma is driven, kind and sweet. She is a hard worker, a smart woman and someone ready to sacrifice it all for her future. Her life isn’t easy but her love for Sunset Revival, a famous rock band, makes it just a little bit easier and brighter.
Emma can be naive at times, but let me assure you, she can look after herself, she knows what’s the right thing to do always and she’d rather suffer than hurt someone. She is innocent and yet she has a wicked mind that not a lot of people get to know about, she is caring and loving towards her family, the only problem is, she hasn’t been able to feel a connection with anyone ever. Until the unexpected lead singer of a rock band shocks the h*ll outta her and makes her second guess her whole life decisions.
Caleb is a world-famous rockstar thanks to his family, his band, the people he loves and lives their dream with. He is talented, smart and caring, he is everything a rockstar should be and more. He is shy despite his career, he can be self-conscious, emotional, and what some would consider soft, but he is also confident, strong and powerful.
He has two sides, his true self, and his famous persona, and up until now, those two sides have always been miles apart from each other, that is until a curly-haired, freckled, cute girl comes bombarding into his life, flipping it upside down.
Their relationship starts as a platonic friendship, something they could both use and need in their hectic lives. Someone to talk to, to vent to, someone to confide in and trust.
But no matter how platonic they want their relationship to be, despite how different their worlds are, their lives are, this friendship quickly turns into something more intense, more powerful.
It becomes something they are both scared of, something that ‘shouldn’t’ be, something that can’t become serious for various reasons. Something that just flips the finger to everything it shouldn’t be and becomes what it could be, no matter the consequences.
This story is sweet and bitter, a perfect read for a Sunday morning spent in bed.
It is the story that will make you believe in dreams again, shatter them, and give you new dreams to believe in,
It is hard and fast, powerful and swoony, a love story that will make you laugh and love and eventually cry.
One that you don’t want to miss, because if you do, you’ll be missing out not only on a great story but on a great series with an amazingly weird and unique group of characters that intrigue you and appeal you all at the same time.
Make sure to check out this crazy story for laughs, smiles, tears, pouts, and snorts.
A book that will make your teenage self squeal and fangirl while you try to keep a cool facade, despite your hammering heart and quick breaths.
Well I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, Emma has a crush on Ollie, a rockstar, but sometimes there’s just no connection between what you expected from someone with the person he really is, but then throw his brother Caleb to the mix and Emma find herself someone she never expected. Will be looking forward for the next instalment in the series.
I really enjoyed this book, the innocence of Emma and her crush on her favorite Rockstar Ollie was interesting because I think at some point in all our lives we either are tired of the mundane day to day life or we crave more interest and we all definitely have had crushes on celebrities that we have wanted to be swept away by like a fairy tale so Emma was very relatable. She wins a contest to finally meet her crush and attend a gala with him, but we all know that saying “don’t meet your heroes” well in this case it held true because is a pig and ends up making Emma cry, but Ollie’s brother, Caleb sees so much more to Emma and is immediately infatuated with her. Caleb was the insecure Rockstar which I thought was a great new twist with this trope because we all know the cock Rockstar, but Caleb brought a new refreshing take on it. He wasn’t by any means innocent, but he was a gentleman, caring, falling hard for Emma but remained friends until they couldn’t hold back anymore. There were so many different twists towards the end especially one I did not see coming that I was shocked and poor Luke I really feel so bad for him and fingers crossed there is someone else out there for him than the one it eludes to at the end of this story because I did not like her at all and what she did to poor Caleb Luke with the lies. A really good and steamy read, can’t wait for more.
Never Trust a Rockstar was refreshing spin on all things “Rockstar Romance”. I really enjoyed Emma and Caleb’s connection, their story & this fantastic new book series that I have become slightly obsessed with. These two will have you laughing, feeling every emotion & swooning all over the place. Never Trust was definitely filled with a lot of highs and lows but I truly enjoyed it & I cannot wait to see what happens next with this series.
***ARC Provided in Exchange for an Honest Review/ Megan Scandalous Book Blog***
Sarah is a new author for me, and after reading Never Trust I’ve gotta say I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series. Just for something different in this story the hot rockstar doesn’t fall in love with the heroine and in fact is nowhere near the hot guy she has imagined herself in love with for years.
Emma lives a pretty boring life as a waitress living in a beach town in North Carolina but is a huge fan of Ollie Mills from the band Sunset Revival. Her aunt enters her in a contest to meet Ollie and she wins an evening out with him, her dream come true until she actually meets him
Oh to be shot down in flames when your crush turns out to be an egotistical piece of work that you can’t wait to get away from only to be rescued by his brother Caleb. Caleb is just the opposite of Ollie and is enthralled with Emma. So much that he uses the conflicts between the members of the band as a good excuse to cancel part of their tour to resolve their differences and the band moves into a house in the area where Emma lives so that he can spend the summer getting to know her better.
Of course nothing especially love runs that smoothly, Emma has issues that she has to resolve before she can make any life changing decisions. Caleb finds that life seems to be making decisions for him, and the question is, will this bring them closer together or tear them apart?
A really good read, though I really disliked Ollie from the beginning so it will be interesting to see if he will redeem himself in another book in the series.
